Is Andrea Mitchell the bitch she's rumored to be?

She and Sally Quinn and ?? are three women who supposedly have the power to allow or disallow female reporters to move forward.

[quote]Andrea Mitchell (Mrs. Greenspan) is rumored to be a judgmental bitch in DC society circles. I have no proof other than scorned female reporters so I'm curious if anyone knows her personally. She's been around for 100 years and has credibility.

by Anonymousreply 72May 19, 2020 12:22 PM

Andrea is a lovely, fun person who also is a peerless professional.

And so youthful.

All you hear about is jealousy, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1May 17, 2020 1:58 AM

She has been known to edit pieces to slant what the subject has said.,

by Anonymousreply 2May 17, 2020 2:00 AM

Lately, she can't seem to put together a sentence. I think there's some cognitive deterioration and it's time for the pasture.

by Anonymousreply 3May 17, 2020 2:05 AM

Thank you, Mrs. Luce. Marrying well always had it's advantages! Please say hello to husband Henry without whom you wouldn't have ever been published. He owned the magazines! I assume you're both sharing the same cremation urn.

by Anonymousreply 4May 17, 2020 2:05 AM

R3 But then she'd have to spend all day with hubby, Alan Greenspan. He was great as a source in his prime but he's no longer relevant. Oh boy. Retirement is going to be a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 5May 17, 2020 2:07 AM

My favorite Sally Quinn anecdote: She wrote a racy novel and the witty Christopher Buckley, reviewing it in Vanity Fair, called it "cliterature." Quinn went bananas and complained to Graydon Carter, therefore forever synonymizing the word "cliterature" with her literary output.

by Anonymousreply 6May 17, 2020 2:13 AM

CLITERATURE!! Thank you, R6.

by Anonymousreply 7May 17, 2020 2:15 AM

Mitchell is indeed a terrible human being.

But find me one of these mean-stream media women who isn't one? Either they start off that way, or clawing their way to the top ruins them. God knows what crap they have to put up with to get there. But once there, they create the crap for others.

by Anonymousreply 8May 17, 2020 2:17 AM

How sad they don't help each other. What a bitch fest.

by Anonymousreply 9May 17, 2020 2:23 AM

I misremembered the Vanity Fair person. It was Tina Brown, and after Buckley's review Quinn disinvited them to her husband Ben Bradlee's big birthday party.

by Anonymousreply 10May 17, 2020 2:24 AM

General rule of thumb : pretty much all of the DC/ beltway media are classist elitist trash. And don't believe the liberal BS, many are very conservative under the phony facade. They are "corporate " dems, they support democrats because that's what you do in their social strata but none of these people want real social change. Which is why they are so lenient towards rich republicans and so harsh on anyone who espouses genuine left wing beliefs.

by Anonymousreply 11May 17, 2020 2:27 AM

I know someone who has semi-bragged to me that he knows her.

He told me shortly after I met him that he had has an epiphany and realized that there are so few truly brilliant people in the world today, and that he is one of them. I waited for the punchline. There was no punchline. He was being sincere. He is what I now refer to as a Bethesda liberal.

by Anonymousreply 12May 17, 2020 2:30 AM

The head cunts of the Washington media are Mitchell, Sally Quinn, and Maureen Dowd. All vile.

by Anonymousreply 13May 17, 2020 2:31 AM

She bwjdfef ghsotp tgufanrvqbijb df

blupe

by Anonymousreply 14May 17, 2020 3:18 AM

NBC News has assigned her to cover the Tara Reade story

by Anonymousreply 15May 17, 2020 3:19 AM

R6 Quinn was finally let go from the Washington Post after her idiotic column rambling about her stepdaughters wedding became a laughingstock. For wapo to shut down a column it's got to be REALLY bad. It's actually jaw dropping to me how bad the op Ed columns for Wapo and NYT are. I've read better takes in reddit comments than what I've seen in these supposedly respectable publications.

by Anonymousreply 16May 17, 2020 3:40 AM

Andrea Mitchell is a legend. She went to my high school (before me) in the infamous NEW ROCHELLE, NY.

