Kind of, Tony was doing dinner theatre and Jerry was in real estate and in town on business. Tony invited Jerry to the show, eventually someone in the show had to drop out and Tony thought it would be nice to have Jerry fill in. Jerry did it on a whim and it was a hit with the audience. After that the "Still The Beaver Project" started.
