Such talent !!!!!!
Kristy McNichol should have become a huge star. But she went cray-cray.

Precious Taft.
With the addition of Precious, we have highlighted the very best of Stairway to Stardom.
An honorable mention should go to Horowitz and Spector.

With its glamorous intro, how could you not expect anything less than the best?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 28, 2019 3:09 PM |
I read in one of the myriad old STS threads that the featured performers had to pay to be on the show.

Horowitz and Spector sing about the travails of dieting

Gloria Huddle stands alone. Once in a life time do you encounter a talent like hers. She is so totally there, and yet not there, all at the same time.

Yeah we laugh, but honestly, wouldnt you love to see that sort of hopeful innocence again ? My fave so far is Precious. Shes bringing the DRAMA !
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 28, 2019 3:19 PM |
Yes, R13, it's worthy of the talent competition at Miss Black Person USA (at 14:40 below).
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 28, 2019 3:22 PM |
I came to post about Hairdresser but of course you bitches have already talked about it!

I bet Melania would give Gloria Huddle a run for her money. And just like Gloria, Melania would be reaching out to get Jesus on the line, if we're to believe her latest stellar performance in front of the cameras.

Get it, gurl

R11 He's cute, and nothing a little duct tape couldn't take care of.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 7, 2020 10:27 PM |
R5 One of the few from this show who actually had talent. I wonder if he ever made it as a dancer on Broadway,
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 7, 2020 10:47 PM |
The girl in OP's video is self taught! You'd never know it!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 7, 2020 10:49 PM |
whatever happened to them?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 7, 2020 10:54 PM |
What is this?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 7, 2020 11:04 PM |
R10 Were they the inspiration for the Sweeney Sisters?

Hairdresser lady looks like the drummer from the Go-Gos. Or some random member of the John Waters gang.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 7, 2020 11:09 PM |
And why is the first girl dancing in an office lobby?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 7, 2020 11:10 PM |
Except for the dancer/stripper at R5 and possible All The King's Men - I think the Stehway to Stahdom was actually going in the opposite direction.
And the way Hairdresser lady keeps changing the pitch of her voice - maybe it was supposed to be a ventriloquist act......imagine it with her holding Jerry Mahoney in her left hand.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 7, 2020 11:37 PM |
The guy at R5 can actually dance and has formal training. The other ones are all atrocious and practiced in their garages.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 7, 2020 11:42 PM |
Danny looks like Eric Roberts and Freddy Mercury had a jewish love child.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 8, 2020 12:50 AM |
Mario Cantone looked cute with the Orphan Annie cut.

I could watch these all day! I love them all but Hairdresser and Previous are my favs!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 8, 2020 5:43 AM |
Can someone explain what this is? Some public access cable show from Bensonhurst?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 8, 2020 6:04 AM |
We had a similar show in Boston called Community Auditions but I don’t remember it being as good as STS
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 8, 2020 6:11 AM |
The guy at R5 is A.C. Ciulla and he actually did make it. He’s a tony nominated and Emmy winning choreographer.
Precious Taft was a DL icon in 2007-08.

Holy fuck! I see a thread like this and am reminded why I come on here.
What other Public Access gems can we discuss. Did anyone ever watch and Prank Call show? (Better yet, did anyone call in?)

Forgive me, but I have not heard of "Stairway to Stardom". I did a little sleuthing and see that it was a NYC local cable offering. I checked out some of the talent, and was dumbstruck. Literally speechless.

This guy had a public access show in Atlanta that got pranked constantly here’s a sample.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 8, 2020 7:47 AM |
oh, no.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 8, 2020 10:07 PM |
Lucille Cataldo ("Hairdresser") actually appeared another time on "Stairway to Stardom." Here she is lending her vocal stylings to "Theme from Arthur" (when you get lost between the moon and New York City). At the end of the video, she says that her favorite singers are Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald. However, Ms. Cataldo is giving me Liza vibes.

Well that's definitely an improvement.
