California is giving up in quarantining
California is saying that the cat’s out of the bag and community spread is unstoppable.
Quarantining will no longer be enforced— officials hope that after the majority of people get it, they can rely on herd immunity to prevent further spread to the elderly

What?!? I thought herd immunity was when you relied on many of the members of the community being vaccinated, no? There is no vaccine fir this virus. Am I confused?

And, no link attached to a reputable source.
Yeah...this is trustworthy.

But if people were all to get it and treat it under a controlled manner then it would work. However, it has to be controlled.

Quarantining was never enforced.

Sure thing, Ja-Trump. Try to blame California.

I live in California, and I can assure OP is doling out BS. We're all taking cover and quarantining. My company has mandated a work-from-home program until June 1st.

The virus will take a break come summer, then will resurface come next winter.
It is true that the cat is out of the bag. The more densely populated your city, the truer that statement is.
I’m not freaking out. It’s counterproductive. Make informed choices and err on the side of caution, and you will be fine. If not, then there wasn’t much you were able to do to stop getting infected, since that opportunity was missed in November of 2019.

R7 is right. I live in Southern California and he's being about as truthful as fucking Joel Osteen. Ignore this man. We're doing our best down here.

CA here too. Yesterday was the last day I was out and about for a while. Working from home starting next week. Normally hear a lot of traffic in my area and today it's very quiet. Almost everyone I know is working from home, staying home, etc. Everyone here is in self isolation for the most part. So far, only 55 people have died nationwide. Not too bad, for now. And yes it will grow but when we hit more than 60,000 dead from it (which is how many died last year from the flu) then I will be worried. OP is lying.

OP is the same poster who started the thread “CA sets in motion succession from the US.”

It [italic]has[/italic] been more quiet, right? I don't know if that's global pandemic bias speaking or not, but things feel way more low key, at least in places other than grocery stores. I can definitely feel tension and caution, but a reluctance to [italic]completely[/italic] let go of routine. I know a lot of us hikers are excited as, depending on the trail, it's a relatively isolated experience, and I'll still see a person or two jogging in the morning.

Even if we assume we're all going to get it at some point, we want to spread it out as much as we can so people can get the medical attention they need and effective treatment can be developed. I hope this is not real, but based on the reactions to Trump's travel ban, this seems eerily plausible.

OP is full of shit. There's no proof that herd immunity will work. The problem is that the US doesn't have any testing or instructions coming from the Federal level like we should, it's like every county or State is making it's own policies. We can't do anything if we have no test kits. This is like a WTF situation.

I work for a huge HMO but thankfully, I don't have in person contact with patients, it's mostly telephonic. Anyway, I do feel sorry for healthcare workers who come in contact with patients on a daily basis In the hospital, they've run out of masks and a lot of it is due to people stealing them.
It would be impossible to quarantine healthcare workers because we would end up not having any staff but at the same time, they risk being exposed and also exposing others. It's a no-win situation, made the worse because that PIECE OF SHIT in the WH dismantled our Pandemic Emergency Response team Obama started. There really is no guidance and horribly, not enough test kits.

Not total bullshit. While people will self quarantine and schools will be closed to slow spread, in the end everyone understands the virus will get tons more people

Tuberculosis death rates in the USA in the 19th and early 20th century were colossal, and HIV/AIDS had a 90% morbidity in the 1990's.
The percentage of fatalities for Covid-19 is 1 - 3%, tiny in comparison, and manageable.
If 'Herd Immunity' does indeed work out then it's a really good option.

Herd Immunity is a theory but a lot of people would have to be exposed.
Has this slowed the virus in China? There are millions of people already infected.

The 'test kits' are not specific for Covid-19. They are just the usual tests docs use to test respiratory illnesses. So far.
This is a massive fail of our government. At first sign, they should have done what they are doing now. But months were lost.
