by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 9, 2020 12:32 PM |
Fotis is a sexy daddy, all right. He will clean up nicely for court.
That elegant presentation combined with the lack of a dead body is bound to work in his favor. If there is no body, then there is no cause of death. The D.A. may be able to show the motive for the killing, but how to prove the means and the opportunity If you don't know what happened to the alleged victim?
It will be difficult for Data Lounge to decided beyond a reasonable doubt without shirtless pics of Fotis. And we don't have that, either.

There is photographic evidence of the defendants dumping “something” right after the wife goes missing. Circumstantial evidence is enough to convict once it piles up. Hope it is enough. Guy looks like the Dirty John character from Netflix show.

Interesting, R16. If they have a photo of them dumping something, then they must know the precise location where it was dumped. So why have they been unable to find what was dumped?

As many as 30 investigators from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are investigating the case. Jennifer Dulos was last seen around 8 a.m. May 24 after dropping her five children off at New Canaan Country School. After missing several doctors appointments in New York, she was reported missing around 7 p.m. that night. Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, 51, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 44, are free on bail on charges of tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution. Investigators have been using state police search-and-rescue K-9 units to sift through mounds of trash for the past two weeks at the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority in Hartford. They have been examining trash that was hauled there from the Albany Avenue area in Hartford where Fotis Dulos was seen tossing garbage bags into more than 30 trash bins in a four-mile span the night his estranged wife went missing, according to arrest warrants.

I suppose it took longer for law enforcement to put together a strong case against Dulos, due to the absence of a body.
There are many prominent murder convictions despite no body found.

It's unusual for the lawyer to be charged also, no?
Lawyers of DL, can you tell us more about this?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 9, 2020 4:08 PM |
DANG--read this about the lawyer--
The lawyer had reported spoken on the phone with Fotis Dulos that evening. And weeks later, Connecticut state police learned of Mawhinney’s apparent connection to a sinister discovery in the woods.
Two men who had been hunting on the private acreage of the Windsor Rod and Gun Club came forward to report that, on May 18, they had found a hole that was 6 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet deep, containing two bags of lime and a blue tarp. It had been hidden, covered with barbecue grates and piles of branches.
It was still there on May 22, they reported, but when they went back in early June, it had been filled in. Police who investigated the report found nothing but dirt, and their dogs gave no indication of suspicious odors.
Mawhinney was a founder of the Windsor club and in March or April had asked about the whereabouts of a key to access the acreage. His phone records show he was in the area on March 29 and on May 31.
Windsor is about a 20-minute drive from Fotis Dulos’ home near Farmington.
Last year, Mawhinney was arrested twice by South Windsor police. One arrest was for domestic violence. The second was for violating a protective order: Fotis Dulos had contacted the man’s wife, and she believed it was at Mawhinney’s request.

Shallow 'human grave' found before Connecticut mom Jennifer Dulos' disappearance
The 6-foot-long hole was found at an exclusive club established by a close friend of Jennifer Dulos' estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, who is charged in her murder.
A long hole, described as a "human grave," was discovered on the grounds of an exclusive club before the disappearance of Connecticut mother Jennifer Dulos, according to authorities.
The club where the hole was found was established by a close friend of Jennifer Dulos' estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, who was charged Tuesday in her murder.
According to Mawhinney's arrest warrant, two members of the Windsor Rod and Gun Club, Jay Lawlor and Lee McKay, were hunting there May 18, 2019, when they happened upon a 2-foot-wide, 6-foot-long hole covered with barbecue grill grates.
Lawlor found a blue tarp and two unopened bags of lime inside the pit, the warrant said. McKay asked him, "What's the lime for?" Lawlor said, "For trying to rid of a body."
Lawlor later told police that the hole was, "one hundred percent a human grave." But the men didn't know of anyone who was missing, so they moved on.

