I’m thinking of taking a vacation to Thailand. Has anyone on DL been there, and did you like it? What is the best route from New York City to Thailand? What were some of the best things to do there? I’m a gay man traveling with partner and both enjoy beaches and famous sights. Is there anything that was not worth seeing? Are there any other nearby destinations (such as Singapore) that should not be missed? Was it gay friendly.
See if you can stay in one of this guy's hotels. Amazing. And he's gay.

I wouldn't recommend the great places in Thailand I've been to. They have enough western amenities but none of you bitches. Not telling you all, you'll ruin them.

It might be interesting to hear about some places that are a little bit off the beaten path, but gay friendly.

If we tell you it won't remain off the beaten path. Eldergay invasion and monetized locals will follow. So, no. Just no.

OP, you posted this before the whole coronavirus thing flared up. I hope you're still going to Thailand. I just returned from Koh Samui and Chiang Mai. Both places were amazing. Koh Samui is a lot like Phuket. Arriving / departing in BKK, the authorities were very vigilant about screening anyone who had been in China in the previous month, and had stopped accepting inbound flights from China.

If you are looking for destinations outside of Thailand and in the area I would recommend Siem Reap in Cambodia in order to visit the amazing Khmer ruins. Also Luang Prabang in Laos is like a postcard. I am not sure what you mean by gay friendly. No one will say a word to you regarding being gay in any of the Buddhist countries. Gay is widely tolerated. Remember, public displays of affection are looked down upon for both gays and straights, If you are looking for a scene then Thailand is your place. Do remember around March it gets hot as hell. Too bad the Chinese airlines have stopped flying. I was able to score a round trip on China Eastern for less than 400 bucks round trip from Los Angeles.
