Really?
Per the NY Times, Kobe Bryant's death is on par with a Presidential assassination

I don't remember what I was doing when I heard the news, and it was only yesterday.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 28, 2020 2:52 AM |
The headline says to basketball fans it is on par.
Can you read OP?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 28, 2020 2:58 AM |
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Is this nonsense over yet?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 28, 2020 2:59 AM |
I think a lot of the outpouring is the result of Trump. More than half the country doesn't feel like they have a leader at the moment and they need someone or something to rally around. This is coming in the middle of the impeachment trial was like the perfect storm.

I would have rather have had a presidential assassination than lose Kobe. I’m sure most of America feels the same way.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 28, 2020 3:04 AM |
On Saturday, I was thinking, we haven't had a major, stunning death of a high-profile, relatively young individual in quite awhile. Then, 24 hours later....

R7 Bingo
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 28, 2020 3:18 AM |
OMG R7
You’re a regular John Edward!!!!
Silly narcissist.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 28, 2020 3:20 AM |
What you aren't acknowledging r3 is when that chopper went into the side of the hill, all Americans became basketball fans.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 28, 2020 3:24 AM |
Oh good god Mary at R10
Just shut the fuck up already.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 28, 2020 3:27 AM |
You done good R1. You know you're supposed to cunty, not funny, but we'll let it slide. In honor of Kobe and all.
You did good too R7. Real good! I think that's probably the best reply I've ever read on DL. I bet in the whole history of DL there has never been a better post.
How's the weather in Peaksville this time of year?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 28, 2020 3:41 AM |
There is just something so bizarre and randomly tragic about this ... I can't quite shake it.. and I don't even give a shit about basketball.

People die prematurely in tragic accidents every day.
But yes a famous person can remind people how fragile life is. You never know when it might be over.

I don’t care about it because I dgaf about sports and I don’t honor dead rapists.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 28, 2020 4:07 AM |
Uh, he was a violent rapist. I couldn’t give a fuck less.
I don’t believe in karma, but this? KARMA.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 28, 2020 4:30 AM |
R17 you do realize that 8 other innocent people (including teenage girls) died as well, don't you?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 28, 2020 4:50 AM |
R18, it's like one of the old newspaper headlines of the Titanic, John Jacob Astor and 1400 others Perish.

So they found their own rapist to worship, like the Trumpkins?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 28, 2020 2:05 PM |
I don't see any big celebrations going on over the death of Kobe Bryant.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 28, 2020 2:16 PM |
Has the national day of mourning been scheduled yet?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 28, 2020 2:17 PM |
So how many DL queens "mourn" the premature death of some drug addled ZZZZZZZ list pron star. I'm sure if Stu or Brandon from Sean Cody died accidentally the weeping and gnashing of teeth here would be heard around the world.
IIRC, some demented queen built a shrine in her apartment and wrote poems to some pron star who had offed himself.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 28, 2020 2:27 PM |
R2, that's creepy as fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 28, 2020 2:35 PM |
people love to over react when a celeb dies
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 28, 2020 2:37 PM |
r7 oh come on. just the other day that kpop singer Sulli killed herself and those kpop stars have more following than any basketball player ever could. You must not be keeping up with the news.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 28, 2020 2:50 PM |
Wait till all the girls he's forced himself on over the years start talking.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 28, 2020 3:33 PM |
AND R18? People die every day. Celebrating a rapist has ZERO to do with the other people that died. Take your strawman and shove it up your ass.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 28, 2020 3:55 PM |
I think the death of Cameron Boyce was more shocking. Still unsettled by it to this day.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 28, 2020 4:49 PM |
I now literally do or think the opposite of whatever the NY Times tells me.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 28, 2020 4:50 PM |
I second, third, fourth, and fifth R11. Shut the fuck up, R10, MARY.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 28, 2020 4:56 PM |
R3, to suggest this is on par with a world leader's death even for basketball fans is pretty ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 28, 2020 5:04 PM |
Sadly, sarcasm goes right over the heads of r11 and r31.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 28, 2020 5:04 PM |
Sarcasm, when spoken aloud, is fairly easily picked up on. Online or in print, less so. If that was sarcasm and it was coming from you, R33, fine, but to suggest it's obvious, especially around here, is untrue. So fuck you.

r2 That sand castle reminds me of Scary Lucy.
