Dudes were HOT yet unremarkable-looking back in the late 70s/early 80s
And I’m here for it!
I’m 31, isolated at home and watching random old game shows on Sling.
Guys like the host of Super Password are sexy AF. I like that they all seemed to be well-dressed, witty and had that weird mid-Atlantic 1970s accent. No stupid gym queens.

Bert Convey was a handsome in the 70s, despite the hideous perm. He was a hot young man when he started out in the 50s, and he would've been a great-looking elder today. The right bone structure.

I had such a gayling crush on Mark Shera on "Barnaby Jones." It wasn't even clear that it was a sexual feeling at the time.
Sigh.

Who is Peter Tomarken? And why is he included on a list of good-looking men?

So this is basically a game shows of the 70s and 80s thread?
Also what does “hot yet unremarkable” mean?

Bert Convy was cute pre-perm.

Tomar Ken hosted Press a Your Luck, famous for “Big Bucks, No Whammies!” and the controversial game show scandal of the eighties where a contestant figured out the board’s pattern and stayed on for a couple of days just winning everything. It was all perfectly legal and he had to be awarded it all.
Pete and the other two contestants just sat there watching it all unfold.
Pete and Burt Convy died young, so they stayed handsome forever. Unlike, say, the guy from Love Connection.

Sling TV, sounds more like a kink porn channel than game shows, who came up with that?

S.W.A.T. only lasted 2 seasons, but it included Mark Shera, a young Robert Urich, and daddy Steve Forrest (from MOMMIE DEAREST).

What exactly does 'hot yet unremarkable' even mean? Wouldn't 'unremarkable' mean average? Or wouldn't hot mean that they WERE remarkable?

Paul Michael Glaser was hot as fuck and had a fucking hot ass.

R7, I too always thought Mark Shera was beautiful and actually a very good young actor in his day. (He was a great addition to “Barnaby Jones.) Never heard a word about his personal life, so always wondered if he’s gay, straight or somewhere in between.

Yeah, it’s BUZZR I was watching.
It’s funny because the channel doesn’t have enough advertisers and often sits on a “BUZZR WILL BE BACK!” screen during commercial breaks. I remember MSNBC was like that when I first got Sling.
“Hot yet unremarkable”... they’re sexy guys but not today’s ideal.

John Saxon (center) was a staple of made-for-TV movies, miniseries, and "Fantasy Island" guest spots.
Hot for days, utterly unremarkable looking.

Tony Lo Bianco was a spitter. I saw him on stage on Broadway in A View from the Bridge and I was sitting in the front row. When he got angry in one scene he sprayed us all .

R42 I know, but his views are so darn repellent and he has the IQ of a sea slug. I'm sure his looks played a part in getting him so far, it sure wasn't his brain.

Christopher Connelly (here in the unsuccessful TV version of PAPER MOON with guess-who). I think his career consisted of a lot of roles Ryan O'Neal rejected.

Thanks, R54. I thought they might have crossed paths at least once. Connelly never had O'Neal's matinee prettiness, but there is a resemblance.
