We didn't even see his face in Ben Hur

He had a hot ass but he couldn't live forever.

by Anonymousreply 2June 7, 2020 12:43 AM

He will rise again.

by Anonymousreply 3June 7, 2020 12:44 AM

He'll be back next Easter.

I love the music Miklos Rozsa wrote for this movie. It came out 19 years after I was born, but it always made an impression when we saw it on television.

As an opera lover, I never knew Claude Heater was an opera singer. I liked that they showed his face at the end of the vid. Thanks for sharing OP.

The Armie Hammer of his day (looks-wise)!

"Claude Heater not only happens to be one of our finest young actors but also a stupendous tenor!"

It was a beautiful scene. Charlton Heston won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ben Hur.

R9, we all know that. And we also know Chuck was no actor. He was very pretty.

I remember seeing "Ben-Hur" at a drive-in movie with my parents and sister ... I was probably around 6 or 7. My younger sister and I heard that there were lepers in the movie and we were afraid to look at them so we hid behind the seats when the lepers showed up. I'm pretty sure we didn't really know what a leper was at that time, but we'd heard enough to not take any chances.

R10 Charlton Heston had great screen presence and a magnificent voice. For all the hard work he did in the movie, especially the chariot race scene, he deserved to win the Oscar. He earned it!

Heston's other great movie performance as Moses in The Ten Commandments. An iconic role in an iconic movie.

Lord have mercy !

Is once not enough ?

And, R14, don't forget Heston's other great piece-of-wood performance, Michelangelo, in THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY. What a non-actor!

(P.S.--Heston swore that Michelangelo wasn't gay.)
