I first became aware of him when he played the missionary in James Michener's "Hawaii" screen adaption.

Excellent actor. Beautiful voice. So good in everything he did.

I first saw him when I was a young kid watching "Conan The Barbarian." Small part in a schlocky film, but he elevated it.

I was amazed to find out that he was only 44 when he played Father Merrin in The Exorcist. Yes, the makeup made him look like an elderly man, but it was the way he embodied the character that made him so convincing in the role. Such a great actor.

No sympathy here.

I could never get over what he did to Sunny.

Loved him in Bergman's Hour of the Wolf.

I shook his hand at a banquet that a Swedish American society had for him in the early 90s. I remember he ordered the chocolate cake and thought, yeah, you're my kind of guy.

I agree, [R16]. He had a kind of masculinity that isn't around much anymore.

He had a long career. Kept working when he was older. I though his best film was "Shame."
