Florida Man Protests Re-opening of Florida Beaches
by Anonymous | reply 93 | June 7, 2020 3:52 PM |
Brilliant, actually. There should be at least one grim reaper at every protest. Just to put things into perspective.

I think public outdoor spaces like big parks and beaches should be open. They can take some of the billions handed to business who did not need it, and hire unemployed people to be FRIENDLY health outreach workers. Walk around to people who are NOT social distancing and hand out pamphlets or masks and say "keep safe, have a nice day." There is only so much you can do.
Many many people including the media forget that the point of a lockdown is to slow the initial spread. So hospitals could deal, for example. Nobody ever said lockdowns would prevent the spread to more than 3/4 of the population, over time.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 2, 2020 2:21 PM |
Trump Sheeple are the only ones who would think it's inappropriate.

Yes, R9, there's nothing an aggressive leaflet campaign can't cure.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 2, 2020 2:48 PM |
R10 Just because one is woke about this "pandemic" and doesn't buy it, does not mean they're a Trump supporter. Many mainstreamers are waking up about this nonsense. You're a victim of weaponized cognitive dissonance. Mainstream Media distancing is the cure, hon.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 2, 2020 2:53 PM |
Well you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. Antagonizing MAGAs in parks, on beaches, isn't productive. Hand them a leaflet and remind them not to hurt anyone. You're not going to change these people.

R17---The part about sewage in the water is the point where the chain of communication/infection could and should be nipped. Seweage in the ocean/sea has only been a problem forever, though.

I know this doesn't belong here but...If one is in a high risk group, like a really high risk group, can one get out of work with a doctor's note? And collect? (If the workplace re-opens?) And so shouldn't black people not have to work right now because they are in a really ultra high risk group? I'm not going to sign my name to this but yes, I am in a VERY high risk group, no, I am not black.

Yes, because most Americans were out enjoying an active lifestyle before the Corona lockdowns.

Went to the beach on Friday. The deplorables are already ignoring the rules.
Miami and points north are already a mess from the spring vacations earlier this year. Now we start again??

Yes, it's so much safer to be cramped up with a dozens of people in an infested apartment than to be outside on the beach where everyone is spread out in the open air.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 2, 2020 7:03 PM |
Who’s in an “infested” apartment with dozens of people? Dozens? Really? Hyperbole much?
Even taking your situation into account: yes, it would be safer because those “dozens of people” have been together in the apartment for over a month. The chances of one of them having it is slim at best.
Introduce strangers into the equation, and....
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 2, 2020 7:43 PM |
Impressed he found a way to have a nice day out at the beach while simultaneously telling others they'll croak if they go to the beach.
Very Victorian!

by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 3, 2020 2:16 PM |
Yes, RFK Jr. is an opponent to vaccines. Everybody should listen to what this great American has to say. Then form your opinion.
RFKJr has a solid career fighting for environment and facing big companies polluting the environment. He ultimately provides plenty of facts every time he makes a point, it does not seem to me he is doing it for his own ego. If I have to choose between a guy that is onboard the vaccine industry for financial gains and a guy that is pleading for the freedom to choose... well I don’t have to think a lot to know who I will support.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 3, 2020 2:34 PM |

I recall back in a time of some pretty shameful behavior on the part of the Rhode Island Legislature we did a mock funeral with wooden coffin in black with flowers all around it and marched it around and laid it inside of the RI State House. It was so cool.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 3, 2020 11:32 PM |
So he's apparently raising money for Democratic candidates and going on a Grim Reaper tour of the state. His twitter is full of fun grim reaper souvenirs you can buy that presumably no one's handled in an unsafe way.
This is such fucking terrible optics in a swing state, someone should tell him to shut up but they won't.
✌Vote for death! ✌

by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 5, 2020 7:30 PM |
I think it's brilliant. People don't understand that they're putting themselves - and more importantly - others in danger when they flaunt self isolation and social distancing.

That may not be the message you're getting, R48, but that is indeed the message he is sending. The issue is on your end, not his.

