Bridge Over Troubled Water
Who sang your favorite version of this classic version? Too many people have covered it and arranged it to fit their style that I think a poll wouldn't fit them all. So post videos of the one you like best!
I'll start with my favorite version sung by Simon & Garfunkel from the concert in the park.

Vicki Brown gives a nice, relaxed vocal over a shit backing.

Paul Simon has admitted that he regrets his decision to give Art Garfunkel the vocals. He made the right decision, of course. I like his version too.

The Annie Lennox version is lovely.

The original got me through the pure shit winter of 1970. One of my top 10 songs and albums of all time.

I swear I heard Sinead O'Connor sing it somewhere at some point, but I don't see video or recording information as such. But her fragile, quieter voice would bring a level of introspection and heartbreak to it.

I've always liked the version by Buck Owens & His Buckaroos, which was a Country top ten hit.

Fuck! I throughly enjoyed Whitney’s vocal in both videos above. Her voice, technique and interpretation were exceptional.

Strange. I thought Natalie was the standout. It was fun to hear Whitney sing in a very butch alto next to CeCe, though.

I like Simon & Garfunkel but I hate this song. Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, Willie Nelson one of them should have been able to rescue it but it always sounds so drag queen dramatic and false.

I've never thought Art Garfunkel or Willie Nelson sounded drag queen dramatic.

R24, ditto. I much prefer Cecilia, Mrs. Robinson, and so many other songs of theirs.

They don't, it's the song does, R25. I meant that the song was so bad and overly dramatic that it pulls down the efforts of some very talented people.
Simon & Garfunkel did some brilliant songs, some of very very favorite and doubly so for standing the test of time when others don't. To my mind they are masters of the 2-minute perfect song. This piece of dreck isn't one of of their perfect or near perfect efforts.

Today was the first time I've heard Elton's version. I like the spin he puts on it, and it's a great showcase for his piano skills.
