I think John Boy teaches acting somewhere. I really liked the show but, looking back, they all seem nameless and interchangeable. I was probably infatuated with John Boy and that hideous mole on his cheek or whatever that was.
Anyone know what happened to the cast of The Waltons?

Richard Thomas has been working a lot on stage. I've also seen Michael Learned Off Broadway as well. She did a few short soap stints, memorably as a patient confidante of Elizabeth's on "General Hospital".

Hopefully Richard spent his youth getting his cute little ass serviced.

R1 That phrase has been overused and makes no sense on this thread...'written bad checks'? Try being original at least.

Grandpa was played by Will Geer. He was a friend of "commie menace" musicians (Woody Guthrie, Burl Ives, Pete Seeger), lover of gay activist Harry Hay, blacklisted by HUAC. Much more interesting than his character on "The Waltons".

Ellen Corby who played the very conservative Grandma Walton was a high cussin' lesbian as well. She was very close friends with Will Geer so they were able to make the affection between them seem real.

^^^ And Grandma Walton knows what he’s been doing with that hog.

R5 Interesting! And thanks - I just realized I had him confused with Wilfred Brimley.

I saw Richard Thomas in The Little Foxes on Broadway in 2017. (It starred Laura Linney & Cynthia Nixon.)
IIRC he was nominated for a Tony.

Michael learned had a movie out last year! She has a long, varied career. I had no idea she was in Dragon, the Bruce Lee story. I have always meant to watch it because it stars the gorgeous Jason Scott Lee. I remember her in the short-lived series, "Nurse".

Miss Michael Learned was the best Kay Chancellor Thurston on Y&R.

Jim-Bob had a tiny role in Fletch. He was the young guy who stole a car that Fletch commandeered.
Erin starred in a campy TV movie with Melissa Sue Anderson about teenaged witches squaring off, circa 1981.
Mary-Ellen posed for Playboy and did infomercials for Scientology in the early '90s. She credited Scientology with getting the role on The Waltons.
Elizabeth moved to the same part of Virginia that Earl Hammer, Jr. came from.
No idea whatever happened to Jason and Ben.
Grandpa died during the run of the show. Grandma had a stroke but managed to hang in there until the end.
Daddy and Liv both starred in their own dramas right after The Waltons ended, but they were short-lived.

John Boy also voices commercials like Mercedes (before Jon Hamm), Minute Maid, Kia.

Michael Learned picked up her son at a drag show I was part of in Chicago in around 1990. We may have been having a food fight to "Do They Know It's Christmas?" One of the queens just whispered to me, "The mom from The Waltons is here!" Then, "But not to see the show."

R9 He was nominated for a Tony for it and he was the most interesting and emotionally dramatic Horace Giddens I've ever seen. He was a real match for Laura Linney's Regina.

[quote]Daddy and Liv both starred in their own dramas right after The Waltons ended, but they were short-lived.
Daddy also ran for Congress. Three times. And lost.
[quote]Waite ran unsuccessfully for Congress in California as a Democrat on three occasions: In 1990, he challenged veteran GOP incumbent Al McCandless in the Riverside County-based 37th district, losing by five percentage points. In 1998, Waite ran in the special election for the then-Palm Springs-based 44th district left vacant by the death of incumbent Sonny Bono. He was defeated in that election by Mary Bono, Sonny's widow, and lost to her again that November.
