Which actor aged the best in middle age?

After that, old age is old age. I say Leo, Sting and Matt.

by Anonymousreply 109January 2, 2021 3:04 AM

Matt who? And Sting the singer? Who has acted occasionally?

by Anonymousreply 1April 15, 2020 10:21 PM

Brad Pitt. He's aging rather gracefully, with a little help I'm sure.

Matt Bomer? Matt McConaughey?

by Anonymousreply 2April 15, 2020 10:34 PM

Matt LeBlanc.

by Anonymousreply 3April 15, 2020 10:36 PM

Leo looks like shit.

by Anonymousreply 4April 15, 2020 10:37 PM

Matt Bomer

by Anonymousreply 13April 15, 2020 11:28 PM

Brad Pitt, although he needs to get rid of the long hair. He has always looked his very best when sporting a very clean-cut, preppy look.

by Anonymousreply 14April 15, 2020 11:30 PM

Definitely not Leo. He’s unrecognizable from his Titanic days, and when he has facial hair looks more like Burl Ives. And it’s not inevitable that twinky blonds end up that way, since Ryan Phillippe (Leo’s age) and Charlie Hunnam (a few years younger) look much better.

by Anonymousreply 15April 15, 2020 11:32 PM

Dylan McDermott.

by Anonymousreply 17April 15, 2020 11:33 PM

Clooney, by far.

by Anonymousreply 18April 15, 2020 11:34 PM

Denzel Washington. Shit, Denzel was looking good for three decades through the first Equalizer. Then things finally started to get rocky over the past couple years. It’s only because he let the weight creep up on him, however. If he’d lean out, he’d still look good at 65.

by Anonymousreply 19April 15, 2020 11:35 PM

Sean Connery was much better looking after 40 .

by Anonymousreply 20April 15, 2020 11:39 PM

Hugh Grant is aging very nicely- which surprises me. I thought he would get jowly and butterfaced. He hasnt at all.

by Anonymousreply 21April 15, 2020 11:41 PM

I think Hugh Grant looks more handsome now than he did 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 22April 15, 2020 11:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 48April 16, 2020 12:58 AM

Matt Bomer is has just barely entered middle age. He doesn’t count for this. Give him about 10 more years then we can judge.

Now Paul Rudd is a great example.

Reese Witherspoon's ex-husband with the curly hair. I can't remember his name.

by Anonymousreply 58April 16, 2020 2:00 AM

You can tell he's a man of a certain age. He has that thing where his eyes look like they've receded more towards the centre of his face. I think it's common with eye jobs.

by Anonymousreply 59April 16, 2020 2:05 AM

I wouldn't look at him and think he's still in his thirties, never mind his twenties.

by Anonymousreply 60April 16, 2020 2:06 AM

R47 i agree with Frankie. Only know him in Grease but looked him up as an older man & he’s nice looking . Also Robert Wagner in Hart To Hart. He had to be old then. And Tab Hunter was handsome as an old man in Grease 2. Brad pitt was cute in the recent hollywood movie.

by Anonymousreply 61April 16, 2020 2:08 AM

Paul Rudd is the best example. He looks gorgeous and hot, but not like he's 25 or like he's some shiny stretched alien. He's found the right balance.

I have to say Bruce Willis has aged quite well. It's probably always helped that he's been bald for most of his career, so it's not like that was some shock when he suddenly had no hair.

Speaking of bad men, John Travolta looks pretty good now that he ditched the wig.

[QUOTE] Speaking of bad men, John Travolta looks pretty good now that he ditched the wig.

I thought you were lying like a rug (no pun intended), but after going through recent pics it seems he really did an Old Yeller on his hairpiece. He’s gone bald before only to give up and install some new carpeting, but it’s been well over a year now and he’s still rocking the chrome dome. Hats off to him (no pun intended).

RIchard Gere looked great well into his 50s/60s.

Ryan Phillipe has had too much obvious work for my taste and actually we’ve discussed it on here before.

But no man or woman ever aged as well as Paul Newman and no one ever will. So you could close the thread there.

The world tends to forget just how old Jason Bateman is. I think it’s the hair. That’s not what a 51 year old man’s hair is supposed to look like. I wonder if it’s a transplant.

by Anonymousreply 73April 16, 2020 4:02 AM

James Brolin and Sam Elliott, they look their age and very handsome

by Anonymousreply 74April 16, 2020 4:05 AM

John Saxon looked great in middle age.

by Anonymousreply 76April 16, 2020 4:10 AM

I think we can probably guess the relative ages of the posters by their choices. If you’re in your forties you’re thinking of someone like Matt Bomer, in your fifties you’re probably considering Rob Lowe, any older and you’re going to mention Sam Elliott.