And please do not bring up that talentless whore Sally Quinn in any thread about Andrea. EVER.

by Anonymousreply 17May 17, 2020 3:46 AM

Considering she is around 74, Andrea doesn't look bad and she has great clothes, unlike a lot of the broads on MSNBC. It is hard to understand why she's still there, but would imagine she has connections. It's still hard to imagine why she married Greenspan--20 years younger and he soooooo ugly. Don't imagine she had financial problems before she married him. She wasn't a great beauty, but still....Greenspan. And he's still alive well into his 90s. Maybe she wasn't counting on that.

by Anonymousreply 18May 17, 2020 3:49 AM

R18, Greenspan is 20 years OLDER, not younger.

by Anonymousreply 19May 17, 2020 3:54 AM

[quote] unlike a lot of the broads on MSNBC. It is hard to understand why she's still there

maybe because she still likes her job?

by Anonymousreply 20May 17, 2020 4:03 AM

Agree, R18, it's got to be her connections there!

by Anonymousreply 21May 17, 2020 4:45 AM

Out of the big 3, I prefer NBC. I live the brand, they have great coverage of everything and MSNBC is a great addition to the NBC brand.

ABC and CBS are great too, but NBC is where it's at in my personal opinion.

And Andrea Mitchell isn't bad either. I've always heard crazy shit about Sally Quinn, but I think it's interesting that she's from my home city. I never knew she was from Georgia until recently.

by Anonymousreply 22May 17, 2020 4:46 AM

She only sabotages the careers of women more attractive than her.

Pretty much all of them.

by Anonymousreply 23May 17, 2020 4:54 AM

R5 except he took back everything he ever said. We almost lost the collective farm over his lust for Koch brothers Econ theories.

by Anonymousreply 24May 17, 2020 4:58 AM

Had no idea Andrea was a DC socialite. I guess her and Sally are the Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian of Washington DC then? No?

Okay.

by Anonymousreply 25May 17, 2020 5:10 AM

Quinn modeled a character with whom her heroine has an affair in her novel Regrets Only after Tony Fauci.

by Anonymousreply 26May 17, 2020 5:35 AM

Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.

by Anonymousreply 27May 17, 2020 5:52 AM

Sure, ,R8--because men in the media are so wonderful, like Matt Lauer, who sexually harassed women and Lawrence O'Donnell, who screams at his staff on camera.

by Anonymousreply 28May 17, 2020 6:17 AM

She's got a cat on her that just won't quit.

by Anonymousreply 29May 17, 2020 6:27 AM

"I guess her and Sally"

Oh, dear, R25.

by Anonymousreply 30May 17, 2020 6:29 AM

Andrea and her hubby, Greenspan, are part of The Alfalfa Club the private DC club that serves no social purpose other than to allow the rich and powerful to get together once a year in January for a private dinner party that is never covered by the media. Music provided by the USMC orchestra. Two hundred members - all powerful and wealthy - membership by invitation, ONLY after a vacancy occurs by a member's death! Here's a link:

R29 What?

by Anonymousreply 32May 17, 2020 2:31 PM

Andrea Mitchell may be connected now, but she didn’t become successful through her connections. I knew her years and years ago. She was the lone female reported covering Philadelphia mayor Frank Rizzo, and it was a battle. He treated her much more poorly than the male reporters, but she did a great job covering him. It drove him nuts. We knew she was going places—she was tenacious and very, very smart. They stuck her on radio because her physical image wasn’t “acceptable” enough for TV. She was no dummy, she worked on that aspect of herself. Back then she was a hippy dippy! Long black hair, peasant skirt, sandals, and bandanna. When she got to DC that all changed.

by Anonymousreply 33May 17, 2020 2:51 PM

I don't know what you guys have against a mature Jewish woman who knows her stuff. I'd much rather watch Andrea that flavors of the moment like Poppy Harlow or Stephanie "I make faces" Ruhle. Experience has more worth than hairspray.

