I agree, that probably happened. A friend's father taught diction and dialect classes to journalism students years ago and he said there were some who weren't able to completely get rid of regional accents.

Why must be so over critical of people aging? If they go natural we say they look haggard, if they get plastic surgery they look like freaks. What I don’t understand is why an entity such as the federal government can’t step in about that.

Cuomo said they were paying 80¢ per mask and they’re now paying $7.00 for them because of gouging (his words, not mine). Someone smarter than me will have to explain why the federal government can’t step in and say, “Bitch please. You charged 80¢ and made a profit. You’ll sell them now for $1.00 so you’ll make a little more profit, but that’s it!”

Also why Cuomo isn’t shaming those companies publicly and saying they are engaging in profiteering during a pandemic I don’t get.

I am intrigued with Andrew vs Chris looks. Yes, there is a 12 year difference but 12 years ago Andrew did not look like Chris. Is it make-up artistry that Chris has available to him or just Andrew drew the short straw?

In their 20s Chris was a very handsome like a prince in a Renaissance painting while, Andrew looked like a “Godfather” extra - both very Italian but in different ways . Local governments in NYS are comparatively weak by virtue of state constitution and other factors. Across the river in NJ local governments are far stronger and have powers those in NY can only dream about.

There are so many ways Albany can (and does) fuck with NYC and other local governments. Mayors of NYC only recently got back control of pubic school system (under Bloomberg), and even that needs periodic extensions from Albany.

However there are reasons for so much power being concentrated in Albany, especially when it comes to local NYC government. Tammany Hall and so forth are top of that list.

The reason why Mario did not file for nomination was because of something his kids had been up to. It was said at the time IIRC. Chris would have been too young. And the mafia thing too. That could have just been a racist canard but remember the mafia was very powerful in New York then.

But if you never heard Mario on the issues facing America you have not heard the articulation of judiciousness and the height of political oratory. Obama is a trifle by comparison.

I watched his news conference today and, as I was listening to him, all I could think about was "fuck, I wish he was running the Federal Government now".

I just love how he paces his stories — he really keeps you engaged, you can’t stop listening because you’re waiting to hear what’s around the next corner. It’s kind of slow, methodical, maybe even a little Socratic lol?

He’s been a HERO for calling out Trump — very few seem able to do that. He’s amazing. Not sure I would want him in the WH, I’ll have to keep watching, but thus far, he is stellar.

Andrew looks awful--his skin is so flabby and saggy. I heard nothing but bad things about him as governor because all my new York friends thought he was corrupt, bullying, and vindictive, but although his face looks like a Shar Pei's ass, I have to admit that when i've seen him on other news shows than his brother's this week he's been statesmanlike and has shown a lot of presence.

I thought Andrew sounded sympathetic when he said Chris never wanted to be a lawyer but daddy Mario would have said, if you don't do what I say, get your ass out of this house. And that he admired Chris for taking the leap and leaving his law firm to be a journalist, even though Andrew worried and warned him it was too late.

Seems like a better-than-usual brotherly relationship - probably due to the huge age gap.
