And start preparing your Christmas card list. It’s never too early to be prepared.

Mom's not taking calls these days. Not just my calls - anybody's calls.
I wish I could check in to see how she's doing because she was a great Mom. I still miss her.

Do you have the number for hell?

Mother's Day is always problematic for me; I do best when I don't acknowledge the day. My mom has been gone now for 21 years, and while it was nowhere as awful as Sybil's memories of her mom in the Green Kitchen, thinking about it is still a major bringdown.

Is anyone having a sale on wire hangers?

I'll pass. I haven't seen or spoken to my mother in years and we both appear to be good with that. I'll save my affection for my mother in law. A few years back, her daughter in law said she wouldn't take part in the family Christmas if me and my then boyfriend were going to be there as a couple. She said she was sorry but she didn't feel comfortable around that sort of thing and that it was sinful. Quick as a flash, my future mother in law told her that she would be missed but we would struggle on without her. I didn't like the situation and felt bad about it but my love for her grew that day and made me realize how lucky I was to have her in my life.

Ugh - hate this day. Pressure to celebrate someone who has sucked all the joy from my life. And who expects every day to be Mother’s Day for all the sacrifice she has made. Endless narcissism for 50+ years.

I just watched footage from yesterday of sidewalks outside Los Angeles florist shops packed with pedestrians desperate to buy flowers for Mother's Day.
The most loving gesture a mother could have made this year would be to say, "I know you love me, but no gifts and flowers this year. Do not go out to buy them, I will not accept them from you. Our family's continued health and safety mean more to me than any purchased displays of affection. Stay well if you truly love me."

Exactly R10. Instead I get “This is all overhyped. You mean I’m all alone on Mother's Day?” At 85. Hoping this is the last one.

I love that, as of right now, this thread is immediately below the "True Cunts" thread.

Interesting responses in this thread. So much for the stereotype of gay guys being close to their mothers!

Unfortunatley, due to the plague I have to cancel the annual dance on the grave.
