How are they affording this cast? That's a lot of people to pay. Besides the leads, Katey Sagal & Jay R. Ferguson aren't getting scale.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 10, 2020 10:27 AM |
Love Noel Fisher! He's going places, isn't he?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 10, 2020 11:13 AM |
Stuckey, what have you done?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 10, 2020 3:09 PM |
I liked him in 'The Riches'.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 10, 2020 3:11 PM |
Not sure why everyone goes nuts over this guy. He's meh to me. I liked him when he played the crazy CSU tech dude on SVU.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 10, 2020 3:19 PM |
I hated, hated, hated him on SVU, and then Shameless came along and he (and Emmy Rossum) were robbed of Emmy nominations for the third season.
Did he ever marry the beard?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 10, 2020 3:51 PM |
Never heard of him, but now I know he's ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 10, 2020 4:51 PM |
The wife is taller and older and looks like a tranny next to him. Odd couple.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 10, 2020 5:01 PM |
I think he’s a perfect example of Ugly-Hot.
He looks like he throws a mean fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 10, 2020 5:02 PM |
[quote]Love Noel Fisher! He's going places, isn't he?
Well at least to Lanford.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 10, 2020 6:07 PM |
Who does he play?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 10, 2020 6:08 PM |
[quote]The character of "Little Ed" is the late-in-life child had by Dan's father, Ed Sr. (Ned Beatty) and his second wife Crystal (Natalie West). Ed Sr. and Crystal also had another daughter, Angela. Fisher will play the grown-up version of Ed, who harbors some resentment for his half-brother, who he believes shunned some responsibility in caring for their aging father.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 10, 2020 6:10 PM |
He is on Castle Rock and The Red Line too. I find him kind of hot sometimes. I reckon he'd have a nice butthole.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 10, 2020 6:12 PM |
Oh shit, is Ned Beatty coming back as Ed? I haven’t watched the past season but I’d tune in for that.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 10, 2020 6:13 PM |
Crystal. where art thou?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 19, 2020 1:20 AM |
I would love to take a look at his ginger butthole. You know there are some little flaming red hairs around it.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 19, 2020 1:25 AM |
This storyline is ridiculous. Crystal was a good friend of Roseanne's and featured prominently in the first season of the reboot, yet Dan hasn't seen his step siblings since they were infants?
And no way would Ed not give those letter to them. Goes against the character that Ned Beatty played so well.
And Darlene is thinking about having another kid? She's broke, has no job, she lives in her parents house, but she's contemplating having another child with someone whom she cheated on with?
What a mess. It's like can we make these characters surroundings any more shittier than they already are?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 19, 2020 1:35 AM |
Big Ed gave those little brats their first VCR and VHS movies!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 19, 2020 1:46 AM |
He’s Crystal’s son? Didn’t she make an appearance in the reboot already?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 19, 2020 2:19 AM |
Yeah this plot made no sense especially since we have seen Crystal both pre and post Rosanne death. Crystal wouldn’t have allowed Big Ed to cut Dan off from his brother and sister by pretending he wanted nothing to do with them. How would she explain going over to see Roseanne and Dan even though their big brother hates their existence.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 19, 2020 2:20 AM |
Big Ed tried to make amends several times. It turns out his mother was mentally ill and Big Ed took the brunt of Dan's anger regarding their breakup.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 19, 2020 2:31 AM |
Dan has his own son he never mentions as does Jackie but Big Ed is written off as a bitter hoarder which makes no sense at all.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 19, 2020 2:38 AM |
Link to third season confirmation?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 19, 2020 2:53 AM |
They kind of neglected to mention that Crystal was Ed's wife and the mother of these two kids - have they quietly forgotten that fact? Was she still with him? Were they divorced? Methinks they're fucking with some of the continuity, here. Even though Crystal was in the rebooted season of Roseanne, she hasn't been in these two seasons of The Conners - she hasn't even been mentioned.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 19, 2020 2:58 AM |
They didn't trash Big Ed as much as Grandpa Harris at least.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 19, 2020 3:23 AM |
WHET Lonnie?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 19, 2020 3:37 AM |
Crystal would have made sure Dan and his siblings got together.
