Hot Topic In-Store Cleaning Supplies 1992 to 2006

It's been a few years since I started my Hot Topic In-Store Cleaning Supplies blog on 12/31/2015, and the DL has been very instrumental in helping me achieve my goals of recreating all of the wonderful cleaning supplies of this beloved, unique and fantastic shopping emporium.

I've recovered dozens bottles, boxes and packages of cleaning liquids and powders thanks to former Hot Topic employees who also stole and saved the original products, like I did, and most of them found out about my quest because of the DL. Every whiff brings back treasured memories. And they are cutting edge products, very effective to this day. Timeless cleaning supplies, indeed.

If you worked at Hot Topic from 1992 to 2006 and saved the cleaning products, would you please share them with me? Contact me at the email address in my blog.

The Gap Playlists guy is very polarizing apparently

Thanks guys! I just got a half bottle of the original lavender scented Flash multi-purpose and an unused can of Glade Elegance Mystique spray air freshener. Keep em coming! I couldn't do this without you!

I love this.

GapPlayListGuy is an Aspie Lunatic who first thought himself interesting by mistake, but has now shifted to finding himself funny by mistake.

I'm not sure I understand this. Is this real or fake?

Now that we are free of the soul crushing epidemic and grim daily grind of masking, I'm sure you're all thrilled we can gather together again in blissful liberty and community at the local mall. Why not stop by Hot Topic to update your gear for summer! You'll enjoy all your treasured Hot Topic fragrances and perfumes in-store cleaning supplies mask-free!

A reminder I'm looking anyone who worked at Hot Topic in the Golden Age of 1992-2006 and has saved the classic in-store cleaning supplies inventory lists or the actual products. I'm particularly looking for Spring-Summer lists from 1997 and the also the dark autumn of 2001.

See you at the mall!

I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant.

Some deceptive claims were made about my blog, so Blogger is deleting it one post at a time tonight.

I'm finished.

Way to go, DL.

Highly doubtful anyone on DL sabotaged your grand retirement project, dude. It's probably some backstabbing evil shop-bottom from your tenure at the GAP.

by Anonymousreply 12May 15, 2021 1:06 AM

I love this, OP.

You've nailed this.

My favorite was “Manic Panic Bathroom Cleaner.” My parents almost killed me when I couldn’t get the blue and red hair dye out of the countertop and the bathroom tiles. There were deep-set bright colored stains all over the place. My folks thought they were going to have to rip out the bathroom, but Manic Panic Bathroom Cleaner saved the day (and my life!).

In honor of Muriel's housecleaning and red-tagging, Hot Topic has issued a commemorative edition of 2 classic In-Store Cleaning products in 2 traditional colors.

Hot Topic Red Atomic Fireball: red acidic cleaning products are used in areas with a higher risk of cross-contamination and spread of infection — most commonly for cleaning restroom areas including toilets and urinals. Hot Topic Red Atomic Fireball is the mousing spray that webmasters rely upon to blast trolls forever off the site, and to make a hot mess show about doing so.

Hot Topic Funky Punk Yellow: yellow alkaline cleaning products are for surfaces in rooms and lower risk areas of restrooms including sinks. Webmasters break out the Funky Punk Yellow to economically dissolve the trolls and their stubborn perma-scum from all DL surfaces.

Besides the Abercrombie playlists, which are far more curated than anything Gap put together, the only thing I care about is spending my money.

by Anonymousreply 21May 30, 2024 9:16 PM

Hot Topic Guy -- do you have a playlist of all the great songs you listened to while cleaning those Hot Topic stores. If so, please share them with us!

I'm welcoming the 2024 holiday season "With Arms Wide Open" (Creed) and great joy. I've finally acquired the quite rate 2000 1st Edition of Febreze's Holiday Collection. The three bottles are in museum condition!

Congratulations on your success, OP. We seem to have some mutual interests.

Tell me, do you find the cleaning supplies retain their full strength after all these years?

Sadly, my collection of mid-twentieth century high school gym janitorial supplies includes a lot of ineffective chemicals. Something about isotopes and half-lives, I’m told. Too geeky for me.

by Anonymousreply 24December 12, 2024 5:23 PM

Huh? I never shopped at or worked at Hot Topic and have no idea what you’re all on about.

by Anonymousreply 25December 12, 2024 5:38 PM

Yes, Mid-Century high school gym janitorial supplies were by-products of the Manhattan Project's nuclear research and the Russia-USA Space Race of the 60s.

by Anonymousreply 26December 12, 2024 6:55 PM

Oh god I laughed so hard my cheeks are hurting. I forgot about this one. Thanks, OP!
