Mine is the pomegranate. Divine fruit. I'm lucky to have a tree.
A close second is watermelon. Saddest part of summer ending is no more watermelon in season!

Avocado!
I'm fortunate to have a few avocado trees on one of my properties... the problem is people are aware of them and are constantly stopping by and "helping themselves."

Banana
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 20, 2019 12:24 AM |
Same, pomegranate and watermelon. They both make me so horny as well. 😊
After that, it's probably forest berries, cherries, and mango. Lychee could be up there with the watermelon and the pomegranate, but it's so much effort for so little reward. I'm eating a persimmon as I type...

Can't believe I forgot to mention juicy gooseberries and delightful clementines. They both bring me such joy as well. Man, this is a bit like picking the favourite among your pets. Can't be done!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 20, 2019 12:34 AM |
R6, that looks good. I've never had one before!

Cherries, then berries -- raspberries, blueberries, blackberries.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 20, 2019 12:38 AM |
Cherries
Mango
Fuji Apple
Banana
I love melons (watermelon, cantloupe, honeydew) but they don't agree with me and I have to avoid.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 20, 2019 12:39 AM |
Goldenberries too--just discovered them a few years ago.

If I had to pick three, the list would be the following:
Guava (heavenly fragrance and glorious texture/ mouth feel) medium-ripe where it's just starting to lose the crunch
Blueberries, both for eating and baking
Mango, ripe for eating and green for making Thai shredded mango salad

It may be boring, but oranges. I could eat an entire bag of them if you threw it in front of me. When I was a kid and I was sick, my Mom would get a bag of them and give me a bowl for the peels, and I would eat the whole bag in a few hours.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 20, 2019 12:47 AM |
black cherries
watermelon
honeydew melon
avocados
that one rare perfectly ripe pear that you rarely can find
sweet big oranges
I dont really like any other fruit very much. I dislike fresh berries altogether unfortunately.

Y'all a bunch of fruits!
Love strawberries. With some whipped cream on top? Divine.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 20, 2019 1:08 AM |
Bosc pear - beautiful and delicious. Although my husband says they resemble a scrotum.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 20, 2019 1:17 AM |
Raspberries. We had a bunch of them in the garden when I was growing up, and I now associate them to childhood/happiness.
Also, any kind of berries. I can down a pound of strawberries in 5 min without even trying.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 20, 2019 1:30 AM |
Apples. I like most fruits in general, but it always goes back to apples. Fuji are my favorite. I do like an orange now and then too.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 20, 2019 1:31 AM |
mangoes
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 20, 2019 1:44 AM |
I buy grapes, bananas, strawberries and clementines (around Xmas). Lemons and limes for cooking with. Otherwise I don’t really like fruit enough to buy it.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 20, 2019 1:57 AM |
These aren't very easy to find fruits but I love: loquat fruit, persimmon and quince (this one specially as jam).
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 20, 2019 2:13 AM |
Sampalok? Shesek? I thought I knew of and had tried every kind of fruit in existence.
My favorite are ripe mangoes and apricots.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 20, 2019 2:16 AM |
Correction. Sampalok are tamarinds and Shesak are loquats both of which I've eaten.

R30 Im the one who wrote at R27 and mentioned those specific fruits because my grandparents had those fruit trees at their house in the South of Portugal. It really brings back memories to me, specially these ultra-sweet and astringent flavours of very ripe persimmons.

R30, As a child living in San Diego our neighbors gave us figs off their tree as they wouldn't eat them. Other friends gave us home grown pomegranates they didn't like. Avocados were still called, "poor man's butter" and people threw them away. Nuts were used mainly as decorations.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 20, 2019 3:01 AM |
R27, All of those fruits plus more exotic ones are sold at my local 99 Cent Store.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 20, 2019 3:07 AM |
R27, I love loquats! I've been guilty of a few loquat thefts from front yards where it seems the owners let them go to spoil.
I have a persimmon (the soft kind) tree in my yard. It's not really my preferred fruit, so I end up giving most away. Asian neighbors seem to particularly love them.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 20, 2019 3:12 AM |
Peaches (must be just soft enough) and ripe Bartlett pears. If either is too hard or too soft, they're not appealing--very difficult to find them at just the right stage.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 20, 2019 3:24 AM |
R16's list and mine would be very much the same, though for big oranges, substitute clementines.
R16, Harry and David's premium pears are worth the money.

R27 I live in the countryside in Sweden and can never get any of those fruits, so not easy to find for me. R30 Love figs also as I prefer really sweet fruits (figs are the fruit with higher natural sugar content (after dates) - grandparents also had a fig tree. R36 loquats are great indeed and the leafs are very pretty - but again in Scandinavia those trees can’t grow because of the weather and they aren’t easily found in shops. Persimmon is considered the national fruit of Japan and indeed mostly appreciated in asian countries.

R30, R40, Should I link YouTube videos from those with their own greenhouses who've successfully grown all kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables in their greenhouses despite living in snow country where it's often below zero?

A friend gave me a pomegranete and I dont know what to do with it. It's been sitting on my counter for a week! Will it go bad? What should I do?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 20, 2019 3:57 AM |
My favorite prepared fruit by far is lucuma. You can't eat it raw, but if you cook it, it has a unique and incredibly delicious taste. It's hard to describe--sort of akin to maple, vanilla, and caramel, but its own thing too.
It grows in the Andes, and I've only ever had it in desserts in Peruvian restaurants.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 20, 2019 3:59 AM |
The Colombian pitaya is one of the most delicious fruits known to man and it's almost impossible to get here. The yellow skinned variety is always delicious. I know they sell Asian pink dragonfruit in stores, but it's nowhere near as good.

Cherimoya. Had it in Peru. Amazing.
Mangosteen.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 20, 2019 4:04 AM |
R43, Spread out a lot of newspapers as this red fruit stains very badly. Use a super sharp knife to cut it in half and then in quarters. The red seeds are delicious in salads as a topper. Allrecipes has a chicken dish that uses them too.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 20, 2019 4:15 AM |
R46, They sell cherimoyas in Los Angeles and Las Vegas supermarkets. Love them.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 20, 2019 4:16 AM |
R46, cherimoya is amazing! You can buy them in the States but they cost around $5 for one.
Peru has possibly the world's best mangoes. Big, meaty, juicy, sweet. You can buy a bunch for under $1.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 20, 2019 4:16 AM |
R44, I've yet to try a lucuma. Linked is more info on this super nutritional fruit.

The post at R15 reminds me of Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit:
[quote] When I got home, I told my mother I didn't want to go again. 'You've got to,' she said. 'Here, have an orange.'
Anyway, I too love pomegranates. They're so sexy.

I worked in the produce department of a Whole Foods years ago while in college. Shitty job, but we got to taste all the amazing fruit. Jack fruit, dragon fruit, passion fruit were all amazing.
But nothing beats a red plum.

Wild Strawberries. I've found patches in the wild several times when they were ripe. They are very small but very sweet and packed with flavor.
I also found wild plums and they too are much better than the ones in the store. Sweeter and more flavor.

I’m open to trying any fruit that’s never been sprayed with chemicals. My parents’ apple tree was organic decades before it was the in thing to do. Always knew a huge flavour difference.

Ripe golden Delicious, or Macintosh apples. Oranges. (We have a tree and they’re the best). Occasional cantaloupe or mango. But the truth is most fruit aggravates my IBS. Can’t eat very much of it.
