She appeared to be extremely intelligent, sarcastic, and ballsy. She would be a blast to hang with.

That is why I liked her book. She was clearly extremely intelligent.

Yes but damaged as heck and filled with so much anger. You have to wonder why. She had a charmed life.

All anyone remembers about her book was that she called Goldie Hawn “borderline dirty.” Some exposé.

Her book was a bile-stained gossip fest!

Julia Phillips' book is an excellent read. She was a very compelling writer and I especially enjoyed the Brooklyn kid of immigrant parents stuff at the beginning. What becomes clear is that she was just a shitty person who made very poor decisions. She doesn't really spare herself in the book, but I found myself cheering for her downfall because she was an awful person.

Horrible woman. She was a Hollywood producer so maybe that was to be expected.

Harumph. Phillips wasn't a 'shitty' or 'horrible' person. She seemed like a good person to me tho with a smart mouth (and later pen). She genuinely loved her daughter and loved making movies before getting elbowed out by the boys in in the 70s, then by the bankers in Hollywood in the 80s.

Jennifer Lawrence should play her in the inevitable movie.

I always thought Selma Blair should have played her...

Her booze coke habit didn't endear her to many.

Meh. A suit. Julia was the megawatt producer of some of the most important films of American cinema.

I wouldn’t say he ruled Tinseltown, r20. His production company has had a lot of success, but they also produced a lot of duds.

I read the book years and said pretty nasty things about Cybill Shepard and Kathleen Turner. Wouldn't mind reading it again.

He seems incredibly high-powered. I wonder what her daughter is like, growing up in that chaotic environment. WHET her producer ex-husbo?
