Interesting post [R163] on the lively new DL site. The poster thought Heughan doesn't see himself as a ' closeted homosexual '. He may take exception to the closeting not the homosexual description. I would imagine he does not conceal his true sexuality from his friends and all those who work with him and for him, so therefore in his eyes he is not closeting. It's a credible distinction. He may very well feel that it is nobody else's business but his own, alas for him the HW publicity machine demands that he play the macho, hetero male.. Before OL it has always seemed to me that he still kept a certain ambiguity about his sexual orientation in public, in private it appeared otherwise. In his eyes he has not changed the way he handles his sexuality but unfortunately for him fame has brought intense and intrusive interest in his public and private life. Well, that was kind of a rodeo the last days for gay actor Sam Heughan and his PR Jennifer Allen.

On the first view his rant on IG got his hardcore fans in line and stopped the critic posts on SM. There are still fans out there, who think, he is ginger Jesus (as someone stated on tumblr).

On the long run it was just putting a plaster on a serious injury.

Sam Heughans career is on the downhill road. He is trapped in his role as Jamie Fraser, he stately made clear is not him on his IG rant. He was so desperatly and with a lot of work trying to make it to HW. He failed for many reasons. Wrong advisers, wrong scripts, wrong roles for him. He is definetly no action hero, no comedian. Even in his Hallmark movie he acted wooden and was a misplaced cast.

He is an average actor, when out of his comfort zone. I give him respect for his roles at a "Very British Sex Scandal" and I liked him in "Emulsion".

Outlander was his last straw, he was cute and sexy looking in the first two seasons. Then Diana Gabbaldons writing was no longer adaptable to the screen and he can obviously not carry the ageing scottish warrior. He is just not the physical type for it. He is not manly enough for it.

The same for all of us, when getting older, your natural behaviour gets more visible. So, gay actor will not getting more manly during ageing.

His income is built on his role as Jamie Fraser. All his selling whiskey and scarfs is based on his role as Jamie Fraser. He knows, that all his investments rely on this. And there are a couple of people who live on him. His MPC will survive, may be with much lesser participants next year.

Staying in Hawaii, against all advices beforehand and ignoring gouvernment advices to leave is just miserable. And, as other stated, he is not "stuck there". There are still regular flight connections until today.

And there is still this bearding, that was so much bad handled. Everything went out of control and ended in his IG rant.

Anyway, as I said a couple of posts as mentioned above: His HW career is over, well there was never one. And I am still not sure, whether there will be a S6 of Outlander due to Corona and Brexit. And in the moment I ca not see any new HW casting him. There are tons of other good looking and talented actors out there. May be, he will earn some money with his Clanlands TV show in Scotland. But the time of big incomes is over and also the money for 1000/night at a Hawaii rentals.

And he knows it. May be, that is the reason, he is still in Hawaii. Coming back to the real world in the next week will be very hurtful.

And concerning Jennifer Allen and her PR for gay actor Sam Heughan. When Outlander ends he will not have the money to pay her anymore. He has no steady income from his acting since S 6 and Bloodshot. According to him he gets no salary from MPC. May be a couple of thousands from his Great Glen Company. He will have a comfortable life in his paid apartment. He will still get his Audi on reduced leasing rates, because they sponsor people, who may be influencers since 20 years.

He will dissapear in the Nirvana. And probably we will not discuss him here in an about one year.

Worth a glance for the comments, even with the poster in-fighting and the boring fashion commentaries.

Death threats must be very distressing but I agree with you his outburst may also have been prompted by his frustration at his obvious lack of HW success . It has always seemed bizarre to me that an actor should wait for a decade or more for a big break in his career and then when it happens he decides to sell Whisky and Tartan scarves !. Never thought about it before but it is true as we age our natural behaviour does become more visible. Imagine he will slowly sink into obscurity , remembered only by a small hard core of fans and repeats of Outlander on the TV.

Why now? Primarily the Lady Gaga event. He took a hit with his stupid ‘Excuse me?’ tirade on the twitter Q and A – it bled out into the broader press, with well-known figures like Perez Hilton calling him out. And he was also being attached to reports of Covid stupidity by far more well-known actors. It is just lucky for him that he is hardly known outside the OL world and so not that much notice was taken of him in the big picture. Lady Gaga and most of the others probably had no idea of who he is. JA is a very effective operator, with some heavy hitter clients. She is very good at getting clients onto shows, into press articles, etc. and she probably put quite a bit of efforts into getting him on the Gaga list, and it’s not in her interests to have clients looking like idiots and potentially being removed from lists. She has her standing to look after too. In PR it’s TIE (Timing Is Everything). Has it worked? In the short term, yes. Great switchbait. Deflected the focus from his ridiculous covidiocy. He played the victim, shoved a variety of unrelated issues into a general rant and managed to equate completely unacceptable privacy issues and threats with legitimate calling out, criticism, speculation and gossip....

Next bit.