Not cool and frankly an act of psychological intimidation that could in reality make someone sicker physically. It's perverse that some of you find this amusing or rational. Fuel for conservatives to fly with the "lunatic left" narrative. This guy isn't doing anyone ANY favors except to delight the terror-addicts coronuts of this board.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 5, 2020 7:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 5, 2020 7:47 PM |
Don't know why it bothers some people.
Death is around us all the time, in our homes, the supermarket, our place of work, etc. This gentleman is simply acknowledging that death is present at the beach, all the while death has been there the entire time. We just don't see, or expect it.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 5, 2020 7:47 PM |
Again, Mary, you need to get an existential grip. This isn't actual 'death' but an anthropomorphic representation of it. Nothing to fear here but the salmon mousse.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 5, 2020 7:48 PM |
[quote]Don't know why it bothers some people.
It doesn't. It's being pushed by people with an agenda, not because anyone is "bothered" by it.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 5, 2020 7:48 PM |
You're the left's equivalent of "open carry" protestors at Walmart thinking their public acts of intimidation are wonderfully complex political and philosophical statements. They're not. They're just cowardly acts meant to scare people into submission.
R58 Do you need peer reviewed articles to show you the effects of stress, fear and panic on the human body? You haven't offered a serious rebuttal; which shows you have none.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 5, 2020 7:49 PM |

R60 Signs and symbols rule the world. Thank goodness you're not intelligent enough to actually use this knowledge for any meaningful purpose.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 5, 2020 7:51 PM |
If his agenda is to get overheated on the beach, he wins!
Stress, fear and panic isn't coming out of some guy with a costume when the real threat should be enough to keep them off the beach. That it isn't means his efforts, whatever the agenda, are meaningless reminders of the inevitable.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 5, 2020 7:51 PM |
R62, since nobody here has said anything about any "complex political and philosophical statements," I'm afraid that, like your other posts here, you're simply randomly making shit up. Just as you are randomly making shit up about the so-called "stress, fear, and panic" that people are experiencing from this stunt.
I must admit it is amusing to see you digging that hole deeper and deeper but you really have embarrassed yourself enough by now and should seriously consider deleting your account and trying again with an audience that is considerably less discerning.

I'd like to point out that the Grim Reaper is out campaigning for Democratic candidates in Florida and none of you thinks this is a bad idea.
Plus he's campy and gleeful about it on Twitter. Oh, and he's doing a state-wide tour of the very same beaches he's warning his fellow citizens to stay off of... and he has merch!
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 5, 2020 7:53 PM |
R60, when you think you know something, you prove you don't.
Signs and sympbols are merely that. Actions rule the world, baby....and I like this man's actions just fine. In fact, I'd be asking for an autograph if I had the stupidity to ignore social distance.

Um, R69, why should we "think this is a bad idea?" I don't think it's either good or bad. It's a mildly amusing stunt, one that got him some attention and almost certainly isn't going to have any impact on the 2020 election.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 5, 2020 7:55 PM |

[quote]Yes, RFK Jr. is an opponent to vaccines. . . He ultimately provides plenty of facts every time he makes a point, it does not seem to me he is doing it for his own ego.
RFK Jr. does not provide facts when it comes to vaccines. He believes in the link between vaccination and autism, based on ONE fraudulent study by ONE person (Andrew Wakefield), who was harshly discredited and subsequently barred by the medical community for falsifying data. If there was any truth to Wakefield's findings, then the other researchers who duplicated his methods would have reproduced those findings. That they did not is evidence of his fraud. Conspiracy loons and idiot celebs like Jenny McCarthy latched onto his ideas and perpetuated the anti-vaxxer movement. Before all this, Wakefield published a paper proposing a link between the measles vaccine and Crohn's disease, another false hypothesis debunked by scientists. He is a joke – a quack interested in making a name for himself by whatever means. He is responsible for serious damage because the decrease of vaccinations brought the re-emergence of previously controlled diseases like measles, mumps, and whooping cough, causing needless suffering in children. THAT is Wakefield's legacy.
[quote]Everybody should listen to what this great American has to say. Then form your opinion.
I roll my eyes at RFK Jr. There is nothing great about a man who's cheated on all 3 wives, who practices deception for his own selfish ego. After filing for divorce from his 2nd wife, an addict who became suicidal, he brushed off her cries for help. He's not even a political candidate, yet he hides behind a fake public image. If he wants to sleep with many women, then he should stay single and stop pretending to be a family man. He admitted to his cheating only after parts of his diary (which detailed his affairs) was leaked to the media. Add to that his belief in the quackery of a lone ex-physician and you have a man of poor judgment, R38.
