Seth Doane and his husband are quarantined with the Coronavirus in Italy.
Six CBS News employees have been diagnosed with COVID-19, including foreign correspondent Seth Doane. Appearing on "CBS This Morning" on Monday from his home in Rome, Italy, Doane described his symptoms, testing and coronavirus diagnosis, and his experience living under quarantine.
His first symptom, he said, was, "I coughed a little bit, just enough to worry the people I was with here. We were out working covering this story. I started to have a little bit of a cough that worried me. For the most part, I feel okay. As we know, this is a deadly virus. It can be incredibly serious, a major respiratory illness. So far I've been lucky. I've had a chest pressure almost like you feel like you've done a big chest workout. I've had a little bit of a cough. I had a relatively mild fever. I've had kind of weird aches and pains in places I'm not used to. But honestly, I feel like I've had colds and flus worse than this. I've never been totally out for the whole day in bed. I've been up, able to talk with people. So for me, luckily, it's been quite mild.

I’m sick of these people bragging about their test results. Sick people who aren’t ‘important’ can’t access them. It’s like bragging about being quarantined at your house in the Hamptons.
Shut up about your privilege, bitches. You get paid sick leave.

So, basically, Coronavirus is like having the flu. Got it.

I’m pretty much quarantined in my house in the Hamptons. The I live here year round. Unfortunately, when they closed the private & parochial schools in the city, all the second home people poured out here. I haven’t been to the supermarket since Thursday and it was Friday when I noticed the summer houses in my neighborhood are opened as if its Memorial Day. Not sure if supermarkets & drugstores have a “winter stock” and a larger “summer stock” for all the 10s of thousands of people who come here during the season.
It’s probably a good thing that restaurants are now takeout only because they surely don’t have summer staff numbers of workers and would’ve been inundated.

... until, just when you think you're recovered, it attacks your heart, and you die.

Irreversible lung damage. He’s going to have that cough for a long, long time.

R5 We shut our chalet in Saas Fee and returned to Geneva though we'd rather be in our house in Cap d'Antibes. Unfortunately, we sold our G500 in November and NCE is being picky about entries. We aren't VIP enough.

PBS Correspondent Christopher Livesay (who is based in Rome like Seth Doane) is replacing Seth Doane to report on what's happening in Italy for CBS, while Seth is still under quarantine
