The owner of Hobby Lobby is telling managers to keep the stores open because his wife had a "vision from God"

The wife is a "prayer warrior"

I wonder which god spoke to her.

She's a God Warrior!

by Anonymousreply 2March 22, 2020 2:02 AM

Nasty cunt pig. Anyone who shops there must be out of their mind.

by Anonymousreply 3March 22, 2020 2:03 AM

Dear God, I hope his customers flock to his stores.

by Anonymousreply 4March 22, 2020 2:13 AM

I just divided it. He has a net worth of 6 billion. If he divided up just 2 billion he could afford to give every of his 30,000 employees 100k each. So why don't they have better benefits?

Guess it wouldn't be worth it without that extra billion! They are NOT Christian but do deserve crucifixion.

by Anonymousreply 5March 22, 2020 2:17 AM

^ yeah, someone's going to ding me for the math but the point is they could get better benefits.

by Anonymousreply 10March 22, 2020 2:37 AM

I've hated them from way back. I wouldn't shop there if they were having a 2 for 1 sale on a cure for cancer.

by Anonymousreply 11March 22, 2020 2:48 AM

R11 I’m glad I don’t go around with a big assed chip on my shoulder like u.

by Anonymousreply 26March 22, 2020 5:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 27March 22, 2020 5:27 AM

R26 tons and tons of craft stuff, frames, etc. so I guess people are going out of pure boredom? I'm not saying it's a smart thing to do, but I suppose they must be grasping for activity or something.

by Anonymousreply 28March 22, 2020 5:28 AM
I'm not saying it's a smart thing to do, but I suppose they must be grasping for activity or something.

But you're supposed to BE HOME. They won't be bored if they catch this virus being out there buying glitter glue. What a dumb way to end up potentially dying.

by Anonymousreply 29March 22, 2020 5:30 AM

In my area, a woman tested positive for coronavirus after going on a cruise. A week or two later, five of her fellow churchgoers to date have tested positive as well, apparently the evidence shows that God does not actually keep viruses out of the churches.

Remember, God created the viruses too, He will provide them with humans to live in!

by Anonymousreply 30March 22, 2020 7:32 AM

This christian kleptocrat billionaire won't have much choice if business shuts down in USA as elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 31March 22, 2020 8:57 AM

I wouldn’t shop at that heinous hellhole if they had a clearance sale on ventilators, masks & Lysol wipes!

by Anonymousreply 32March 22, 2020 9:09 AM

They are open because people need to buy supplies to make masks.

by Anonymousreply 33March 22, 2020 10:01 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Christian, greedy owners of Hobby Lobby who will sue to keep their shops open. Weren't they the ones who used their deeply held Christian beliefs to fight against gay marriage?

by Anonymousreply 34March 22, 2020 10:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 36March 22, 2020 2:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 37March 22, 2020 2:20 PM

In my quiet prayer time this week, the Lord appeared before me to tell me that David frequently cheats on Barbara with male escorts. Glory!

by Anonymousreply 38March 22, 2020 2:25 PM

Isn't the owner of The Hobby Lobby the guy who bought all the fake Dead Sea scroll fragments and donated them to his Museum of the Bible?

by Anonymousreply 39March 22, 2020 2:38 PM

The "letter" and subsequent "emails" were tweeted by a disgruntled former HL employee. As of this DL post, no independent verification these "documents" exists.

I am no fan of HL. I think their religious posturing is downright disgusting. That said, all the people jumping on the hate tweet bandwagon without independent verification of these "documents" should be ashamed of themselves.

by Anonymousreply 40March 22, 2020 2:47 PM

If anyone gets Covid-19 because of them, they have blood on their hands.

We're projected to be worse than Italy. Fuck them. They ought to be sued.

by Anonymousreply 41March 22, 2020 2:51 PM

These "good" Christian's also like to close their stores and move to another new location for a tax break.

Can't stand them and will never step foot in their stores.

by Anonymousreply 42March 22, 2020 2:59 PM
They are open because people need to buy supplies to make masks.

LOL, STFU. You think THAT'S why he did this? This "Christian" is one of the most evil to walk the earth.

by Anonymousreply 43March 22, 2020 3:18 PM

What the fuck is the matter with you, R40? Everything about the letter is entirely in keeping with how these people live their lives and run their business. The information has been circulating on the internet for hours and hours and no one from Hobby Lobby has denied it.

Stop stirring shit.

by Anonymousreply 44March 22, 2020 3:34 PM

R40, it weren't true, you don't think HL's lawyers wouldn't have already filed to sue this person into oblivion? I'm pretty sure that disgusting family follows everything bad in the bible and ignore the parts about helping the poor and turning the other cheek.

by Anonymousreply 45March 22, 2020 3:39 PM

Between Fatso's MAGA rallies and the refusal of Hobby Lobby to close, it's a fine time to be a Democrat!

by Anonymousreply 46March 22, 2020 3:44 PM

Does Hobby Lobby run it's own troll farm? Reading this thread makes it suspect it does. Do they pay above minimum wage? I assume not.

by Anonymousreply 47March 22, 2020 3:45 PM

"I have never set foot in a Hobby Lobby .. and never will. "

I did once, many years ago. They had nothing of interest to me, no art supplies, all their shit seemed to be there for people like model train nutters or doll collectors. Very weird place, and almost entirely empty.

by Anonymousreply 48March 22, 2020 5:42 PM

R40, it's been a day...have they denied the allegations?

by Anonymousreply 49March 23, 2020 12:06 AM

R49: Not a peep yet.

