I just started watching The Night Shift where Luke plays half of a gay couple - and I'm a fan. Not only is he pretty, but he's pretty good in this role. I'll probably watch something else of his after I'm done with this show, maybe Killjoys.

Hallmark did a film a couple of movies in Florida last year and the Florida film commission said they were going to try and lure Hallmark to film their non Christmas movies there.

Hilarie Burton did a few Hallmark movies. During one production she gave notes to the network to feature more gay characters, and interracial couples. Hallmark never hired her again. Burton has said she would do the same thing over again. I give her credit for doing that.

I doubt the usual Hallmark crowd (middle aged women) knows anything about him and that he's even openly gay. So far he was the bf on a popular show that aired over 10 years ago. Besides that he had a couple of guest roles, played a bounty hunter (or whatever that was) on a D-List Syfy show and starred in a bunch of Christmas movies. His career hasn't exactly been mind-blowing. He is more a phenomenon in the gay community. As long as he keeps a low profile, Hallmark cares more about the tax credit than supporting the gay community with this casting.

I read that all these productions in Canada have to hire the D-list Canadian actors to get tax breaks. Looks like the Canadian actor pool they can choose from is not very big so we see the same faces all the time.

From his IMDB page it looks like he hasn't worked in months and his last projects have only been Hallmark movies and that bad SyFy show that ended in 2018. Someone posted pics of his condo in L.A. (don't remember if he bought or sold it) and he lives/lived in a $700k 2br apartment in West Hollywood. I often wonder how he pays his mortgage and Hollywood Lifestyle including his personal trainer sessions with only one or two guest appearances a year and Hallmark movies.

I'd say no. I'm an actor and think the vast majority of actors take their work seriously. Even if they acknowledge an iffy or mundane script they do try to raise the quality with a heartfelt performance, and hopefully tell a nice story.

I'm a gay actor and I was in a Hallmark movie a couple years ago as the lead's father. I'm a middle-aged guy, nobody cares, I'm sure. Our script was pretty lame, but our lovely director did a big rewrite (a polish technically), and tried to give us something on the page to play. I think it turned out nicely and I can't wait to do another.

Hallmark movies shoot very quickly. I assume most were like the one I did and shot 115 pages in 15 shooting days. That is television fast, so an actor like MacFarlane doesn't tie up too much time cranking out a holiday feature. It's not a terrible job, and actors want to work!

R22, I saw him interviewed a couple of time on the Home & Family show and he really does come across as a nice guy. Very personable and likeable.

Surprised he hasn't settled down by now and gotten married with a few kids through surrogate.

He seems to have the qualities of a good husband and lover. Hallmark has helped him keep steady employment, which is something unfortunately, that cannot be said for many of his fellow actors. The closure of Broadway and the severe reduction in film and television productions has caused many unemployed performers.