She was that kind of character.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 19, 2020 3:52 AM |
I fucking hate that they're messing with the continuity. The showrunner said a few weeks back that Jackie's son doesn't exist in "this timeline." I mean, what does it take, a mention that he moved to New York or something? Come the fuck on. Roseanne has been in constant repeats since it went off the air - it's not like fucking with the timeline on Murphy Brown or Fuller House. People know these characters inside and out.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 19, 2020 3:55 AM |
Crystal was underrated <3
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 19, 2020 3:55 AM |
Katy Sagal is worth tens of millions of dollars from the cash-cow shit-storm Married with Children.
She likes the Conner's character, she likes the cast. Money not the object.
Same with Ed and Modern Family.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 19, 2020 4:03 AM |
You would think Sara Gilbert could have vetoed these weird turns the show has taken.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 19, 2020 4:05 AM |
What about us?!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 19, 2020 4:18 AM |
Roseanne would have fired the writers for this kind of infraction.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 19, 2020 4:20 AM |
I don't understand why he would agree to be on this show.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 19, 2020 5:05 AM |
Luke Edwards, who was the first Lonnie Anderson, is still a working actor. The pic below is from about three years ago. Kristopher Kent Hill, who took over the role, died last year.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 19, 2020 7:12 AM |
Mmmmm. Hello, Lonnie.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 19, 2020 8:13 AM |
R35 Roseanne would have fired the writers for breathing within 10 feet of her.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 19, 2020 8:39 AM |
R4 I miss that show, Minnie Driver was fucking awesome in it.

Ahhh I don't know about that. "MWC" was one of the first shows on the new FOX Network. Destitute, of course not but those early shows might not have gotten such sweetheart deals as the majors. And she is always working, that donut shop flop, her new pilot and she does autograph shows. I don't think anyone with "tens of millions" does shows.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 19, 2020 10:10 AM |
So Dan wrote letter after letter knowing his father was sending them back and never reached out to Crystal ? Lazy writing. The age difference alone was enough to create a distance between the characters no need to destroy the Ed character in the process.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 19, 2020 11:54 AM |
Wow, I had no idea the actor who took over the role of Lonnie died. What was the cause? I also never put together that his character name was Lonnie Anderson! I remember the original kid was in that movie I Know My First Name Is Steven with DL fave Corin "Corky" Nemec.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 19, 2020 12:43 PM |
Jackie's pregnancy were at the top of eps of Roseanne. The explanation as to how Jackie got her own name while giving birth - Marjorie? Who's Marjorie? - great stuff. So Andy doesn't exist? So stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 19, 2020 1:24 PM |
r42, so half million dollar episodes for multiple 22 episode seasons is, what, borscht?
Nope, Katy and Ed are real Hollywood actors who do not flaunt their wealth.
The kind you'd never suspect...
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 19, 2020 6:41 PM |
Crystal needs to come back to defend Big Ed in all of this. Dan was always rejecting his friendly overtures. There are two sides to every story. Dan always had a big chip on his shoulder about his father who for all of his faults endeavored to reach out to him ON SCREEN!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 19, 2020 6:52 PM |
I like Noel. I think he fits in with the current cast.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 19, 2020 6:56 PM |
OK I 'm not one to think actors are all powerful, can direct themselves and do whatever they want but I would be curious if the Conner actors questioned the new plots or just don't remember what took place in the past. Most actors don't watch their work like we do so they may have taped a show and not thought of it again for the last thirty years.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 19, 2020 6:59 PM |
Becky and Darlene's bemused reaction to their grandfather's death was pretty chilling.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 19, 2020 7:37 PM |
I only remember one Lonnie. When did Lonnie 2 first make an appearance?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 19, 2020 8:30 PM |
Luke Edward's played Lonnie in two episodes in season 2. Kristopher Kent Hill took over the role in season 3.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 20, 2020 1:22 AM |
They need to bring on Andy, Jackie's son.
They've made excuses about not doing it but it's dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 20, 2020 1:33 AM |
The timeline is all kinds of screwed up. From Beverly never giving up ownership of the diner, to this.
I always thought the original show made a big mistake by not having Ned Beatty and Goodman's characters develop a closer relationship after it was revealed that he took the blame for Audrey's illness (which was another odd switch, because Ann Wedgeworth played her as a stable travel agent). But according to Estelle Parsons, Ned Beatty didn't come back anymore because the show paid its guest stars next to nothing and he felt it just wasn't worth going out to LA to make peanuts. John Randolph who played her husband also didn't come back for the same reason.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 20, 2020 1:35 AM |
There have always been continuity issues. How the fuck did Ann Wedgeworth morph into Debbie Reynolds??!?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 20, 2020 1:40 AM |
I have no idea.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 20, 2020 1:48 AM |
Yeah, I remember when Kevin Healy sounded like he was going to be Mark 2.0, and then we get David Healy the next week.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 20, 2020 2:29 AM |
There were actually three actors who played Lonnie Anderson: Josh C. Williams, Luke Edwards, and Kristopher Kent Hill.
