The trunk of my car is filled with Michelob on ice. I have a gram of coke, and I'm driving to Ft. Lauderdale.

I was still working my first first college job at the advertising agency.
I was probably working on something for our natural gas utility company client. They liked to have an annual gas grill sale prior to the Fourth of July.

OP must be from Indiana, with the Burger Chef detail.
Me? I'm going to hang out at the new mall (it's enclosed!) with my buddies. We'll play Asteroids and Space Invaders and this new game called Pac Man, maybe a little air hockey. Then Camelot Records to look through their albums (I plan to buy "Diana" if it's not too expensive; if it is, I'll just get the 45 of Upside Down) Then we'll go to the food court and pig out, then General Cinema (two screens right inside the mall!) to watch Empire Strikes Back for the 8th time.
Oh, I also need to stop at Sears for new tube socks, and Mom asked me to snag her some Karamel Korn.
Ciao! Or as Mork would say, "Grub!"

How peculiar, r4. I, too, was working at an ad agency on that date, and one of my clients had been the natural gas company. I had written a couple of bill inserts for them over the past three years, including two for a gas grill called the Charmglowette. I remember it so well because my cat and I were also the spokesmodels. We did a beach theme one year, in which my cat wore little, cat-sized sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt made for a baby.

And it looks like hunky Bruce Jenner will be the star of the 80s.

Living in an unfinished dream house on plywood floors taking showers in over chlorinated sulfur water my parents saved all their life to build. In a couple of weeks their dream will come to a crash as my father has an emergency quadruple bypass while my mother and I are forced to sell the house and move into a shitty rental which gets burned down to the ground 2 years later in a massive brush fire. Oh well, dad survived.

R57 - Despite how ugly this place can sometimes get (which, let's face it, is part of the fun,) some of the kindest people I've known have been older gay men. Anyway, I'm always grateful to hear reminices from men who made it through those darker years -- whether it was from family abandonment or the plague. I came of age in the late 90s and was very lucky to have accepting parents and to have stayed healthy.
