I've lived with this feeling all my life. Not terrified. Not even timid, because I can be a bold person and face some situations others can't. I'm not a mousey type. But I have a feeling of apprehension most of the time, like the other shoe hasn't dropped yet.

When you expect something bad to happen something bad WILL happen. It's up to you if you want to keep expecting bad things to happen around you or not.