Also, Ed O’Neill was being paid half a million an episode during the last season of MWC, not during the entire run. I don’t believe Katey Sagal was being paid as much as Ed. She has an estimated net worth of $30 million for whatever that’s worth.
Sam Kinison and Roseanne Barr were offered the parts of Al and Peggy Bundy, but obviously both turned them down.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 20, 2020 5:17 AM |
R37 Why not?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 20, 2020 5:35 AM |
It's not like he's a big star or in a position to turn down a possible regular gig on a network show.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 20, 2020 5:36 AM |
r58, tens of millions of dollars.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 20, 2020 8:06 AM |
Your point, R61?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 20, 2020 5:44 PM |
That r31 was accurate r62.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 20, 2020 6:32 PM |
Dan for all of his good qualities can be a real prick.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 20, 2020 6:36 PM |
Yes, it verifies R31.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 20, 2020 10:41 PM |
Dan gave up on his father like his father seemingly gave up on him.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 20, 2020 11:04 PM |
Kristopher Kent Hill passed away last year in case anyone wasn't aware.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 20, 2020 11:23 PM |
My bad, I should have read the thread first. Someone already mentioned his death.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 20, 2020 11:27 PM |
Roseanne Conner like Big Ed.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 21, 2020 4:56 AM |
I thought one of the reasons Ned Beaty didn’t come back was he didn’t like the way Roseanne treated the writers/staff.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 21, 2020 5:08 AM |
It was probably because guest stars were paid so poorly. That's why John Randolph didn't come back. I think Estelle Parsons mentions it in an interview too.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 21, 2020 1:11 PM |
Matt Williams still gets "created by" credit which must infuriate Roseanne and everything.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 21, 2020 3:51 PM |
Are they turning it into a East Enders type show? With people making the exact wrong decisions, then tormenting the audience for months with their resulting story arcs? Lanfordians?
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 21, 2020 4:09 PM |
The diner cook panic attack story line was just dumb. Darlene maybe having a baby is not something I want to see either. I am crushing on her boyfriend though. He has a gorgeous smile.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 21, 2020 5:35 PM |
They really need to work out the ownership issues and bring Married with Children back, even if it’s only for a limited run. I enjoyed that show a hell of a lot more than Roseanne.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 21, 2020 5:46 PM |
Boyfriend worked with him on a show two or so years ago, I got to meet Noel and the wife at the Halloween party. They were both nice, him especially. They seemed like any other late 30s/early 40s married couple.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 21, 2020 6:17 PM |
Adding a baby to a sitcom is the ultimate shark jump. In the first season of the reboot, Becky was going to be a surrogate for another couple, but a doctor told her she was too old. Then, whoops, she gets knocked up. And now a year later, Darlene is thinking about getting pregnant, too? Come up with some new ideas; give DJ a storyline.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 21, 2020 6:27 PM |
At this point Jackie can have another one and then Bev AKA Seahag can have a late in life surprise pregnancy.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 21, 2020 6:45 PM |
I can't decide if adult DJ is cute or not.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 21, 2020 7:25 PM |
Good lord, that guy has a head of hair on him.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 21, 2020 8:52 PM |
He reminds me of Larry from Three's Company in R80
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 21, 2020 9:06 PM |
He does have a lot of hair. I think he'd look better with it more closely cropped, maybe half an inch long. Also, I wonder if he's covering up gray hair. At this age, I think a bit of gray hair would look good on him.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 21, 2020 11:04 PM |
Michael Fishman was cute 7 year old. Then it was all over. And decided on an Eddie Munster 'do.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 22, 2020 12:42 AM |
Adult DJ is definitely not cute and unfortunately, still only has the acting ability of young DJ.
