Is Andrea Mitchell the bitch she's rumored to be?
She and Sally Quinn and ?? are three women who supposedly have the power to allow or disallow female reporters to move forward.
[quote]Andrea Mitchell (Mrs. Greenspan) is rumored to be a judgmental bitch in DC society circles. I have no proof other than scorned female reporters so I'm curious if anyone knows her personally. She's been around for 100 years and has credibility.

My favorite Sally Quinn anecdote: She wrote a racy novel and the witty Christopher Buckley, reviewing it in Vanity Fair, called it "cliterature." Quinn went bananas and complained to Graydon Carter, therefore forever synonymizing the word "cliterature" with her literary output.

But find me one of these mean-stream media women who isn't one? Either they start off that way, or clawing their way to the top ruins them. God knows what crap they have to put up with to get there. But once there, they create the crap for others.

General rule of thumb : pretty much all of the DC/ beltway media are classist elitist trash. And don't believe the liberal BS, many are very conservative under the phony facade. They are "corporate " dems, they support democrats because that's what you do in their social strata but none of these people want real social change. Which is why they are so lenient towards rich republicans and so harsh on anyone who espouses genuine left wing beliefs.

For wapo to shut down a column it's got to be REALLY bad. It's actually jaw dropping to me how bad the op Ed columns for Wapo and NYT are. I've read better takes in reddit comments than what I've seen in these supposedly respectable publications.

Considering she is around 74, Andrea doesn't look bad and she has great clothes, unlike a lot of the broads on MSNBC. It is hard to understand why she's still there, but would imagine she has connections. It's still hard to imagine why she married Greenspan--20 years younger and he soooooo ugly. Don't imagine she had financial problems before she married him. She wasn't a great beauty, but still....Greenspan. And he's still alive well into his 90s. Maybe she wasn't counting on that.

ABC and CBS are great too, but NBC is where it's at in my personal opinion.
And Andrea Mitchell isn't bad either. I've always heard crazy shit about Sally Quinn, but I think it's interesting that she's from my home city. I never knew she was from Georgia until recently.

Andrea and her hubby, Greenspan, are part of The Alfalfa Club the private DC club that serves no social purpose other than to allow the rich and powerful to get together once a year in January for a private dinner party that is never covered by the media. Music provided by the USMC orchestra. Two hundred members - all powerful and wealthy - membership by invitation, ONLY after a vacancy occurs by a member's death! Here's a link:

Andrea Mitchell may be connected now, but she didn’t become successful through her connections. I knew her years and years ago. She was the lone female reported covering Philadelphia mayor Frank Rizzo, and it was a battle. He treated her much more poorly than the male reporters, but she did a great job covering him. It drove him nuts. We knew she was going places—she was tenacious and very, very smart. They stuck her on radio because her physical image wasn’t “acceptable” enough for TV. She was no dummy, she worked on that aspect of herself. Back then she was a hippy dippy! Long black hair, peasant skirt, sandals, and bandanna. When she got to DC that all changed.

Alan Greenspan as one of the prime catches for a DC socialite. Didn’t get much better. Fed chairman is like a Supreme Court Chief Justice - but more powerful and social.

Stephanie Ruhle is my least favorite on MSNBC, and that’s even considering her against Mika and Joe, who make me want to hang myself.
Did she get demoted? She used to anchor the show after Morning Joe and now they call her a financial or economic correspondent.
They did demote David Gura, who I found to be perfectly pleasant. Meanwhile, that off-putting woman is now anchoring the early morning show solo. MSNBC has some really strange casting.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 17, 2020 9:21 PM

Stephanie Ruhle's background is financial, R40, that's why she comes across as such a dolt when she's talking politics. They put her on the 2016 conventions and she actually said "I don't know much about these things, tell me about it," to an interviewee.
"They did demote David Gura"
I found him DULL DULL DULL, he deserved to be demoted or not renewed, he couldn't carry the early weekend time slot. Now they have Ali Velshi, who I love, in there.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 17, 2020 9:47 PM

Ruhle needs to stop making faces and rolling her eyes. It was okay when MSNBC teamed her with Ali Velshi -- he did all the heavy lifting -- but now that he has his own solo show, she's on her own and isn't cutting it. She'd be great as a 'guest' on other shows to talk about finances but she has no experience in politics. One of the worst things I saw recently was her moderating a stop in the book tour of A Very Stable Genius. I couldn't wait to hear Phil Rucker talk about his book and she barely gave him and his co-author time to answer the few questions she asked.

R34 Many people just find the entire beltway media loathsome. Credit where it's due, she worked hard to get where she is and isn't quite as repulsive as her peers Maureen Dowd, Sally Quinn or the late Cokie Roberts.

True story: Cokie's mother, Lindy Boggs, was a former US Representative and later ambassador to the Vatican. She lived on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in a block of strip clubs, and would walk to Mass each morning as the porters hosed down the sidewalks and the garbagemen picked up the trash. When Cokie and her husband expressed worry (Lindy was elderly and frail), Lindy said, "They all know me and look out for me."