by Anonymousreply 34May 17, 2020 5:07 PM

R34, she's too inside the beltway, so she's no longer credible. I prefer Ruhle. The other one, I don't know except for the name and she's on CNN which I haven't watched in over 15 years

by Anonymousreply 35May 17, 2020 5:10 PM

The fact that a big network reporter was married to the chairman of the Federal Reserve while reporting on public policy issue says everything you need to know about the mainstream media. She's like the wife of the dictator of a banana republic. Pillow talk about interest rates?

by Anonymousreply 36May 17, 2020 5:40 PM

Alan Greenspan as one of the prime catches for a DC socialite. Didn’t get much better. Fed chairman is like a Supreme Court Chief Justice - but more powerful and social.

by Anonymousreply 37May 17, 2020 6:14 PM

[R37] Would you say Andrea's an Alpha Yenta on the level of the 2 Barbara's (Walters and Streisand)?

by Anonymousreply 38May 17, 2020 6:23 PM

"I prefer Ruhle"

I don't think I've heard anyone say that. Usually it's, who did she fuck to get that job?

by Anonymousreply 39May 17, 2020 8:18 PM

Stephanie Ruhle is my least favorite on MSNBC, and that’s even considering her against Mika and Joe, who make me want to hang myself.

Did she get demoted? She used to anchor the show after Morning Joe and now they call her a financial or economic correspondent.

They did demote David Gura, who I found to be perfectly pleasant. Meanwhile, that off-putting woman is now anchoring the early morning show solo. MSNBC has some really strange casting.

by Anonymousreply 40May 17, 2020 9:21 PM

Stephanie Ruhle's background is financial, R40, that's why she comes across as such a dolt when she's talking politics. They put her on the 2016 conventions and she actually said "I don't know much about these things, tell me about it," to an interviewee.

"They did demote David Gura"

I found him DULL DULL DULL, he deserved to be demoted or not renewed, he couldn't carry the early weekend time slot. Now they have Ali Velshi, who I love, in there.

by Anonymousreply 41May 17, 2020 9:47 PM

Ruhle needs to stop making faces and rolling her eyes. It was okay when MSNBC teamed her with Ali Velshi -- he did all the heavy lifting -- but now that he has his own solo show, she's on her own and isn't cutting it. She'd be great as a 'guest' on other shows to talk about finances but she has no experience in politics. One of the worst things I saw recently was her moderating a stop in the book tour of A Very Stable Genius. I couldn't wait to hear Phil Rucker talk about his book and she barely gave him and his co-author time to answer the few questions she asked.

by Anonymousreply 42May 17, 2020 10:03 PM

R34 Many people just find the entire beltway media loathsome. Credit where it's due, she worked hard to get where she is and isn't quite as repulsive as her peers Maureen Dowd, Sally Quinn or the late Cokie Roberts.

by Anonymousreply 43May 17, 2020 11:49 PM

R43 I agree with all except Cokie Roberts. Only heard good things about her and her parents.

by Anonymousreply 44May 17, 2020 11:51 PM

I always get Andrea Mitchell and Andrea Martin mixed up. One of them was impressively athletic for an old broad in Pippin.

by Anonymousreply 45May 17, 2020 11:56 PM

True story: Cokie's mother, Lindy Boggs, was a former US Representative and later ambassador to the Vatican. She lived on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in a block of strip clubs, and would walk to Mass each morning as the porters hosed down the sidewalks and the garbagemen picked up the trash. When Cokie and her husband expressed worry (Lindy was elderly and frail), Lindy said, "They all know me and look out for me."

by Anonymousreply 46May 17, 2020 11:57 PM

I see a lot of jealousy on this thread towards Stephanie.

by Anonymousreply 47May 18, 2020 8:38 AM

MSNBC seems to be a mess recently and I used to like it. No one seems to like Ruhle, Matthews has disappeared, Kornake still has gay issues, and they keep moving everyone around.

by Anonymousreply 48May 18, 2020 8:42 AM

NBC is in a bit of a crisis at the moment.

by Anonymousreply 49May 18, 2020 8:43 AM

I don't understand why she's still on the air. She rambles on and on and it's infuriating when you see the person she's interviewing is chomping at the bit to speak but Andrea WON'T SHUT UP.

by Anonymousreply 50May 18, 2020 8:44 AM

R50 Then turn the channel then. No one is making you watch Andrea Mitchell. Your choosing to.

by Anonymousreply 51May 18, 2020 8:51 AM

[quote] Your choosing...

