Is there a celebrity that is universally loved on datalounge?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that didn’t garner scorn or vitriol from at least one poster.

Betty White?

by Anonymousreply 125October 27, 2019 11:52 PM

I can't think of anyone to be perfectly honest. Paul Rudd?

by Anonymousreply 1October 26, 2019 2:07 AM

it's tough. Dolly Parton? There are some jokes, but I don't think anyone actually dislikes her.

by Anonymousreply 2October 26, 2019 2:10 AM

Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 3October 26, 2019 2:11 AM

Tom Hiddleston. Gets the pity vote every time.

by Anonymousreply 11October 26, 2019 2:20 AM

I admit I've never heard anything nasty being said about Jean Smart around here.

r8 Oh, good one! Though I did manage to find this comment from 2015 in one of many Jan Hooks threads with minimum effort:

[quote]As awful as Dunn was (and is) to deal with, Hooks was the real deal- a pure cunt, through and through.

by Anonymousreply 19October 26, 2019 2:32 AM

Shelley Hack

by Anonymousreply 20October 26, 2019 2:34 AM

I wanted to say McKellen but I'm pretty sure he's been roasted a couple of times because of some of his more controversial comments.

Catherine O'Hara is another good one.

I don't even like her all that much, actually.

Patsy Cline

by Anonymousreply 26October 26, 2019 2:40 AM

I think one of her husbands was a rumored gay, according to dl, that shouldn't garner so much sympathy on dl, and what kind of life was that then?

I think Paracelsus is of pretty spotless reputation around here.

Then again, he is never mentioned. That's the only way

by Anonymousreply 34October 26, 2019 2:50 AM

I distinctly recall both Swinton and Turner (see link) getting shat on, with Turner rarely and Swinton fairly regularly. So that takes them both out of the running, unfortunately. Same goes for Maggie Smith, Judy Davis, Patrick Stewart, Eva Green... if you can believe it. All gems, the lot of them! I even recall someone counting on John fucking Lithgow. Can you imagine?

Lisa Kudrow, perhaps?

by Anonymousreply 42October 26, 2019 3:06 AM

Bea Benaderet was a loser. She was an unfunny third banana who could not carry her own show. Yes, she was guest starred in many classic sitcoms but she was comedy filler. She didn't have Eve Arden's withering looks or Lucy's physicality or Vivian Vance's believability. She was just available, apparently.

You couldn't be more wrong. She was the star of the long-running "Petticoat Junction," which Paul Henning created for her. When she died and June Lockhart replaced her as the "lady M.D.," the show went down the crapper.

by Anonymousreply 105October 27, 2019 5:58 AM

Lisa Kudrow is pretty popular.

by Anonymousreply 106October 27, 2019 6:02 AM

Never heard a bad word about Mary Tyler Moore. Alan Alda is apparently a lovely man. Jim Jabors. Elizabeth Montgomery

by Anonymousreply 107October 27, 2019 7:06 AM

Richard Chamberlain seems nice and genuine and used to post on DataLounge.

by Anonymousreply 108October 27, 2019 7:08 AM

Stevie Nicks. Even the person who started the whole "kicked a child in the cuntbone" story was a huge fan.

Neil Patrick Harris! An out gay man and respected, multi-talented performer.

by Anonymousreply 111October 27, 2019 7:13 AM

[Quote]After Albert Finney died, we had a good long thread about him. No slams, which is unusual for us.

Yes, and he deserved all the tributes. Terrific actor, although somewhat under-appreciated compared to his peers. I remember being surprised when Natalie Cole died and there was an outpouring of affection on DL and no one said anything nasty about her. Until then I'd had no idea so many gay people liked Natalie. I assumed she was strictly a hetero favorite.

by Anonymousreply 114October 27, 2019 9:08 AM

The obsessive fan repeatedly suggesting the awful Lisa Kudrow deserves to be slapped viciously. Kudrow is an unfunny, one-note hack who somehow lucked out and ended up on a show that turned out to be extremely popular in spite of being bland, overrated, badly written rubbish. She and her tired schtick need to be sent into forced retirement. Even the sight of this hideous bitch is enough to make me lunge for the remote. Can't stand this shrill heifer.

by Anonymousreply 115October 27, 2019 9:12 AM