So congratulations to the nearly 110 year old who chose Lloyd Bridges.

by Anonymousreply 77April 16, 2020 4:15 AM

Cesar Romero aged really well

by Anonymousreply 78April 16, 2020 4:17 AM

56 year old Rob Lowe looked pretty good until a few years ago. He shot a close up video from a diner not too long ago and you could see he has gotten noticeably over.

51 Year old Paul Rudd in January is a great example of someone who is aging best.

(Matt Bomer is far too young to be in this crowd at 42. He still looks good, but is noticeably getting older without makeup. None of that is surprising.)

Regarding today’s definition of “middle age,” I would say that in the old days (back when our beloved Ann Romano had her meltdown) it started around 38/40, now it starts about 45/50.

Thankfully, I don’t make the cut just yet.

by Anonymousreply 82April 16, 2020 5:25 AM

Aged well: Paul Newman, Richard Gere, Paul Rudd, Dylan McDermott, and Jason Bateman.

Tom Cruise looked really good in his late 40s when he was promoting Mission Impossible 4. His cosmetic surgeon was an artist. Ryan Phillippe hasn't aged much, but he looks tweaked. I think Brad Pitt also had cosmetic work, but he still looks tired.

Aged badly: Leo (hit the wall HARD), Hugh Grant (rough), Ben Affleck (bloated mess), Matthew Perry, and Val Kilmer (didn't he have cancer?).

Not an actor, but an athlete who aged very very well: Brett Favre. He was okay when he was young, but now? Wow. Sexy older man. He got more chiseled as he aged.

by Anonymousreply 83April 16, 2020 5:25 AM

Yes , the middle-aged version of Leo looks horrendous. It's not even the fat and wrinkles, it's that expression he always has now. Like he just smelled something repulsive. I first noticed it in The Beach, and over the years it seems to have engraved itself into his face.

by Anonymousreply 84April 16, 2020 5:53 AM

Cary Grant for the win! Elegant and impeccably coiffed well past middle age.

by Anonymousreply 85April 16, 2020 6:02 AM

Okay, he's just not aging well in my opinion. To each their own. He was incredibly hot just a couple of years ago.

by Anonymousreply 89April 16, 2020 6:20 AM

Sean Connery looked fantastic into his 60s. He didn't look that young - even in Dr. No, when he just 30 he looked older. That's the thing, he had incredible features and an awesome skeletal frame. So, he exuded masculinity.

Definitely not Leo. He looks like an Aryan-ized Olmec head these days.

by Anonymousreply 98April 17, 2020 5:48 AM

Leo has that permanent scowl and furrow line in between his eyebrows. It's probably so deep that botox couldn't even help anymore. Seems like that's his only way to emote, so he's given it quite a workout over the years.

by Anonymousreply 99April 17, 2020 7:02 PM

Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney.

Once you have that loose neck, is it permanent? Losing weight won't tighten things up?

by Anonymousreply 104May 2, 2020 4:02 PM

OP, if you are referring to Leo DC, he was never good looking and he has not aged well. No type of window dressing will make that face look pleasant.

by Anonymousreply 105May 2, 2020 6:17 PM

John Slattery looks good for whatever age he is and hasn't changed much.

Whoever upthread said Clooney, sorry I disagree. Lately he looks skeletal and frail with huge ears and older than his years. Not long before this when he was heavier and had the scruffy beard (facial hair not wife) he looked like Raymond Burr circa Ironside.

by Anonymousreply 106May 2, 2020 6:37 PM

Another vote for Brad Pitt. He’s much more appealing now than in his scrawny Thelma And Louise days.

by Anonymousreply 107January 1, 2021 7:09 PM

This is going to be controversial, but I think Justin Theroux looks good. Yes, I know it's all fake. Even the work that's been done on his work has had work. He does look pretty good, though.

by Anonymousreply 108January 1, 2021 7:21 PM

Brad Pitt looks great still, at a whopping 57 years of age. He's aged into total DILF (GILF?) now, and that's hard for a lot of pretty boys like he was to pull off. I cast my vote for him.
