You know what, I think I’m coming to the point that allegations of sexual assault from decades ago, without clear and convincing evidence or without supplementing an allegation of more recent sexual misconduct, have no place in political discourse. That belongs in a court of law, not in the court of public opinion. I’m sorry if it actually happened to you, but if you had spoken out then, even if the predator was never held accountable, perhaps the predator would never have advanced to where he is now. But there is no way for the public to be fair to both parties.

I too wish Biden would go away. Why do the Democrats have such a dreadful candidate? Why do they love destroying themselves? And I fear Biden has the beginnings of dementia which will only get worse. The Republicans are really playing it up. And yes I believe Trump has it as well so I agree it is rich. Why pick Biden such an old man with such baggage? I will vote for him but I will hate doing so. Isn't it still possible for another candidate?
And Kelly loathes Trump. He made her frightened for the safety of her family and literally for her own life. She has been very open about this. It is very shocking and Republicans have been ignoring it.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 8, 2020 1:46 PM

Because genius at R33, that is not the way the process works. We started out with a clown car primary and a ton of different choices. Joe Biden was beat up and bruised in that primary. Given negative press, called old out of touch, racist. just about everything else under the sun, and his campaign was just about DOA until South Carolina, but the democratic voters in South Carolina and then the primary states in Super Tuesday changed everything.
I'm sorry that you don't like the end result and I'm sorry that you don't like Biden, but you need to get the fuck over it. Biden could have murdered little children in the past. Biden could have raped and tortured Girl Scouts for all I care. Biden could be a drooling coma patient and I don't care. He is still better than Trump. RBG is one or two hospital stays away from death, I'd rather have Biden name her replacement than that orange mother fucker and Mitch McConnell.
Get it together. Get over the nonsense. Do you want 4 more years of Trump or are you gonna kvetch about Biden's imperfections, which compared to other guy running, ain't really imperfections at all.
And, R33, if you are a Bro or one of the leftover Liz Warren supporters... wake the fuck up. Accept the fact that they were niche candidates without broad appeal to democrats. Neither one was ever going to win a general.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 8, 2020 2:08 PM

Yes I wish it had been Warren but as I said I will vote for Biden. I just sometimes think he is not going to hold it together over a long intensive unrelenting campaign. Trump will always be consistent in his derangement and a large group of American will be happy with that but I agree anybody will be better than him. Still I fear Biden may crash and burn.

So Megyn is just interviewing people for free now? She's really desperate. She ruined her whole career and she's been trying to claw her way back to relevance ever since.
She pissed the left off with her behavior at Fox News. And then she pissed the right off after pressing Trump at that debate. She's pissed both sides of the aisle off and that's a no go in cable news. The same thing happened to Peirs Morgan and it killed his career here in the US, back to the UK he had to go. Megyn is in the same boat and no one wants her.
At least she's made her money. Hopefully she'll never come back from her bullshit.

When people make statements like these, they should provide rational and reality-based explanation how she (or Bernie) will get 270 electoral college votes, having in mind they may not be targeted with sexual assault scandals but you better be sure they'll be tarred and feathered as socialists, communists, baby killers who want to take your rights and liberties away - the possibilities are endless.

She did not retire, R75. She was run out of NBC by the management after her stupid and ham-fisted comments about blackface.
In the interim, she's been lying low, staying out of view, biding her time for the blackface brouhaha to pass and for the moment in history to change. As this is an election year and her specialty has been divisive politics, she's testing the waters, hoping that her exile can be ended.

Wrong. I’ve repeatedly said that even though Biden has serious issues, I don’t think Bernie would be any better and that I didn’t know who would be a better alternative to run against Trump out of the Democratic field.
And yes, the Democratic Party has become the moral police with the crackpot SJWs communist wing trying to destroy it. The party is pandering to them and woke Twitter. Watching the Dem candidates come out on stage announcing their pronouns was insane. It’s become the party of oppression. They’ve already tried erasing us from Stonewall. Yeah, the pantyhose thing may seem trivial to people today - but is a huge red flag because of the realities of the time period and her place of work. It's not like it was a 2 people office in small town Nebraska. Tons of women worked there at that time period and remember what it was like to dress for that workplace.
The other huge glaring red flags for me are: 1) The fact that she seems to have had roughly one story for decades (harassment in Biden's office, unclear by whom exactly but explicitly said not Biden), and that story suddenly changes into graphic sexual assault at a very interesting moment in politics 26 years later. 2) She kept changing the description of her alleged complaint in 1993. Doesn't help that no such paperwork has so far been produced. and finally 3) She's filed a police report after she changed her story- but according to NYT who say they were shown the report, she doesn't name Biden specifically for the sexual assault allegation. (Afaik the NPR story that she names Biden was based on what a police source told them, not that they could verify on the paperwork).
Even if I wave away the first two red flags, and if NYT is correct about the police report: It is beyond any legal and common sense that she wouldn't name Biden in the police report when she's already told the media and she's demanding the public believe exactly that 'Biden grabbed me by the pussy in 1993'.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 10, 2020 8:20 PM
|
[quote] It is beyond any legal and common sense that she wouldn't name Biden in the police report ...
No, it's a crime to file a false report with the police. Since she will name Biden on Fox News, but not in the police report, the conclusion everyone can make is that no sexual assault was perpetrated on this woman by Joe Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 10, 2020 8:23 PM
|
Yes, R98, what I meant was 'it's beyond any legal and common sense IF the story she demands us to believe now is the actual truth.'
IF NYT is correct about the report, you're exactly right why it wouldn't name Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 10, 2020 8:28 PM

Also why didn’t she file her report with the capital police since that’s where it supposedly happened. I’ve noticed some blue checks starting to walk away from the story.

