For me, the Middle East ends at the border of India and north from there. India is considered West Asia so that would be as far as that area extends west. What separates the two regions, Middle East and West Asia, would be the wall of -stan countries that go from India northwards until you get to Russia. And I suppose those -stan countries are mostly considered Middle Eastern territories. But that’s just my opinion.

Asia was the name of a Roman Province located in west Anatolia. The name came from the ancient Greeks, derived from the Lydian name for the land, "Assuwa." Over time the entire Anatolian peninsula came to be called Asia Minor, while Asia Major was the heartland of the neighboring Parthian Empire.
When western explorers reached India and China in the Middle Ages, they extended the name "Asia" to the whole of the immense landmass.
So a big portion of the Middle East (from modern day Turkey to Iran, and down the Persian Gulf Coast to Oman) make up the original Asia.

You’re right, I’m wrong. I guess I was thinking in terms of religion or nationality where those countries I mentioned are mostly Arab or Muslim peoples. At least, I think so. I’m much to lazy to research this myself so I’m counting on others to correct my ignorance. Historically, it’s all been Asia in terms of geography but I wonder what the people from those regions would consider themselves to be. Again, I know nothing about this and I’m far too busy to take a history refresher just to figure it out. Thank you for humoring me up to this point. I’ll show myself out now.
