Thank you for not linking to Outsports.

Hm, apparently he's only played professionally for Canadian and Singaporean clubs nobody cares; but still, it's better than nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 24, 2020 3:04 AM |
Why bother now dude? You’re not playing now

Now, who has his dick pics?

Lol

Just another bottom.

He is a nobody as he never played in the Premier League, unlike Justin Fashanu.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 24, 2020 3:53 AM |
Justin Fashanu was having sex with 17 year olds when he was pushing 40 so probably isn't a great frame of reference.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 24, 2020 3:55 AM |
Justin Fashanu did nothing illegal then since the age of consent there is 16 for both straight and gay. And diddling a kid while pushing 40, that should be his success story. R12 shouldn't be such an old puritan fat fart.
And I was thinking of James Beattie who is more handsome and famous.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 24, 2020 4:00 AM |
wow, both those guys are hot. Beattie has an incredible body
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 24, 2020 4:10 AM |
How is this news?? He’s practically plays rec league lol
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 24, 2020 4:16 AM |
Darling, he has cum gutters. That's all we care about!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 24, 2020 4:17 AM |
Will he be taking all cummers and coming out as HIV+?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 25, 2020 8:56 PM |
R13, what a vile post. Smh

The age of consent wasn't lowered to from 18 to 16 until 2001, 3 years after Fashanu's death. So *IF* he was having sex with 17 year olds, he *would* have been breaking the law.
Not only have I never heard of Thomas Beattie, I've never heard of the clubs he played for. From what I can tell he never played a professional competitive game in the England.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 26, 2020 9:29 AM |
He has almost exactly the same name of a straight trans man (aka lesbian) who give birth, Thomas Beatie.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 26, 2020 10:16 AM |
Rare event in the Beautiful Game! Recently as five years ago the F.A. had to cancel an LGB visibility campaign because not a single player would come forward and promote it. Statistically there are always at least 50 gay or bi players minimum in the League from the Premier down to Division 2, so why don’t we ever know who they are? It’s quite sad. Still better late than never, and hopefully Beattie bravely sticking his head over the parapet will encourage others.
Anyway I’m going to need my favourite footie podcasters, Carra & Nev, to do an hour on this bit of good news. Maybe they’ll come to a profound realisation....

What? He's not a footballer anymore. He's an eligible bachelor in Singapore.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 29, 2020 5:31 PM |
R22 doesn’t understand footie culture. Once a player, always a player, even if you didn’t have any caps for your country.
Besides, as explained above you have to take what you can get in the most homophobic popular pro sport still going. There are more Out players in mens’ pro ice hockey, and that’s saying something.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 29, 2020 6:44 PM |
The poster wrote "over the parapet," which implies Beattie had something to lose. He's retired and he hasn't moved into punditry.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 29, 2020 6:54 PM |
I didn’t give a shit at first and then I scrolled and saw his shirtless pics and now I’m supportive and wish him the best dicks in life.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 29, 2020 7:18 PM |
The big questions remaining are 1. Which teammates or rivals did he fuck or mess around with when he was still actively playing?, and 2. Which more major players (I.e. higher than his division) either active or retired are gay to his knowledge?
It’s true that without the football angle he’s just another boring everyday gay man, and I don’t care in the least who he’s fucking now or what he’s doing with his life in obscurity. But the fact that he once was in those hallowed changing rooms and on those pitches with a working gaydar means he probably has valuable insider intel that he hasn’t given up yet. He should write a dirtsheet on a fanforum, or even a book. Given that he wasn’t ever called up to the Prem or the World Cup and he doesn’t hav friends in high places, what does he have to lose? (unless the F.A. put hits on people now...)
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 29, 2020 9:53 PM |
What does he have to lose? If he threatens the work life of some very high earners, he could find himself stepping off a ledge like the working gal found in Eddie Murphy's passenger seat.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 29, 2020 10:02 PM |
^^it is a big money game of big money players, but I think only topflights like CR7-level are off-limits when it comes to dirt. Beattie could still anonymously go to a local rag with something on a substitute or a newer hire at one of the Top 4 clubs...that is if he even knows anything.
Of course this does bring ethics into question, and it really isn’t right to Out anyone. But then it’s not really right to get paid 200k or more a week and act as a role model to young kids while cowering in a closet all your life either, is it?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 29, 2020 11:15 PM |
What young kids are we talking about? Hetero young kids?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 29, 2020 11:19 PM |
^^any kids who happen to enjoy or follow football. What does it matter? You don’t want homophobes following the game whether they grow up gay or straight.

Thomas Hitzlsperger did the same a few years back. He now directs Stuttgart’s squad, and used to midfield for Everton.
He tweeted about the Rainbow Laces equality campaign a little while ago.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 30, 2020 8:09 PM |
I'm happy when anyone comes out as gay instead of coming out as LGBTQI+.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 30, 2020 8:14 PM |
Thomas Hitzlsperger is a cutie.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 30, 2020 8:19 PM |
We never got the bottom of the mystery of The Gay Footballer on Twitter, did we? He deleted and went back into the iron closet last year, and that was the last anyone heard.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 30, 2020 10:58 PM |
Many of the younger new players in the emergent squads are more flexible with showing sides of them that aren’t stoical & masc, whether they are actually gay or not.
Some even go for demonstrative m/m affection and obvious flamboyance in style and manner. It’s quite nice, really - makes a change from the days of posturing with grunting nervy phobic laddiness.
But I wonder what the catalyst is? The organised acceptance campaigns of recent years by official organisations in football have failed horribly so I assume that’s not it. Perhaps it’s that Gen Z find LGBT trendy and appealing, so the current youth squads are all on board with seeming into same-sex as a way to attain popularity and get attention/fan support online.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 2, 2020 1:17 PM |
OP, if he were fat, older with an average face, he should remain in a closet?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 2, 2020 1:34 PM |
This gives hope to all the str8 guys who want to be gay/bi/fluid- but despair of ever finding anything but sissies.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 2, 2020 2:29 PM |
The posed muscle shots are one thing, the reality is he looks like an abusive husband on a 6 week Hollyoaks.
The constant labelling him as a "professional" footballer does make me laugh though.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 2, 2020 4:09 PM |
Education and acceptance around LGB (yep, deliberately truncating that acronym) in football is not taken nearly seriously enough. Youth squads have racism seminars in the changing rooms now, but little gayling players are expected to remain in the closet so as not to harm career prospects I.e. put off foreign investment. Interesting that there are so few gay Sunday leagues & teams when it’s be biggest most lucrative sport on the globe...
For that matter, womens’ football and resultant necessary active feminism is also swept under the rug in the industry; and by that I mean proper classical feminism that works to strengthen and protect real women straight or lesbian and their bodies, not neoliberal handmaidening.
Why is it that there is such loud noise and protest made about racial prejudice in the game, but none about gay rights? Why is it, one wonders, that non-white straight male players can walk off pitch or take a knee stopping a game in protest, attack or shame other players, sue or report their manager or club, wear incendiary paraphernalia and make political speeches without a dent in their salary or prospects; while gay male (white or otherwise) and female footballers must soldier on in silence just putting up with any discrimination as “all part of the game” if they ever want to play? Just putting it out there.

That's because lots of men play football at the amateur level.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 3, 2020 3:27 PM |
A major reason that it’s so hard for anyone to come out of the closet in football is that entrenched sexual abuse has been a problem for a century but has only been broached as a subject in the last five years.
Hollyoaks did a storyline on it recently.
