He was in terrible shape after the tiger attack. He’s probably better off dead. Sad he had to live like that over 16 years. They should have pulled the plug then.

R10 He and Siegfried don’t even live together and haven’t since the 90s. So that’s likely bs.

[quote]I thought I read that Roy was molesting his male nurses and one of them was making a complaint about it. I think the excuse made was that after his stroke he had poor impulse control.
I remember when that happened. The story died down quickly. I worked for the labor department in my state for several years and the excuse about strokes causing poor impulse control came up in several cases where nurses,, nursing assistants, or home caregivers filed complaints with the state saying they had been physically or emotionally abused by patients/client in homes, nursing homes, and hospitals.

I hate that wild animals are held in captivity, and made to perform tricks for people. He was never the same, as said above, after he was attacked. Wild animals instincts and impulses sometime result in a disastrous attack. He was weak from the attack. He'd probably be fine otherwise if not for the attack.

This what some Deplorable cunt posted on FB:
“He died of HIV. He was diagnosed years ago. Which once again the FFA, knew there was going to be a problem. I will send you link to watch.
I am so sick of people freaking out over all of this. Ranchers and farmers have been vacationing their cows for years for the coronavirus. Never has been a threat until the USA lost the impeachment.“

I also saw the documentary about S &R and they gave off MAJOR zoophilia vibes, although I doubt they actually had romantic encounters with their animals, considering the dangers involved. It seemed more like they just wanted to BE cats, and I would not be surprised if they did some exotic role-playing together, when the mood hit.

The report of Siegfried abusing Roy came from a former bodyguard of Roy's who file a lawsuit against Siegfried claiming he mistreated Roy and they had an abusive relationship long after the tiger mauling.

by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 9, 2020 11:41 AM |
They were certainly strangeby any measure but unique and entertaining characters to read about. Never saw their show but wish I had. I din’t particularly like animal acts, even dogs. I am not a PETA type, animals are animals, but it makes me uncomfortable. It definitely made Roy uncomfortable in the end. But, still, his passing makes me sad.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 9, 2020 11:55 AM |
I was flipping channels a couple weeks ago and 20/20 had on a special about them. I thought something had happened, probably corona-related but eventually figured out they were rebroadcasting an old show, probably because that Tiger King guy was in the news and they needed to fill the airtime. I stayed to watch, it was interesting. Roy never fully recovered from his stroke/s. There's no answer to the cause of the attack and white tigers aren't a separate species, just extremely inbred.

by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 9, 2020 1:42 PM |
Like Tiger King showed, there is something damaged in people who obsess over dangerous animals like that.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 9, 2020 2:02 PM |
In the case of S&R, it was dollar signs that motivated them, R49. And they had a good long run.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 9, 2020 2:16 PM |
Why would that be offensive, R7? It's the truth.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 9, 2020 3:24 PM |
One of S&R's former handlers says the tiger attacked him because Horn was not properly socializing with the animal and was treating the animals as props rather than treating them as very dangerous wild animals. In other words, that attack was just an accident waiting to happen.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 9, 2020 3:31 PM |
After watching the documentary, I’m convinced he really did love animals - to an unhealthy, mentally disturbed degree. More than Siegfried - who seemed to be all about the money and the show.
He made a mistake - but refused to admit it. The whole adamant insistence that he was being “saved” by the tiger AFTER he had a stroke was bizarre. What’s more amazing is it never happened before. Like many extreme animal lovers, he forgets they are actually animals and not rational, thinking “friends”. But he did what he loved - good for him.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 9, 2020 4:01 PM |
r49 Animal Planet used to have a show, "Dangerous Obsessions" or something like that, which had about 5 seasons worth of those stories. And those were only the ones that ended poorly.
It's not just dangerous animals, though, it's animals in general. The number of fucked up pet owners is ridiculous-not just the 'odder' exotics like reptiles, either. I worked in the animal care industry long enough to get PTSD from all the bullshit. I don't support PETA, but they're not wrong & they're usually the only ones who will call people out on these stories. They'll also call it what it is: a negative transference of human emotional/mental disturbance onto animals.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 10, 2020 4:58 AM |
Is Roy’s story a happy one because he rose from nothing to become a gazillionaire who did what he loved for a living? Or is Roy’s story a tragic one because it was the very thing that he loved that destroyed his life?