R29, no problem, buddy. It's worth posting twice.
The question I have--maybe we can speculate--is why Fotis didn't end up using that as the grave?
Too bad they didn't report that to the police when they found it. Maybe they could have set up surveillance cameras to see who came back for the stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 9, 2020 9:02 PM |
I don't know. FD posted $6 million for bail. (Where did he get the 600k? He's a broke bastard.)
Anyway, if he runs, he's going to wish he were in jail. Those bail bondsmen who post millions aren't nice.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 9, 2020 9:04 PM |
I think the grave was for the attorney’s wife who refused to meet with Fotis shortly before jennifer dulos disappeared. Maybe she was the first intended victim.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 9, 2020 9:07 PM |

Anything else good from reddit?
R34, man, pretty small town for two murderers! He looks like a little shit in his mugshot. (You can see him in the article.)
The best part is the lawyer can't afford his $2 million in bail (so the 10% he has to put up). Maybe being stuck behind bars, he'll break.

Here you go, guys--
"In a review of Mawhinney's phone records, investigators said that on March 29, his cell phone "polled" the tower in East Granby that services the gun club, according to the warrant. Fotis Dulos was seen on surveillance at the gun property for seven minutes on May 23, the warrant states. And at 11:04 p.m. May 31, Mawhinney's cell phone polled the tower of the gun club, documents state."
Fotis is on the security cameras as being on the property where the grave (or stash for tarp and lime) was.
Put a fork in him.

I heard a guy on a podcast today talking about how he grew up in a great home with loving parents but turned to a long and gruesome life of crime.
But then I heard a different criminal, a murder actually, say that his terrible home life was the reason that he was a killer and that parents should love their kids more.
So who knows, it’s nice to think that people can turn out ok coming from horrible family situations.
I think when there is money involved, everything is different. Economic conditions are everything.

The majority of murders in this country go unsolved, and largely un-investigated. All those gang murders, and shootings in Chicago, Baltimore, etc -- they never catch the murderer.
But when they kill someone in my socio-economic class, they investigate! I'm glad that law enforcement is doing the job I pay them for.
You get what you pay for. Think about that when you want to throw open the borders.

He's actually more of a "developer" (completely funded by his late wife's family). He builds ritzy homes and then tried to sell them to rich people--but he gets more into interior design than a construction guy would. He subs out the construction work.
Since he claimed to make 50k per year, he's apparently not very good at this. If I were Michele's father and had lent him $7 million so that he could have a 50k job, I would have been pissed, too.

To the lawyer upthread--
[quote] the simple answer is that most of us aren't willing to help our clients murder their wives. When a lawyer does that, he's a criminal in his own right, regardless of having a law degree.
When I first read the headline, I thought it was his criminal lawyer--the guy with the pony tail--who was being charged with conspiracy, and I thought it must have something to do with hiding evidence or misrepresenting his client or something like that. (Hence my question: do lawyers typically get charged in the midst of a murder investigation for hiding evidence.)
I didn't realize it was a different lawyer and that, literally, he abetted him in digging a pit for a body.
Please stick with us on the thread! We will have questions for you as this progresses!
Thank you

Some DL'r theory that he murdered her first.
Anybody know what happened to fugly Fotis mama?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | January 28, 2020 11:24 AM |
The money lent to Fotis was from his wife's father not the father of his mistress, Michelle.
Fotis is an ethnic Turk who was born in Greece.
The wife of the attorney who arrested says that she thought her husband was going to kill her. Prosecutors think that there might have been a pact between Fotis and his attorney-You help me kill my wife and I'll help you kill yours. You supply me with an alibi and I supply you with an alibi.
Fotis' mother was killed in a freak accident or was it murder? She was seriously ill with cancer. The 24 yr old nanny of the Fotis kids ran over her at the home where Fotis and his family lived in Avon, CT. Fotis' mother lived in CT.
Was it an insurance scam?

Of course she is, R84. He was flipping out because he had a hearing set for noontime before a judge today because his bail bondsman was questioning the value of some of the real estate pledged as collateral on his $6 million bond. He knew if his bail was revoked he'd be back in jail. His attempted suicide does nothing re: the charges laid against him let alone those against the GF or the lawyer - he'd have to die to get the charges dropped. Even if he lived in a persistent vegetative state, I doubt the state would drop the charges in case he woke up.
How it affects the other two has yet to play out.
