I Loathe Jeanette Nolan.

How the hell did that posturing. act-by-numbers woman ever get work?

John McIntire didn't have that much pull.

by Anonymousreply 40March 18, 2020 5:38 PM

She was one of the finest character actresses in the 50s and 60s. She could adapt to anything.

by Anonymousreply 1March 3, 2020 12:55 AM

I LOVE Jeanette Nolan. She had a show that was a spin off of Gunsmoke...Dirty Sally.

What an odd object of hate! It’s the equivalent of having an obsession with Hope Emerson.

by Anonymousreply 3March 3, 2020 1:25 AM

let it out OP

by Anonymousreply 4March 3, 2020 1:32 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 5March 3, 2020 1:35 AM

Didn't she play Lady MacBeth for Orson Welles?

by Anonymousreply 6March 3, 2020 1:37 AM

She learned how to carve a pistol out of soap.

by Anonymousreply 7March 3, 2020 1:40 AM

She always seemed to be a murder suspect on "Perry Mason".

by Anonymousreply 8March 3, 2020 2:03 AM

Oh, how I love DL .

by Anonymousreply 9March 3, 2020 2:04 AM

The young are so proud of their ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 10March 3, 2020 2:06 AM

She saved Col. Sanders ass. His Kentucky Fried Possum didn't fare well in focus groups, and she told him so.

by Anonymousreply 11March 3, 2020 2:06 AM

I wondered if this could be the same Jeanette Nolan of 'Dirty Sally' fame, and it is! There's only one Jeanette Nolan, thatsfershur.

by Anonymousreply 12March 3, 2020 2:06 AM

Alma slept with a convict and kept him prisoner.

by Anonymousreply 13March 3, 2020 2:07 AM

R6 No, she played Lady Macbeth.

by Anonymousreply 14March 3, 2020 2:17 AM

I would watch "Dirty Sally" to catch Dack Rambo shirtless, which he was. Often. The show's opening sequence had an up-close shot of his face and his beautiful left nipple. He died from a head-on auto collision at the age of 25. RIP.

r15...are you an idiot ? Dack Rambo died of AIDS

by Anonymousreply 16March 3, 2020 3:12 AM

r15....Dack Rambo had a twin brother Dirk who was killed in a car crash at 25

by Anonymousreply 17March 3, 2020 3:14 AM

I stand corrected. I found the information about the auto crash from a "Dack Rambo" search on the internet.

by Anonymousreply 18March 3, 2020 3:20 AM

The Rambos were so fine. Jeanette? Not so much.

by Anonymousreply 19March 3, 2020 3:23 AM

The Rambo bros were discovered by Loretta Young. I’m

by Anonymousreply 20March 3, 2020 3:55 AM

She was a member of the repertory cast of The Richard Boone Show, appearing in 13 episodes. In 1963... i would memorize stuff like this at age 11. .... i wish it had gotten me further in life.

I was enamored of her son, actor Tim McIntire. He died way too young at 41. Issues with drugs and drink helped to exacerbate heart problems.

The Twilight Zone episode "Jess-Belle" is one of my favorites. I thought her performance deserved an Emmy nomination.

God, she really stunk up an episode of The Mothers-In-Law, in which she played a Scottish nanny with an annoyingly heavy brogue. It's the worst episode of the series. (On another ep, she played Kaye's Italian grandmother, heavily made up in a white wig and unrecognizable. She wasn't as bad).

And she appeared as Rose's mother on an episode of The Golden Girls. It's one of the worst episodes of that series.

Her talent was in radio where she made a name for herself in the 40s. Her TV performances were not as good.

by Anonymousreply 25March 10, 2020 10:35 PM

She was awful......hammy is the best way to describe her..... But mostly very please with herself.

The above mentioned son Tim was always rumored to be the son of Orson Welles....you can sort of see it...

by Anonymousreply 26March 10, 2020 10:53 PM

I checked her Wiki page & I was surprised to learn she was the (uncredited) voice of Mrs. Bates in Psycho.

by Anonymousreply 27March 10, 2020 11:10 PM

Jesus, OP. How OLD are you???

by Anonymousreply 28March 11, 2020 7:49 AM

I ADORE Hope Emerson.

So much better than was Minerva Urecal.

Dack Rambo died at age 52 in 1994 of complications from AIDS.

[quote]Didn't she play Lady Macbeth for Orson Welles?

Yes, but not terribly well. I think I tend to exaggerate my memories, and I saw the movie only once, and that was many years ago, but I seem to recall that at the end of her mad scene, she exited by running away from the camera and off into the distance, crying "Woo-woo!" as though she had studied acting technique with Daffy Duck.

by Anonymousreply 31March 16, 2020 4:07 AM

R28, you seem to associate your 48 years with youth and youth with ignorance.

We associate you with idiocy. Sorry you don't know anything about anything. And you don't watch reruns of old shows.

by Anonymousreply 32March 16, 2020 4:09 AM

She could be effective in certain character roles, but whoever said she was a bit of a ham had it right. And sometimes she was a whole lot of ham.

Her voice was used as Mother in "Psycho," but hers wasn't the only one. Virginia Gregg, a prolific character actress who worked constantly in radio and also television, also provided Mother's voice in some scenes. It's Gregg's voice you hear doing the final speech.

by Anonymousreply 33March 16, 2020 4:12 AM

Saw her this week in 'My Blood Runs Cold' starring Troy Donahue and Joey Heatherton.

Jeannette had outrageous costumes and hairstyles that weren't merited by her part.....directed by William Conrad before he started his Cannon series. In fact he directed a series of "thrillers" for Warner Bros. around this time.

She was as awful in this as she was in anything. I only really like her in 'The Big Heat' where she has some good scenes with Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame.

If you look up Lady Ham in the Oxford English dictionary, you either get a picture of Jeanette Nolan or a close up of Dolly Parton's punani.

It's like the secret prize in a box of Cracker Jacks!

Tim McIntire was obviously Jeanette's son with Orson Welles. It's not just a rumor. He looked JUST like Orson as well as having a very similar voice. Props to John McIntire for raising the boy as his own and sticking with his wife till the end.

I like Jeanette in some things and not in others. As somebody else noted, her best performances were in radio.

The linked photo is of Tim.
