As far as I know, he escorted Ava to this debutante ball thing. There were lots of other young adults from wealthy families who came in couples. So my guess is he isn't dating her.

These two likely met at school, or are friends of friends. I don’t know if Witherspoon’s children grew up in the South, but there are large numbers of Chinese and Indian students at the boarding schools in the South. The second or third son of a maharajah wouldn’t be unusual in that world.

R31, her mother is a one-time Oscar winner and two-time nominee. She would not be considered a second-rate actor by someone from a country where Priyanka Chopra is a superstar.

r31 you might not like Reese, but she is not considered a second rate actor when you talk about clout. She has iconic movies that came out t the turn of the century. Despite being over 40, she is an in demand actress with at least 1 hit series. From her generation she is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, which makes her important in the rest of the world that follows Hollywood.

Everyone knows America's sweetheart Reese Whiterspoon. Will they get married, probably not, but does that girls mother give her a ton of clout? Like it or not, she also has an Oscar so she can't be that bad.

His wiki says that his mother is the daughter of the former Maharajah.

He is the grandson of the former Maharajah..

Therefore his situation (and "blood line") is equivalent to Prince William.

I realize now that he is the grandson of the former maharajah but his connection is more analogous to Prince William and Earl Spencer, Diana’s father.

This current maharajah had to be adopted so as to inherit the title because it is still a patrilineal system and thus, indeed a new dynasty.

He seems more like a maharincess.
