I still don't don't get it.
But seriously how did they not roll down that sloped hill?

The grass is level. The castle and camera are tilted.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 15, 2020 9:43 PM |
It's clearly on an incline. They could roll themselves down the hill if they fell.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 15, 2020 9:44 PM |
Yeah, but the inline looks like it's 5 degrees, or 10 degrees max.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 15, 2020 9:47 PM |
It's not THAT steep, OP...
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 15, 2020 9:50 PM |
It would have been Kurt's first movie roll.

The gravity is different in the Alps. Think about it. There are entire towns up there, and they don’t roll off.

They sat on stakes, Rose.

As a young gayling, I had a crush on Friedrich. I would have loved to have played with him in the grassy Alps during the alpine summer.

Velcro, Rose.

They’re all part mountain goat.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 15, 2020 10:41 PM |
I always wondered the same thing. It seems dangerous to be on inclined ground, especially when you could roll off.

That castle in the background also made an appearance in "Where Eagles Dare" with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton.

I want to know who mowed the lawn
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 15, 2020 11:04 PM |
Keep in mind that it’s a magic mountain, where on one side is Salzburg and the other side Switzerland.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 15, 2020 11:08 PM |
It's not that hard to stay seated on an incline like that without falling down. It can be hard on the back though since it overextends the legs and back.

Have you not heard of Austrian Alps? There's German and Italiano Alps too. They're not just Swiss, sheesh.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 15, 2020 11:54 PM |
And Slovenian alps

I remember watching this movie with my parents in the 80s as a child and having strange feelings about the Captain and Rolf.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 16, 2020 3:56 PM |
Rolf is gross, even before becoming a Nazi. Too Aryan.

R20
Perhaps, but look what happened to Daniel Truhitte (Rolf)

Only Mr Vo. trapp for me.

Sweet mother of God, nobody needed to see that!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 18, 2020 9:05 PM |
Liesl was fortunate not to know that Rolf became Ham Lushbaum.

Was Maria still a virgin when she married Georg? Was Georg bi or strictly hetero?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 18, 2020 9:34 PM |
Daniel Truhitte must have something; he's been married thrice, and his current wife seems to have no complaints.
He's managed to keep is voice in good nick (relatively) I'll give him that.

Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich) has aged far better.
