Awkwafina was her rap name. That is how she started out. So she has kept it. It's no different than "Queen Latifah" sticking with hers instead of "Dana Owens."

Her rap videos were comedy rap videos and they caught on at the start of her career.

She's turned out to be a fantastic actress, and I'm glad she's moving away from the schtick that initially got her fame. That would have gotten old fast.

No I don't love her. I used to like her until I realized she's a culture vulture. Mocking black culture and using it to make a name for herself. Not only is it insulting to black people but she's hurting her own doing it and NOT giving her own a voice. For someone who talks about stereotypes she sure loves using black ones. Right down to her "ghetto" spelled name persona. A lot of my Chinese friends and their families don't like her.
