Okay, I gave in and tried it - tasted like the regular Whooper.
Anyone else try it?

It seems fresher tasting if you know what I mean.
The only thing is it didn't really satisfy me. I was still hungry and had to get some chicken nuggets. I don't think that would have happened if I had a real beef Whopper

How long will it be before they discover that one of the chemicals used in manufacturing this thing is carcinogenic?

[quote] tasted like the regular Whooper.
Well that's Impossible.

I would never eat a whopper but it must be pretty bad if this crud imitates the taste.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 11, 2020 10:57 AM |
What about the texture? I'm sure I would be able to tell the difference. Something would be off.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 11, 2020 11:07 AM |
R5, it’s actually the same. You won’t know the difference. I can always tell the difference with healthier fake shit and I can’t tell the difference. Same texture, same taste.

It tastes great. I would prefer a regular veggie burger but for those who want the taste of meat, it's pretty amazing.

I've had a few "impossible" burgers from various places. They taste fine. Not great, but not bad. They do taste like meat.
I'll stick with regular as the impossible burger isn't any better than true meat, isn't any healthier, and, for now, is more expensive.

I Don’t eat Whoppers buy the Impossible Meat at Wegman’s. When my family was visiting for Christmas I grilled sliders for a taste test. All of them thought it tasted just like a regular hamburger.
It’s the one plant based meat that’s basically indistinguishable-taste wise- from beef. Next week the company comes out with a plant based pork.

Sounds promising, but I’m not certain about soy compounds. Don’t they contain phytoestrogen? I wonder about and endocrine responses in men who eat a lot of soy products. I hope I’m wrong.

If you get a fresh one, they taste great.
If you get one that's been sitting around in the back, and it's not exactly hot and fresh, it's kinda nasty.

I like the impossible whopper but it’s expensive!

Well, it's better for the environment and it's cruelty free... strange that THAT doesn't seem to matter to you.

R12, $7 or $8 by me in NY

Impossible burgers and Beyond burgers are highly processed junk food. Novelty food.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 11, 2020 4:28 PM |
Since fast phood 'burgers' are never 100% beef anyway, why don't they just make one that's 2/3 veg and 1/3 meat? That would still taste good and help the enviroment (methane, rain forests, etc.).
People just think 'all or nothing'.

R13, it's not better for the environment. Ruminants grazing is what brings back the dead earth from monocrop farming. Plus the processing that goes into this garbage is unhealthy as well. And uses a lot of resources that pollute the environment.

Yes, and possibly loaded with Roundup, or glyphosate which is absolutely carcinogenic. I am not vouching for this study--for all I know it was funded by the beef industry or by a veggie burger rival--but this is something to consider. The Impossible Burger products are made with non-organic soy, a Monsanto product. Beware.

BK flame grills their burgers and that is most of the “taste” you get. I’m not surprised it was at all difficult to remake that smoky flavor.

There’s no soy

^. Sorry, there’s a little soy but the major protein is potato

R21, versus beef which will lead to chronic disease and heart attacks.
What should I choose?

Impossible Burger ingredients list: Water, Textured Wheat Protein, Coconut Oil, Potato Protein, Natural Flavors, 2% or less of: Leghemoglobin (soy), Yeast Extract, Salt, Soy Protein Isolate, Konjac Gum, Xanthan Gum, Thiamin (Vitamin B1), Zinc, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Vitamin B12

The patties for Burger King's Impossible Whopper are 100% plant-based, but might not be 100% friendly for vegans or vegetarians. According to a footnote on the product page for the burger on BK's website, the Impossible Whoppers are “flame-grilled in the same broiler used for beef and chicken.”