Two other huge red flags:
When she approached TimesUp in 2019 (I think), they did take her seriously and referred her to lawyers. The lawyers also took her seriously BUT she didn't want them to sue Biden or anyone of sexual harassment or assault. Who she wanted to sue was twitter 'conspiracy theorists' attacking her on SM! She wanted a PR lawyer, that's why none of these lawyers took her on - she didn't have a legal case against potentially protected speech. When she finally found representation, her lawyers are playing a PR game but aren't launching a lawsuit against Biden, as far as I know.
Then, instead of making the new accusation when Biden entered the Dem race in 2019 (a timing one would expect even when the accuser for some reason waited 26 years and slept through Biden's TWO VP terms), she came out only when Bernie, whom she supported, lost any realistic path to the nomination. Just before the new allegation, she tweeted to the Intercept guy, "Timing.. Tick tock". It indicates a very specific political intent behind the allegations, basically a political hit job. It isn't what an innocent traumatized assault victim would tweet and the choice of timing is particularly egregious. The fact that Bernie surrogates and far-left outlets amplified her fresh new allegation is only the cherry on top.

Seriously, anyone sticking their fingers in a random crotch runs the risk of encountering a tampon or pad. No man wants to hit that wall.

I'm not sure why Biden would assault her in a Senate corridor. Wouldn't that be open public space where anyone can saunter by at any time, including reporters? This was at the time of Sen. Packwood's sexual assault scandal to boot, one would think Senators of average intelligence would be wise to keep their sexual assaults to more private locations.
She should've gone for a lockable office supply cabinet version from the get-go in order to have some slight chance at credibility.

I will watch this. I think Megyn will be fair and neutral with her interviewing. She wants to be seen as a credible journalist and restore her reputation. She’s not a Trump shill.

Not only that, r104, it it supposedly happened yards from the capitol police. Grim and Halper allowed themselves to be trolled. Not sure if they can be taken seriously going forward.

[quote]lol at [R88]. You know Megyn was like “what the fuck kind of underwear was this crazy bitch wearing?”
I couldn't follow that part at all. "Did he push the underwear to the side?" "No. They were lingerie panties." "Are you saying they were crotchless?" "No." "There wasn't much to them?" "Right".
Hoe, you just quoted Biden as saying he wanted to fuck you, but you're coy about panties? If they were crotchless Biden would still have to push the material aside to get his fingers up there even if it was the flimsiest of material.

I don't know why Biden would touch her, period. And he didn't. She tried it though. She really fucking did.

credible journalists do not show to up to interview a world leader (despot) wearing a party dress short enough to expose their thighs.

Halper is a failed stand-up comic turned podcaster. Not a trained or experienced reporter.
I doubt she was trolled. She's a Bernie shill who propped Reade while running interference against actual reporters investigating Reade’s story.

Ryan Grim is the chief reporter for Glenn Greenwald's pro-Bernie webzine, The Intercept. He used to be a reporter for the HuffPost.

To summarize Tarable's story: 1. No evidence. 2. No witnesses despite taking place in a busy building in a public hallway loaded with cameras. 3. Never filed a complaint about rape/assault. 4. Can't recall the location, month, date, or time. 5. Claims to have been assaulted by seven people, including her father and two women. 6. Involved in financial scams. 7. Changed her story five times. 8. Continued to praise Biden through 2017. 9. Bernie Sanders supporter - waited until he lost to talk about Joe.
That would/will never fly in a court of law.

I’m sure it’s just a mere coincidence that she now claims she brought these accusations to the two leading candidates for Vice President. Of course there’s no record of it, just Tara’s word.. like everything else.

R117 None of these matters, the democrats already digged a big hole with Christine Blasey Ford, they will never ever be able to get out.

CBF didn't change stories. She didn't publicly praise her assaulter during most of the intervening period. She produced her therapist with corroborating notes going back decades. She wasn't politically motivated (Mitch would've selected another right winger in BK's place). She didn't run to SM, didn't run to the mass media, didn't tweet "Timing... Tick tock" to the Intercept. She resisted going public, and only did that after. being threatened with outing. She didn't taint her 'corroborators' recollections by coaching them with new allegations. She didn't refuse a polygraph, and testified under oath.

I think Reade is a fantasist, but that's still a ridiculous claim. Plenty of straight men don't think about the possibility of a woman menstruating at any given time.

Many women, especially the Fox-type women, have lost all sense of what's appropriate dress for the occasion. You see them wearing what should be considered cocktail dresses to work, and it's just embarrassing to see them. There is some weird mindset that makes them think "dressing up for work" means showing leg and wearing Louboutins. Kelly looks like a clown. Maybe Republicans think that women are only allowed to do their jobs if they're eye candy as well.

People who continue to draw a false equivalence between the Blasey-Ford and Reade situations are trolls and need to be banned. All it takes is 5 seconds of research to know that Blasey-Ford's claims were legitimate while Reade is an opportunist.
