Kristy McNichol should have become a huge star. But she went cray-cray.

Sing it, sister!

Precious Taft.

With the addition of Precious, we have highlighted the very best of Stairway to Stardom.

An honorable mention should go to Horowitz and Spector.

I read in one of the myriad old STS threads that the featured performers had to pay to be on the show.

Horowitz and Spector sing about the travails of dieting

Gloria Huddle stands alone. Once in a life time do you encounter a talent like hers. She is so totally there, and yet not there, all at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 12November 28, 2019 2:15 PM

Yeah we laugh, but honestly, wouldnt you love to see that sort of hopeful innocence again ? My fave so far is Precious. Shes bringing the DRAMA !

by Anonymousreply 13November 28, 2019 2:19 PM

Yes, R13, it's worthy of the talent competition at Miss Black Person USA (at 14:40 below).

R8 I don't think he's seen it in years

I bet Melania would give Gloria Huddle a run for her money. And just like Gloria, Melania would be reaching out to get Jesus on the line, if we're to believe her latest stellar performance in front of the cameras.

by Anonymousreply 18May 7, 2020 9:25 PM

Get it, gurl

by Anonymousreply 19May 7, 2020 9:27 PM

R11 He's cute, and nothing a little duct tape couldn't take care of.

by Anonymousreply 20May 7, 2020 9:27 PM

R5 One of the few from this show who actually had talent. I wonder if he ever made it as a dancer on Broadway,

by Anonymousreply 21May 7, 2020 9:47 PM

The girl in OP's video is self taught! You'd never know it!

by Anonymousreply 22May 7, 2020 9:49 PM

whatever happened to them?

by Anonymousreply 23May 7, 2020 9:54 PM

What is this?

by Anonymousreply 24May 7, 2020 10:04 PM

R10 Were they the inspiration for the Sweeney Sisters?

by Anonymousreply 25May 7, 2020 10:09 PM

Hairdresser lady looks like the drummer from the Go-Gos. Or some random member of the John Waters gang.

by Anonymousreply 26May 7, 2020 10:09 PM

And why is the first girl dancing in an office lobby?

by Anonymousreply 27May 7, 2020 10:10 PM

Except for the dancer/stripper at R5 and possible All The King's Men - I think the Stehway to Stahdom was actually going in the opposite direction.

And the way Hairdresser lady keeps changing the pitch of her voice - maybe it was supposed to be a ventriloquist act......imagine it with her holding Jerry Mahoney in her left hand.

by Anonymousreply 28May 7, 2020 10:37 PM

The guy at R5 can actually dance and has formal training. The other ones are all atrocious and practiced in their garages.

by Anonymousreply 29May 7, 2020 10:42 PM

Danny looks like Eric Roberts and Freddy Mercury had a jewish love child.

I could watch these all day! I love them all but Hairdresser and Previous are my favs!

by Anonymousreply 32May 8, 2020 4:43 AM

Can someone explain what this is? Some public access cable show from Bensonhurst?

by Anonymousreply 33May 8, 2020 5:04 AM

We had a similar show in Boston called Community Auditions but I don’t remember it being as good as STS

by Anonymousreply 34May 8, 2020 5:11 AM

The guy at R5 is A.C. Ciulla and he actually did make it. He’s a tony nominated and Emmy winning choreographer.

Precious Taft was a DL icon in 2007-08.

by Anonymousreply 35May 8, 2020 5:46 AM

Holy fuck! I see a thread like this and am reminded why I come on here.

What other Public Access gems can we discuss. Did anyone ever watch and Prank Call show? (Better yet, did anyone call in?)

by Anonymousreply 36May 8, 2020 5:59 AM

*The Prank Call Show

by Anonymousreply 37May 8, 2020 6:00 AM

Forgive me, but I have not heard of "Stairway to Stardom". I did a little sleuthing and see that it was a NYC local cable offering. I checked out some of the talent, and was dumbstruck. Literally speechless.

by Anonymousreply 38May 8, 2020 6:16 AM

This guy had a public access show in Atlanta that got pranked constantly here’s a sample.

Lucille Cataldo ("Hairdresser") actually appeared another time on "Stairway to Stardom." Here she is lending her vocal stylings to "Theme from Arthur" (when you get lost between the moon and New York City). At the end of the video, she says that her favorite singers are Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald. However, Ms. Cataldo is giving me Liza vibes.