What was their personal relationship? They were fucking each other when both were in their physical prime? After Roy got disabled, they both fucked younger things as they have more than enough money? Or did they start fucking young hot things even before Roy's 2003 accident?
They were probably vers with each other.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 11, 2020 12:50 AM |
The documentary seems to indicate they were the classic gay couple who broke up but remained business partners and, in many ways, life partners. The relationship hadn’t been a sexual one for a long time before the accident. Annoying that neither will come out and say it - but not uncommon for that age and time. But the documentary implies it was common knowledge. Combination of classic Hollywood closet and old school gay glass closet.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 11, 2020 3:30 AM |
Thanks r60. I'll watch that 20/20 documentary which is on youtube in 3 parts. The mainstream media is so hush about their personal relationship, yet the mainstream articlea have a one sentence foregone conclusion that they were life partners /former lovers. That's it.
I'm not surprised: before Roy's accident they were past their physical prime and were most likely fucking 20yo Vegas pool boys each in their shared (??) Vegas home called the Jungle Palace. Maybe at one point before they became former lovers, they were in an open relationship. Who knows.
Yes, it's disappointing Siegfried wouldn't come out and be a better gay icon but he's not from this era. I'm sure in the memorial, Siegfried 's statement/eulogy will be suitable bland.eulogy
Teller (72) of Penn & is another tight-lipped homo.

Sorry, these too men are/were eccentric and passionate about magic, showmanship and animals which made them stand out. They’re gay, yes and probably had crazy sex in their life. They had more talent and sexual prowess in their pinkie than any fat housewife will ever have.
Creepy is a Republican Frau with an agenda.

Roy tried hard to fight back from his stroke and injuries, but it was too much for anyone, probably. Of course there was something tacky about them and their show, but their fabulosity was a good fit for Vegas and they had the grand life and success that they sought. RIP Roy Horn.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 12, 2020 11:09 PM |

Ain’t no such word in these here parts.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 12, 2020 11:23 PM |
I saw their show once. It was flashy and they strutted around with their giant codpieces like they were God’s gift. Like I said, it was tacky, but played well in Vegas. So good for them, I guess.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 12, 2020 11:29 PM |
It worked for the time. It wouldn't work now, as Siegfried says in the 20/20 documentary. The animal abuse endured and inbreeding of these poor animals to afford the two of them such lifestyles of extravagance is what's creepy to me. It's like a house of horrors, presented so cute and elebrate, and people couldn't get enough of it. That's what I meant by creepy R64. The fact that they were a gay accomplished couple? Of course I applaud that.

The thing that shocked me about the documentary was how little regard there was for the safety of the audience. When something finally happened it it happened to Roy, but it could just as easily been anyone in the first four rows on any given night.

by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 14, 2020 1:51 PM |
r80 that's not uncommon working with wild animals. The other factor, from a couple of articles I read, was that Roy had handlers who were there to wrangle the cats if anything went wrong. They hesitated that night, because he was the boss, but if the cats had shown any negative behaviours toward the audience, I think they would've stepped in between.
They were probably watching the audience for anything that might set the tigers off.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 14, 2020 2:31 PM |
[quote] The thing that shocked me about the documentary was how little regard there was for the safety of the audience.
It's interesting you mentioned that. The only change the USDA made to regulations dealing with animal shows concerned audience safety.
[quote] The show was over. The government, which was exploring potential violations of the Animal Welfare Act, ultimately didn't assign blame for the attack. But the following year the USDA amended its safety regulations for the live exhibition of big cats to stipulate distances and barriers between animals and the viewing public.

by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 15, 2020 3:37 AM |
One theory is that Horn was drunk the night of the tiger incident--the smell of alcohol bothering the tiger and/or him being a little off his game as the cause.
the idea that they lived with tigers, apparently was pure hype.

r87 lol, they've probably been there the whole time. I imagine they're housed somewhere on the compound, then called to the big house whenever S or R's mood strikes. They probably consider the twinks & the tigers to be basically the same thing.
