Why didn’t Whitney Houston’s Christmas Album do well?

You never hear any cuts from it during Christmas time.

While, for so many artists, their xmas album is their best selling, Whitney’s seems to not have sold well and is forgotten

I didn’t even know she had one.

I assume it had to do with being a lezzie.

Her voice was pretty shitty at that point

She waited too long to put it out there, She should have made the album around 1990. It wasn't heavily marketed because it was one of the filler albums that artists and studios make to round out a contract. They might have paid someone like Whitney $100 million for 4 albums, but if the first 2 don't hit the numbers then an easy way to save money and keep the contract is a Christmas album.

By2003, it was apparent that despite the relative success of her Just Whitney album, she wasn't the hot commodity from the 90s. Her career had grown colder and they just threw out a Christmas album because the marketing period is a lot shorter saving the studio a lot of money and effort. The artist gets one step closer to the end of a contract in the hopes of another massive payout, or at least one album closer to their freedom. Win win for everyone!

Whitney should have cut a ghetto Xmas album, gospel, R&B and nasty. That would have been remembered.

It’s actually a really boring album, very unlike a regular Whitney album.

There’s no fire on that album as one had come to expect for every Whitney vocal. It’s obvious she didn’t have her heart in it.

One would thin xmas songs would be natural for her, but they’re not.

Like I said r6 and r7, it was a filler album. Stand here, sing this, three takes tops, home in time for dinner with Bobby.