Stalking: No, this is NEVER acceptable – neither is hacking, invading family and friend privacy, trolling, defamation. But this can’t be the first time he raised this? The OL fandom are obsessed – surely the crazies were operating before? [yes, they were – he has complained (quite justifiably) a couple of times in the last years about stalking etc and raised the prospect of legal action (good for him) – this ‘I’ve never spoken about it because I believe in humanity and have always hoped these bullies would go away’ is just a lie]. It shouldn’t ever happen, but it does. In the longer term it may only get worse if he does make the A-List. Mental Health: In the short term, a winner – no-one wants to be seen to be damaging someone’s mental health, and any criticism will be slammed by his fans as doing just this – ‘I’m so hurt by this’. He has also no doubt been really disappointed that Bloodshot flopped. But in the longer term, problematic. HW heavyweights don’t give a rats about an actor’s mental health overall. They are only interested in whether he/she will turn up, be line ready, keep red carpet appointments, not get papped having a meltdown, and basically whether they will keep the dollars coming in – and so far he hasn’t got much of a movie CV going for him. If he comes to be seen as a needy wimp, he’ll be seen as boring and just too much effort. HW is a cold place.

His sexuality: ‘Accused’ of being a ‘closet-homosexual’. A ‘normal guy’? Speculation about an actor’s sexuality has always been around. It is not an accusation, and he comes across as a homophobe using that word. He probably threw it in the mix of deflection because he’s after more action man type roles (Didn’t he say in that podcast that he was looking at some football related roles?). Short term it could reassure some powerbrokers that he isn’t going to come leaping out of any closet. Longer term, he could end up working with closeted/gay actors, directors, casting agents etc who will remember this – most won’t care but some will. Social media: Well, he has one definite mental issue – SM addiction. It’s very common but needs to be addressed. A useful tool is to practise S and F – short and few – PR agents hammer this over and over again. Some listen, some don’t. Don’t angry tweet, don’t drunk tweet, mute and scroll on. He needs an intern to vet his posts. That long, long, long rant needed to be cut down by at least three quarters. He could have got his points across but the more he said the more he left to be picked over in the future by anyone interested – and powerbrokers can be. And think before you press send – he needs a 30 second pause function on the keyboard. If he hadn’t got into a snarling session in that Q and A, very little of this would ever have been necessary. State of Play: Has he won? For the moment yes. He’s re-written the narratives, deflected legit criticism, set the fandom police onto both the stalkers (never OK) and the legit commentators, and he’s back on the pedestal (Pandemic? What pandemic? Even a hint of real empathy would have done wonders). But he’s lucky that he isn’t yet a HW star and that outside OL very few have heard of him. He can cover his tracks after the fuck-up. In the longer term, out of the OL bubble it’s tough, and princess needs to suck it up.

So Hercules is now the big push on his twitter feed. Well. he doesn't seem to have anything else (unless there is something in the wings that he isn't saying, but that is not his style). Bloodshot tanked, he was hardly mentioned with TSWDM, a lot of speculation across SM that OL is winding up, with S6 to be the last - Ed Speelers killed off early, David Berry announcing he's not in the show anymore (even though he has major story arcs in the later books), the storyline going even further off on a tangent even though the acting overall has improved from S4, ratings very mediocre (even counting the app viewers this is probably still the case), SAS Red Notice not yet sold, An Unquiet Life a niche product, no real buzz for him as Bond apart from manipulated betting figures. No big break (yet anyway) - has all the game-playing been worth it?

Summary, not in order of relevance:

Gay Actor Sam Heughan and his rottweiling Jennifer Allen from Viewpoint PR are still working overtime on getting the sheep back to the fenced paddock.

Season 5 of Outlander obviously was not a great hit for Starz. We only see the cable based rates and not what is sold on the STARZ app or on Amazon worldwide. And even this does not look like a great hit.

In the moment there is no announcement, that Outlander Season 5 will be air in Germany in the next months on free TV. I remember that before Season 3 (or 4) started they did a rerun of the saison after the Primetime and it was cancelled after a couple of episodes.

Outlander in Germany is outdated as far as I can see and probaly dead. In the moment I can not see any german TV broadcaster buying the rights. May be, if they run out of stuff to broadcast because of Corona, they may be buy it for cheap money.

As said from the showrunners they will be back filming in the autummn:

Heughan can really act well with the right project, but he's always going to be underplayed for the over-rated Balfe in OL - her next GG nom coming in 3,2,1..., and with OL S6 filming pushed well back, it may not be released until 2022. That's a long time to maintain the attention, and apart from An Unquiet Life and SAS Notice, there doesn't seem to be much on the horizon, at least publicly. Hope he doesn't have too long a hiatus as every time he's at a loose end, the wheels fall off, and he doesn't need more spitty fits and clumsy beardings. RELATED: in 1988 a beautiful young US gay mathematician was murdered in my country (he had decided to settle here with the boyfriend he met during his studies here). I don't think there is much debate these days about SM being gay.