Oh DEAR.

by Anonymousreply 52May 18, 2020 9:22 AM

Ruehle is hot !! (And im a gay man)

Andrea needs to give company to Barbra in the nursing home.

by Anonymousreply 53May 18, 2020 12:45 PM

She's jealous of Gov. Cuomo, clearly demanding that his briefings be cut short when they go into her noon program. That truncation doesn't occur on the weekends.

by Anonymousreply 54May 18, 2020 12:49 PM

[quote]Kornake still has gay issues

What are his "gay issues"?

Oh, and it's Kornacki, dear.

by Anonymousreply 55May 18, 2020 1:08 PM

I love Steve Kornacki! He is so sweet!

by Anonymousreply 56May 18, 2020 1:13 PM

I grew up w. CBS -- Cronkite and Rather -- but it's gone down the shitter, complete w. hiring ex-Fox Benghazi crackpot Catherine Herridge, who was all the way up Barr's ass when she interviewed him.

by Anonymousreply 57May 18, 2020 1:21 PM

"She's jealous of Gov. Cuomo, clearly demanding that his briefings be cut short when they go into her noon program."

Clearly demanding? Do you not understand that this is the decision of the producer?

by Anonymousreply 58May 18, 2020 2:38 PM

I had a job on Capitol Hill in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I interacted with Andrea Mitchell quite often on a daily basis. She was always friendly, courteous, and professional. Some of the nasty things said about her are sexist.

by Anonymousreply 59May 18, 2020 2:41 PM

Andrea Mitchell might be all those things, competent, professional, courteous, but I just don't trust the Villagers to get how far off the rails the Republican Party has gone, what an asylum it's become, and how to express that as part of the modern political reality.

by Anonymousreply 60May 18, 2020 4:28 PM

R60, Andea Mitchell is not a pundit, she's a reporter and a host - she supposed to be neutral. HOWEVER, she had gone off on Trump when applicable, in a very dignified way of course.

by Anonymousreply 61May 18, 2020 7:10 PM

R61, there's neutrality and then there's allowing blatant lies to go unchallenged. Republicans sit there and tell the most outrageous lies.

by Anonymousreply 62May 18, 2020 7:19 PM

"Oh, and it's Kornacki, dear."

Yick, old queens who use "dear" make my skin crawl. I know the type and their bitterness is off the chart.

by Anonymousreply 63May 19, 2020 4:21 AM

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 64May 19, 2020 4:53 AM

I don't like Kornacki. I don't care if he is gay. He comes off as extremely conservative to me. Rubs me the wrong way.

by Anonymousreply 65May 19, 2020 7:23 AM

Is OP the pedo he's rumored to be?

by Anonymousreply 66May 19, 2020 8:20 AM

She's still better than all those blonde bimbo cunts on Fox.

by Anonymousreply 67May 19, 2020 9:18 AM

I wonder if Andrea is friends with Rachel Maddow?

by Anonymousreply 68May 19, 2020 9:31 AM

She does seem to hav some cognitive issues, not being mean. She seems to be grasping a lot harder to finish sentences, Hope she is ok

by Anonymousreply 69May 19, 2020 10:32 AM

Used to see her at parties, a sort of Dr. Freeze as she and her hair passed through a room, those near her passage shuddering from the cold.

by Anonymousreply 70May 19, 2020 10:51 AM

[quote] Andrea and her hubby, Greenspan, are part of The Alfalfa Club the private DC club that serves no social purpose other than to allow the rich and powerful to get together once a year
