The real issue is that the Democratic Party (United States) does not know how to cope with IT.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 4, 2020 11:19 PM |
Bernie may have something to say about Pete's "lead".
[quote] Shadow Inc. was launched by ACRONYM, a nonprofit corporation founded in 2017 by Tara McGowan, a political strategist who runs companies aimed at promoting Democratic candidates and priorities. McGowan, 34, is married to Michael Halle, a senior strategist for Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign, which records show has also paid Shadow Inc. $42,500 for software.

It's infuriating that the TV pundits won't give Pete his due. They are talking up Biden, reminding everyone that he has the support of blacks and Pete, well, he doesn't and won't be able to go the distance. They're acting like Pete's is just a fluke and that the winner of Iowa doesn't necessarily mean anything in the long run. Seriously. Do these pundits WANT Trump to win again?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 4, 2020 11:30 PM |
The blacks hate gay Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 4, 2020 11:32 PM |
Oh jeez. Someone on MSNBC just said that this win for Pete is just beginner's luck. They're really trying to bring him down.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 4, 2020 11:35 PM |
The whole thing is really shady.
They used some app that Pete donated to, Bernie was winning then the app broke. When it was fixed Pete had a bunch more points. They're supposedly hand counting the results now.
They obviously wanted to stop Bernie because he was going to win.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 4, 2020 11:36 PM |
r9 Let them. He has a huge blitz going on in NH right now and the second biggest ad buy behind Steyer. We'll see about that beginner's luck on Tuesday next week.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 4, 2020 11:37 PM |
Many pundits right now are dismissing these results as being NOT indicative of the Democratic Party as Iowa is mostly white.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 4, 2020 11:38 PM |
Does seem a bit shady, R10.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 4, 2020 11:39 PM |
[quote]They used some app that Pete donated to
Can you please stop with these conspiracy theories? He bought election software for text-banking from same company as Biden and Gillibrand before she dropped out. That's it. It's the cheapest stuff most politicians use. And besides, that app crapped out, so they're counting and verifying manually now. The app literally isn't relevant anymore as it plays no part in the process at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 4, 2020 11:39 PM |

Bernie was NOT winning before the app broke. Early indications showed Pete in the lead.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 4, 2020 11:40 PM |
The establishment Democrats are rigging it because they don't like Bernie. He hates them as well he should. He doesn't want anything to do with Democrats, he's just running as a Democrat.
The best candidate is Bernie because these other chumps are not. Biden lost either way. I'm tired of these corporately owned Democrats who are the same as Republicans except more prochoice and trans.
If they had let Bernie run against Trump, Bernie would have won.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 4, 2020 11:40 PM |
To those of you young enough to have been born in a much more gay-friendly era, there really is no way to emphasis the monumental significance of an openly gay man finishing first (thus far) in conservative Iowa, an achievement that was unimaginable to many of us. Sometimes an individual so extraordinary comes along who is too brilliant, capable, authentic, compelling to be denied, despite what society perceives as insurmountable 'flaws.' Catholic John Kennedy, black Barack Obama, gay Peter Buttigieg. If America ever desperately needed a leader destined for greatness it is now. Well done, Iowa.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 4, 2020 11:40 PM |
[quote]When it was fixed Pete had a bunch more points.
Yes, because Pete had precinct captains at every precinct, unlike Bernie. Which means his data was more detailed and was only off by 1%.
Also, the app was never fixed. The app was turned off after it crapped out and isn't used now. There was a coding error and a review will determine what went wrong.

The pundits narrative that Iowa doesn’t matter is missing the point. It’s true that the Democrats can’t win without the black vote. But we can’t win without the white vote either. Pete understands that. He’s taking his campaign to districts that voted for Obama and then voted for Trump. We need those voters back. Iowa alone is not important. But the hundreds of thousands of like-minded districts around the country is important and Pete understands that. That’s how we win.

by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 5, 2020 8:09 AM |
R65, as far as I'm concerned, social media is the second least-credible news source of all... with only junk sites like Taboola being worse.
No, I did the 20-question quiz from (I believe) the Washington Post, which compared my answers to the candidates' answers. Yang matched 17/20. Buttigeig got 15/20. Warren got 13/20. Everyone else was lower.
Yang appeals strongly to voters who historically leaned Republican, but weep over the total shitshow Donald Trump has turned the 21st Century Republican Party into. He's basically "Bill Clinton 2.0"... sane by middle-class standards, tolerant of diversity without turning it into a sideshow, and more interested in results than token symbolism.
He's also the only Democrat honest enough to be pro-nuclear power, esp. thorium. Other Democrats are too eager to panded to the "meanie greenie" nutcase environmentalists who want a carbon-free economy while ignoring the reality that nuclear power is the ONLY way to come REMOTELY close to achieving it within 25-40 years (at least, without radically diminishing everyone's standard of living).

Bernie is the one that wanted caucuses in 2016, because he did better in caucuses.
Caucus voters self select as younger, healthier voters, because as we all saw, it’s a fucking endurance contest to be in a caucus for hours on end. Anybody who knows they can’t do it doesn’t even show up in the first place.
In 2016, Bernie bitched about how every state should be a caucus, because it favored him. It was a miserable endurance contest for the actual voters, but fuck what favored the voters, he didn’t care.
Now he got his wish and it didn’t help him. So whine whine whine because he’s pissed. He ran against a young man who also has young, energetic voters and that erased Bernie’s frat boy voter advantage.
So now just wait until he gets out of the Northeast and voters aren’t falling ecstatically at his feet. That’s going to be somebody else’s fault too.
