I've been to Red Lobster about three times in the last 20 years but don't get the appeal. There's one a few blocks from me that seems to be busy but I have to drive by six other restaurants that are much better.

I am blown away that DLers do not understand the concept of Mother's Day. It's not a day for fine dining. It's a day when your mother chooses a restaurant SHE LIKES and everyone humors her so that she doesn't have to cook. It's her day off. That's the idea. Of course you can get better crap at the grocery store. That's not the point.

Those biscuits are hardly worth dying over. I had two and got a case of indigestion that was so impressionable that I can't even drive by a Dead Lobster without stomach acid bubbling up my esophagus at the memory.

Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day are the absolute worst dining out days. All the amateurs are out in force, showing off their lack of social skills, manners, and tipping abilities. All resentful that they have to spend money and time on someone besides themselves. All too stupid to realize every other yokel in town had the same plans on the same day.

I ate at the Pittsburgh Red Lobster mentioned in the previous thread twenty years ago, and it was sufficient. It was the time when cellphones were relatively new. Our waitress had just gotten hers and spent our entire meal on hers being broken up with by her boyfriend. I don't remember what I ate—probably shrimp—but what surprised me was how expensive it was...$35, including tax and tip, more than I'd've spent in a local mom & pop I actually liked. I never went back, either to this RL or any other.

Years later, I ate at a friend's house, and he was so proud of the Red Lobster cheddar biscuits he made from a box. They were merely mediocre.

My mother had much better taste in Mother's Day restaurants.

I never understand why anyone dines in a restaurant on Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, the two busiest days of the year by far. Because people are packing themselves into restaurants, the service is slow, the food is usually subpar, and often it's more expensive, as many restaurants use the opportunity to institute prix fixe menus. Sounds like a horror show to me. Thank God I can (and do) cook.

Scenes like this will become more prevalent.

If those employees were smart, they would immediately fall to the ground after the customer hits them and start screaming in agony instead of fighting back.

Working as a banquet server for conferences, it was always the women that gave the most trouble when it came to food and beverages...very picky, and always causing a scene when things don’t go their way. Men customers give me less problems, and are less messy. Teacher conferences are the worst.

Funnily enough, a few hours ago, before I saw this post, I was remembering my one and only time eating at RL. I remember the prices were so inflated (this was 10th December 1991) I ordered the Bisque. It was so salty I couldn't finish it. I remember the date because two girlfriends of my boyfriend had driven to Seattle to attend the Rod Stewart show at Tacoma Dome (wh., by the way, is really in Tacoma).

I've never eaten at Red Lobster but I've heard it's like eating pure salt. That can't be good for you.
