Marijuana And RSO - No Thanks!
I’ve lived with chronic pain for years. For the last two years I finally tried marijuana and RSO, and found myself feeling crazy. I recently stopped and I’m feeling balanced again.
I cannot understand the benefit of marijuana. Are these people promoting marijuana insane, it’s definitely not beneficial to your mental health or weight. What am I missing...

Did you take it on your own, OP?

Were you on your own, with no other people, when you took it?
Had you ever taken it before?

Are you going to link to Refer Madness next?

OP, you think that because it didn't work for you it can't possibly have benefits for anyone else?

The trouble is, it affects different people very differently.
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain.

I once knew a girl who smoked a marijuana cigarette. Then she died.

R3 my husband was always with me. I just found the effects to be not worth the energy.
R5 I’m not saying it does not work for everyone I am just wondering what I was missing? People brag about it... I know marijuana benefits many. Why not me?

It's chemistry.
A lot of people who take it for fun, don't find it to be fun at all, for example.

I think any mind-altering/mood-altering substance is going to have differing effects on the individual. I used to love pot but I only liked to stay at home, eat junk food and watch crazy movies/tv shows. I did not like to go out or be around other people.
It just wasn't your thing OP. Good luck finding something that is helpful to you. I'm sorry you are suffering in this way.

Try a high CBD, low THC strain. I was on oxycodone and other meds for chronic pain due to a failed spinal fusion surgery. I wanted to get off the narcotics so I switched to medical marijuana and it's really helped with my pain. I still get prescibed oxy but only take it rarely, when the pain is so bad I can't concentrate on anything else. My go-to strain is 22% CBD and less than 1% THC; it's been such a help, seriously. It's THC that gives people the 'high' feeling, the munchies, couch-lock, etc. CBD is medicinal and doesn't get you 'high', though it does make me feel more relaxed and less anxious, which is a bonus.

There is no benefit, there never was. People like to get high. That is like prescribing alcohol. There's nothing in booze that's special.
There was a reason marijuana was legal and then made illegal. We'll find this out again.
Already driving high on marijuana is spiking everywhere it's been legalized.

Benefits: relaxation, euphoria, sleep inducing, heightened skin sensitivity: can enhance sex in moderate doses, enables cancer patients and other terminally ill people to eat by stimulating appetite as well as alleviating nausea, reduces BP, enhances meditation, helps some people to open up and talk more.... Too bad it didn't help you, but that doesn't equate to "has no benefit". It's entirely subjective.

You're just a pothead. There is no credible research for marijuana if there was the drug companies would've legalized it years ago with trials to back it up.
It's only legal because a bunch of potheads now are grown up to vote it in. You saw the same thing with prescribing opioids. Now it's a mess. Well you all wanted to get high, so the small legitimate use of opioid drugs is being limited by the few who needed it. The rest are just junkies who got hooked on it.
Pretend all you want you pothead, but you couldn't give it up because you're hooked. But you won't admit it. You're kind never does, because all you care about is the next high.

Try CBD oil, OP. Smoking is not for everyone, and CBD oil is different of the RSO oil. It's basically all the benefits of medical marijuana without getting high and it's not addictive. Do a little research and check if is a good option for you.

What are you missing OP? You're missing the fact that not everyone's body reacts the same way. What doesn't work for you may work wonders for someone else. No big deal. If it does you no good, you stop and move on to something that does. But don't assume the whole world is just like you.

Where did you get the Marijuana ? There are different kinds of marijuana for different situations. You may have been given the wrong kind. This is one of the problems with drug companies making cannabis based drugs. They want one size fits all. The problem with marijuana is that prescribing it is an intuitive skill. As mentioned various people react differently, and different kind are used for different situations. It is not the sort of thing where one can whip out a prescription pad and write a prescription based on your height and weight. You really need to go to a good herbalist who can give you the correct kind and the correct dosage.

2.5 mg, a very small dose, in an edible, quiets my chattery mind, lightly enhances senses. Music through good headphones is an even better pleasure. Enjoying that for 3-4 hours, once per week, feels like a valuable vacation. And it's 100% legal where I live.
No question, though; there are more than a few wake-and-bake addicts out there who dont come across real well.

All anti-pot propaganda is just that: propaganda. Tobacco, alcohol, sugar, and even soybeans have done far more damage over a far longer period of time. Why are those still legal?

You can't patent a plant that grows in the wild, so companies would have to create strains (like tobacco) to claim as their own. And, the government had been testing the effects on people, but the study was called off by Rethugs.

When did drug companies obtain the power to enact laws? That's right, they didn't. Drug companies have no say so over what is legalized.

Hey OP. It is very common to not get anything off your first round with weed. I would say to try a few more times in moderation. I see you got a lot of other advice, and I haven't smoked in ages so I will defer to them.. I just remember when I originally tried it in HS, the first time didn't do anything for me. My friends told me that was common and they were right.
Good luck with the pain.

Thank you, R4. I was going to mention Reefer Madness to make a different point. That film reflected the crazy crap associated with marijuana in the 60s and early 70s. These days it has become the opposite. Mj supporters think it can do anything and with never a side effect. It's nonsensical.
I was never a comfortable mj smoker or eater in the 60s and 70s. I did it, but didn't really like it. More recently I wondered about the side effects with medical marijuana for pain etc. I thought it might help for the user to be in an environment where the person wasn't risking a raid and felony charges, but side effects still exist, especially because the mj is so much more potent than it was 5 decades ago.
It does have good benefits for appetite, say with cancer treatment where the person has been too sick to eat. I don't believe the positive mental effects though. And memory aid?? Are you kidding??
I use CBD oil with my dog for anxiety and it is effective. It is THC free, though, so that mind-bending aspect is not present. You have to be careful with the maker/seller, though. Mine is made especially for pets, but you want a product with a guarantee of minimal THC that is lab tested. It is reportedly effective for pain, but YMMV. May be worth a try.

I enjoy smoking. I don’t usually get the munchies, but when I do I often crave vegetables. That means no weight gain. Find it a better option than alcohol.
The whole argument for the health benefits is really not my cup of tea. Treat it like you’d treat any other fun thing and it is fine.
You were smoking for your pain? I hear more people feel the benefits with drops of CBD. But hope you find some kind of relief to your pain.

Whatever you eat while stoned you will crave more of. If you eat carbs, then you will crave more carbs. If you eat protein and fat, then you will crave more protein and fat. Think of it as a tool for complementing a healthy lifestyle, not as a crutch to justify an unhealthy one.
