Michael Jackson believed that David Geffen sank his career
MJ's crazy makeup artist claims that Michael told her this:
"These folks are all gay...what is their problem with MJ? I know when MJ didn’t reciprocate/appreciate Geffens advances, Geffen turned on him. That’s what MJ told me."
Also from Vanity Fair: “… Jackson reportedly hates Geffen for being a part of what he calls Hollywood’s “Gay Mafia,” which he believes sank his career.”...Jackson began his quest for revenge by forking over $150,000 to a witch doctor named Baba, who put a hex on the Hollywood bigs three years ago in Switzerland, the mag says.
“David Geffen be gone! Steven Spielberg be gone!” chanted Baba, who assured the Gloved One that Geffen – who heads DreamWorks Pictures with Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg – would be dead within one week.

Karen's a fruit loop. Michael Jackson was not Geffen's type.

Sure Karen. David Geffen had Keanu.

Michael sank Michael's career. We all knew how inappropriate his behavior was waaay before Jordie Chandler's allegations became public.

Besides the obvious reasons, the musical landscape changed greatly in the early-mid 1990s after grunge broke through. With a few exceptions, the pop and hair metal acts of the 80s were mostly jokes.

Can I get the same "hex" put on me, please?

his behavior way before the revelations about diddling kids came to light sank him.
freaky bodily transformations. disappearing up his own backside for some concocted image (Madonna also did this, btw). lack of musical evolution. drugs.
people got tired of his shit.
plus, didn't Quincy Jones say he outright stole from other people? and then thought he could get away with it because he was well known and had money. disgusting.

Isn't that a compliment to any musician? That no other than MJ thought your work good enough to steal?

Michael Jackson could never look at the man in the mirror. Although that song sounds awfully condemning now that I think about it.

R10 there's inspiration, then there's outright stealing shit that people had sent to him for a listen/possible writing credit/etc, then not paying them and saying "oh, well!" when they complained.
from what Jones said, he was doing the latter. in other words-plagiarism.

There was a big decline in his artistic quality, that was directly related to his pedophelia. He always had to include children in his videos and concert performances. Everywhere he went boys were with him. I remember at the time people were perplexed as to why he always had kids around, and in his performances. He didn't do that at his peak in the Off the Wall and Thriller days. When he did the Bad tour, that's when boys were always on stage with him. It was off-putting to a lot of people.

R12 yeah, in their shoes I would have taken him to court, only to force him to acknowledge he's used my work, but i would feel honoured regardless all the same.

David Geffen bought the services of gay porn star Ryan Idol, a real hottie. Michael Jackson doesn't even remotely fall into that category and I do not believe that David Geffen made advances toward him - some really bad, bizarre rumors. Michael was not in a good frame of mind, to put it mildly.

R14 taking people to court is predicated upon having the money to do so.
our justice system is largely one of "mo' money, mo' justice".
the mere threat of a rich & connected person's lawyer team is enough to make most people go away, even if their claim is just.

I don’t think it was the child molestation stuff so much as all the other weird shit like the skin bleaching, continuous surgical procedures, and having surrogate white kids who he insisted were biologically his. The strange relationships with women. Then again I guess when you put it all together, yeah, the allegations didn’t help. Michael might have gotten away with a lot of this stuff in the past when an artist had more privacy, but in the modern era it was just madness. He couldn’t have been more of a weirdo.

Jackson hadn't been physically attractive since the early 1980s!
But I actually wonder if Geffen did something righteous for once in his life, and worked to destroy the pedo's career? Or if the Gay Mafia decided that having a celebrity NAMBLA member around was bad for their image? Well, anything is possible, except Geffen demanding sexual favors from an oversurgeried freak.

Perhaps it was MJ's frolicking naked and coercing young boys into sexual intimacy that caused the perceived dip in his popularity. Just spitballing here.

Michael was so manipulative of other people, including his fellow entertainers. But most of them were so thirsty for publicity that they could look the other way regarding his eccentricities and kiddie diddling. During his heyday, just about every pop and R&B performer dropped Michael’s name in their interviews. Patti Austin was one of the worst offenders of this. I love her music, but she couldn’t get five minutes into any interviews without mentioning his name. And she was one of many...she shut up when the molestation allegations were made public. Only after his death did she start name dropping again. Dionne did too...outrageous lies about them being BFFs...I don’t think so.

(dis)honorable mention of that neckless troll Flo Anthony. Did the family pay her or something? Every time new allegations came out, her dumpy ass was in front of a camera, trying to deny it. Hated her overbite and her tacky weaves too.

MJ invited young Justin Timberlake to visit Neverland, but when he peeked out the drapes he saw Britney accompanying Justin he blew a fit. “Shit! What’s SHE doing here?”
At USA For Africa, MJ timidly hid behind a large stack of amps because he was afraid of Bruce Springsteen. He was coaxed out by Diana Ross to shake Bruce’s hand, and supposedly gave him one of those little timid handshakes that children give adults. Bruce was supposedly tanked up with testosterone, having had a great night at the Grammys and rode to the session on his motorcycle and wearing leather. MJ used his baby voice for a few begrudging words of greeting and then retreated behind the amps, whispering with Diana Ross, until Bruce mixed with the other crowd and MJ found it ‘safe’ to come out again.
There were other female superstars that were supposed to attend by MJ squashed it, because he was intimidated by their sexuality but also because he wanted to make LaToya a star and knew the more women (esp white women) there the less attention she would get.
