I’ve worn glasses since I was 18 - even though I didn’t REALLY need them until late 20s. In retrospect, when I look at pictures of me then, I wish I didn’t wear them when I looked so good. I feel I looked better without them. Now at 50, they are a godsend.

In the 80s - tortoise shell glasses / the preppy look was very in. Being the gayling I was, I took the look to the nth degree. Brooks Brothers, Izod, tennis sweaters. With my part time job money, I bought clear tortoise shell glasses at Merry Go Round. (How much more 80s could I be, right?)
Oddly, 35 years later, tortoise shell glasses are in again. So I have almost the exact same pair.
I’ve always been WASPy looking - tall, thin, very white. I could never be the Chelsea boy bodybuilder type. So I went with the nerd look. Which I am.
