I'm watching Sister Kenny with DL fave Rosalind Russell (aka Auntie Mame). Please share you infantile paralysis stories here.
Do or did any of you suffer from infantile paralysis?

No, but I know two people who did. One would never allow anyone to make reference to it (and he used crutches--I mean, I don't think people should bring it up, but he was pathological in avoiding any reference to it, because he had wanted to be a song and dance man). The other became a wonderful teacher and disability activist.

Even FDR didn't have it, but he lied to get sympathy so he said he did.

If you can't treat the disease, treat the symptoms!

Thanks, R1. Did he want to be a song and dance man when he was a kid?

Had it when I was 4 yrs old. Hospitalized for months, no adverse side effects. There aren't many survivors around.
