Link in the OP. You will know how he was. But was he gay or not a gay, is the question.

by Anonymousreply 4June 14, 2020 11:16 PM

He was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union.

The guy had 10 children. If he was gay, he really tried to fight it.

He turned up in just about every tv show of the 60s as well as a great many movies. His deadpan style easily fit light comedy, suspense, whatever.

All I know is that he had a perverse smirk, as though he'd eaten something quite sour and found it sexually intoxicating.

There were a lot of great character actors like him, I always enjoyed him. He had a great role in Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation, a corny cheesefest.

John Williams was the king of tv character actors. He played everything. Heroes, villains, detectives, kindly uncles....an arbiter of classical music

I'm sure you recognise this lovely melody as 'Stranger in Paradise'. But did you know that the original theme is from the Polovetsian Dance No. 2 by Borodin? So many of the tunes of our well-known popular songs were actually written by the great masters—like these familiar themes...