R45: Not necessarily. Sometimes it's best just to ignore controversy.

by Anonymousreply 50March 23, 2020 12:22 AM

I suspect Barbara has driven a few U-Hauls in her day.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 51March 23, 2020 1:46 AM

R47 surprisingly they do pay above minimum wage. They were starting people at $15 hourly way years ago, when min wage was still under $10.00. There's benefits as well. They also close earlier than other stores, give off for holidays, and are closed Sundays. People in my area were clamoring to get a job there, Christian crap and all. This was after the recession, when people were fighting for any shit min wage jobs.

That pay rate has probably increased since that time, but I haven't looked at current pay.

However; Cons -- we all heard how they treated employees with an overreach in health coverage and a history with a religious agenda. People that applied were really dismayed to discover their conservative requirements regarding appearance. No piercings, tattoos, and so on. I know how DL feels about it, but I got the feeling it wasn't just about professionalism, because even with them concealed it was an issue -- they wanted wholesome types -- think A&F, but LDS style.

by Anonymousreply 52March 23, 2020 2:31 AM

$15 hourly wage* not way

by Anonymousreply 53March 23, 2020 2:32 AM

At least the employees will get to meet Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 54March 23, 2020 3:20 AM

I went into one for the first time just before Christmas and I was surprised that it was predominantly home accessories. I had always assumed it was like Michael’s, but 80% of their merchandise is silk flowers, [italic]Start Each Day With a Grateful Heart[/italic] wall decals, accent tables, and chicken-wire shadow boxes.

The funniest part was when my Molly Mormon sister saw the aisle of crosses and whispered, “This place feels like a cult store.”

Oh, irony.

by Anonymousreply 55March 23, 2020 3:21 AM

R54, will they wear the Christmas Shoes when they meet Jesus?

by Anonymousreply 56March 23, 2020 3:22 AM

Fuck them , they have nothing I need or want.

by Anonymousreply 57March 23, 2020 4:24 AM

Except masks.

by Anonymousreply 58March 23, 2020 4:47 AM

Masks, no. But I'm sure they have white hoods in there.

by Anonymousreply 59March 23, 2020 4:51 AM

I hope they all die.

by Anonymousreply 60March 23, 2020 5:05 AM

R41 you can bet there are going to be lawsuits. Wait until on of their employees gets infected, becomes a vector and takes her asymptomatic infection home and kills Grandma. Fuck them and their bullshit God stories. You can bet they’re not visiting the open stores. But in the meantime, they’ve got poor people doing their dirty work, which is further proof there is no god.

by Anonymousreply 61March 24, 2020 4:14 AM

I wonder if heaven will be just getting to watch people like this, who thought they were good christians, get sent to hell.

by Anonymousreply 62March 24, 2020 5:28 AM
Isn't the owner of The Hobby Lobby the guy who bought all the fake Dead Sea scroll fragments and donated them to his Museum of the Bible?

It's funny if you examine all the accounts of visions from God it's pretty clear they were a little bit of crazy. Seriously seeing burning bushes, well that one could be real if lightning hit the right place but visions of Jebus, Gawd and the crew. Not so much else it could be but craziness.

by Anonymousreply 66March 25, 2020 8:54 PM

R66, There's a lot that has reality-based explanations. Manna from heaven was likely something from an insect, similar to how we get honey from bees. The great flood likely is just referencing the seasonal flooding of the Tigris and Euphrates.

by Anonymousreply 67March 25, 2020 11:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 68March 26, 2020 2:36 AM

From cleveland.com:

Hobby Lobby is owned by David Green, a white evangelical Christian who says his faith guides the way he does business. (I’m using white as an adjective here, because in the U.S., white evangelicals are different political animals than evangelicals of all other races.) In a March 19 memo to his thousands of employees, Green assured them “God is in control” and ended the note with a mention of Hobby Lobby’s Statement of Purpose, written in 1972: “We believe that it is by God’s grace and provision that the Company has endured. He has been faithful in the past, and we trust Him for our future.”

A few years ago, as people across the country were protesting abusive police departments, white evangelicals often quoted Romans 13, the Apostle Paul’s admonition to obey authority, essentially using it as a weapon to bludgeon other Christians who might have joined those protests.

But all that’s in the past. During this current crisis, a disturbing number of white evangelicals seemed to have abandoned the belief that the governing authorities were established by God and are, therefore, meant to be obeyed. Now they’ve been defying the authorities in an effort to keep open their religious schools, hold large worship services and even run arts and crafts stores.

Given the seriousness of what we’re facing, every large institution – especially those that claim to be godly and loving – ought to be doing what it can to protect the greatest number of people. Opening arts and crafts stores amidst a crisis such as this does the opposite; it puts a large number of people at risk.

by Anonymousreply 84April 3, 2020 6:04 PM

Now they're closing their stores. And they won't pay their employees. Did God tell them rip off their workers?