If there’s going to be a DJ storyline, they ought to bring back Heather Matarazzo.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 22, 2020 5:23 AM |
Young DJ was great and a much better actor than adult DJ.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 22, 2020 6:17 AM |
Check out season 9, episode 20, Roseanne-feld, for some examples of Michael Fishman’s crappy acting.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 22, 2020 6:38 AM |
Noel was great. He's a great fit with the cast.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 26, 2020 1:45 AM |
Looks like they're acknowledging that Crystal is little Ed's mother by the addition of that flashback clip. It would have been nice to include her in last week's episode, though, or at least to explain if she and Ed had been separated or still together.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 26, 2020 2:57 AM |
I think Crystal made one or two quick appearances in the Roseanne reboot. I don't think she was on screen long enough to mention her husband and kids. This is another way the writers and producers are disrespecting fans of the show by altering past story lines. Where's Andy again?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 28, 2020 3:14 PM |
[quote]the writers and producers are disrespecting fans of the show by altering past story lines.
You mean the original story line of the lottery win that wasn't?
Stop with the bullshit, Roseanne/The Connors past story lines are altered as fits the current cast.
I wish ABC would do one of those live shows with the original script for a Roseanne episode and with a black cast and MoNique as Roseanne. What episode, probably from season 1, would it be?
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 28, 2020 8:39 PM |
The reboot had a whole episode around Crysral retiring from the casino and Darlene getting her job.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 28, 2020 8:42 PM |
Darlene needs to try to get that job back.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | February 28, 2020 10:32 PM |
Next week's episode has them all poor, unemployed and depressed...so they all decide to get tattoos!
It really is a slice of deplorable American life!
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 18, 2020 2:43 AM |
I always thought he was a really nice guy but I never found him attractive in any way, shape, or form. With the face and body he has it seems like he was born to play The Penguin. Even his ass his an eyesore (which is why I hated that they decided to make him the bottom in the Ian-Mickey pairing on Shameless). Really sweet and funny dude, but he's lucky to even be working when he's built like Oswald Cobblepot and has the mug to match. Shameless was the best thing that could've ever happened to him.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | March 18, 2020 3:09 AM |
I had no clue the throuple lady was Jennifer Grey.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | March 18, 2020 4:06 AM |
The slow romantic storyline with John Goodman and Katey Sagal is sweet and believable. Laurie Metcalfe's talents are being wasted. I guess the writers don't want to write anything for the DJ character. Becky has had a personality transplant since the show's first run. And the Darlene character? Now she's going to a fertility doctor to try to have another baby? In her mid 40s? When she's always whining that she has to live with her dad because she doesn't make enough money to take care of the two kids that she already has? Just two seasons ago, Becky was whining that her eggs were too old for pregnancy, and then she got knocked up. Is the show going to jump that exact same shark twice in two years?
by Anonymous | reply 97 | April 15, 2020 2:43 AM |
Bev gets no respect when she is frequently the voice of reason and logic on this insane show. David the deadbeat dad gets more slack cut .
by Anonymous | reply 98 | April 16, 2020 12:17 AM |
The problem with this show is that in the original, they had problems but they always managed to work their way through them. They were lower middle class/poor but they had goals.
A lot of that is missing in the reboot.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | April 16, 2020 12:28 AM |
Sara Gilbert is shockingly thin this season. Even the other characters comment on how small she is.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | April 16, 2020 1:42 AM |
I like the reboot and think it's a lot better than I was expecting; however, if they really decide to let Darlene get pregnant and have another child, that is the surest sign of all that your writers are completely devoid of any ideas whatsoever.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | April 16, 2020 2:39 AM |

The fact that Dan is alive should be enough to show you that this isn't the same continuity as the original Roseanne.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | April 16, 2020 2:41 PM |
r105, the Lotto win was a dream...
by Anonymous | reply 106 | April 17, 2020 1:45 AM |
It wasn't a dream. It was a story Roseanne was writing.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | April 17, 2020 1:56 AM |
r107, And it turns out that the story Roseanne was writing was also a writer's fever dream.
If the real Roseann ever came to her right mind and turned into a normal person, there is nothing to prevent the money grinders at Disney from bringing Roseanne back with a second husband and continuing another story line.
Barr defenestrated continuity and cannon.
I wish ABC would cancel The Connors and do Landford, recasting Darlene as young Roseanne and Ben as young Dan and set it back in the 80s.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | April 17, 2020 3:04 AM |
I stopped watching it, but I see that they are continuing their streak of having the most unattractive cast in television.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | April 17, 2020 3:18 AM |
Right, R109, because a town like Lanford would be filled with supermodels.
