I hated Chinatown. He must have hated Steve McQueen.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 28, 2019 6:48 PM |
Oh, I didn't realize he was still alive.
KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE is a great doc.

A true icon. One of my heroes (seriously). And could not have been a nicer guy when we met. RIP, Evans.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 28, 2019 6:52 PM |
He had his day.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 28, 2019 6:53 PM |
He had a hot ass but couldn't live forever.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 28, 2019 6:56 PM |
I loved his pre-made mashed potatoes.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 28, 2019 6:57 PM |
He was a dirtbag, but a talented dirtbag. RIP.

Bobby was HAF in his short-lived "acting" career in the late 50s, DL must acknowlege.

Pretty as he could be in “The Best of Everything.”

Wasn't he a big cokehead? Gives me hope for my future

I could barely understand a word he said.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 28, 2019 7:21 PM |
He reminds me a lot of Charlie or Martin Sheen when he was younger.

[quote]The Hollywood legend made his mark on the industry starting in the 1967 when he became the head of Paramount Pictures. The Godfather, Chinatown, The Godfather Part II, Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Rosemary's baby, Harold and Maude, Serpico, True Grit, The Italian Job and The Great Gatsby were just a few of the films released during his tenure.
That's quite a selection of movies!

He must have had cancer judging by R24's photo.
According to two friends I know who encountered Bob Evans decades ago, he was the most vile, evil slime bag who ever lived. That is, aside from Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 28, 2019 8:06 PM |
He was married to Amanda Carrington?

"According to two friends I know who encountered Bob Evans decades ago, he was the most vile, evil slime bag who ever lived."
Elaboratia, please.

I'm not sure what r22 is quoting, but Evans was not head of Paramount. He was production chief. Frank Yablans was president.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 28, 2019 8:46 PM |
His brother was the co-founder of fashion label Evan-Picone. Birth name was Robert Shapera.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 28, 2019 9:31 PM |
He was always so chic, so debonair.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 28, 2019 10:00 PM |
I think he looks greasy.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 28, 2019 10:18 PM |
R27, I have no more details, I'm quoting exactly what they said. One had steam coming out of his ears, the other was rolling his eyes, does that help?. Bob Evans being 100% asshole shouldn't be news. Look at his marriages - all one or two years. One of his wives left him after a week.
A friend of my uncle's worked for brother Charles Evans for a while, he was an asshole too. After 9/11 when everyone was stuck in New York, he wouldn't let them stay over night in his unoccupied office apartment. Assholes.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 29, 2019 12:11 AM |
He looks embalmed in that photo at R24.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 29, 2019 12:18 AM |
I have only heard rumors and have no proof whatsoever so don’t flame me. I have heard he was into very young girls, keeping sex slaves, and kept Heidi Fleiss in Manolos for much of her career.
Nasty, shitty guy. All those old farts are.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 29, 2019 12:19 AM |
Please... read his book. Sharon Stone tried the same shit about hostage women and dog collars. Total bullshit. He was a great character and a perfect match to Jack Nicholson.

[quote]Look at his marriages - all one or two years. One of his wives left him after a week.
That gurl, Ali, only has nice things to say about him.
She was his longest marriage.
[quote]He was terminally unlucky in love, marrying seven times, with the longest union, to “Love Story” actress Ali MacGraw, lasting three years.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 29, 2019 3:05 AM |
He was once a king in Hollywood. Love his documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 29, 2019 3:15 AM |
he lived in a very famous house designed in the 40 s by John Wolfe, called the pendleton house. It will bring a fortune when it hits the market.
As to his character, this about sums it up.........one of his closest friends back in the day was roman polanski.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 29, 2019 3:22 AM |
One of the most interesting things about his documentary was how they used "L'amour est bleu" to substitute for the "Love Story" theme in scenes about that movie—I suppose they couldn't get the rights to use the latter. Somehow it worked: same era, same general wistfully sappy tone. There was always that intriguing sense, however, that it wasn't quite the same, like Fake Jan or the later Gladys Kravitz.

R36, he and Ali have a child, so they stayed on good terms. Or at least Ali made sure they remained cordial for that reason.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 29, 2019 2:42 PM |
His son, Josh, was damn cute when I knew him (and a nice guy). He must be pushing 50 now. Time...
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 29, 2019 5:32 PM |
(Now on his third wife, just like Daddy).
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 29, 2019 5:36 PM |

Driving Diane Baker in DL favorite "The Best of Everything".

R 45, I wouldn’t think “old queen” so much as tremendously vain. Not to mention, how many old queens have 25 ex-wives?

Any idea who actually owns it r38 ? It's incredible. He sure didn't, with that whole story of Nicholson begging sultans or whatever on hands and knees to let him stay.
