The smoking persecution has gone far enough. While we in America encourage binge drinking behavior and eating huge, greasy hamburgers, we’re now assaulting smokers who basically stand alone and away from everyone? By the looks of the tragic dye job, the fire extinguisher guy is a bareback bottom.
That was fun. I hope the fool puffing on the cancer stick got a good shot of that extinguisher powder in his mouth.

R1 someone needs to spray you with Slim Fast next time you’re inhaling a burger.

You can tell extinguisher guy (EG) used to be cute in his 20s, when he had hair. He’s also a little sassy. He might be a DLer, TBH.

Sassy extinguisher guy wanted to be a cop but couldn't make the cut.

That motherfucker would have bitterly regretted that action,I promise you. Im a smoker, and a week or so ago I had taken mom to lunch and was standing by the car,5 feet away from the sidewalk, smoking my after lunch cig,and this bitch on her cell phone made a huge production of walking into the road while loudly decrying how SHE treasured HER lungs even if other people dont. I looked her dead in the eye and said "Lady,I dont give a FUCK what you have to say" and kept right on puffing. A few days ago a friend and I were at a park, and while sitting on a bench(in the fucking open air, mind you) this group of bitches made a big production of giving me a wide berth while coughing and fanning. I just laughed derisively.I get not smoking inside somewhere, but Ill be dammed if your going to act like I cant smoke in the open air.

It’s true that people were more civilized back in the day when people smoked.

Bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 25, 2019 6:09 PM |
R11, people used to be able to sit quietly, looking dignified, smoking. Now people are on their phones. I feel like Mme Armfeldt.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 25, 2019 6:12 PM |
You apparently never lived through those eras when everyone smoked, or have an extremely superficial memory. I remember them well. The people were awful, regardless of how they "looked" smoking.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 25, 2019 6:34 PM |
That's assault, and that's a lawsuit.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 25, 2019 6:37 PM |
R2, get back to us when your lungs turn cancerous. We'll send a card.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 25, 2019 7:06 PM |
If I were on the jury I would vote Not Guilty.
The smoker told him to do it, plus he’s a smoker so fuck him.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 25, 2019 7:21 PM |
I hate smoking with a passion but as long as it's legal I do think smokers have a right to smoke. What they don't have is a right to smoke ANYWHERE, inside or outside, where others will be forced to inhale their fumes.

Oops, wrong thread.

[quote] While we in America encourage binge drinking behavior and eating huge, greasy hamburgers
Oh give me fucking break, no one is encouraging binge drinking or eating huge, greasy hamburgers but the people who do those things only assault themselves, smoking stinks the air around you and the stink follows you everywhere you go. I can tell if a person is a smoker just walking behind them in a store by the stink from their last cigarette. If you smoke close enough to me it gets in my hair and clothes, other people drinking or eating a hamburger normally doesn't get on me your smoking does. If your smoking didn't go up my nose I wouldn't give a shit how much you smoke.

[quote]“You can’t fucking smoke right here.”
Are you allowed to say that in Utah?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 26, 2019 4:31 AM |
That makes me want to carry a soda-water sprayer around! Lighter than a fighter extinguisher, and totally non-toxic, so nobody can claim I've poisoned them.
Because yes, smokers, your damn tobacco products still reek when you smoke outside.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 26, 2019 4:40 AM |
Why do people feel the need to fill their lungs with smoke and/or vape mist?
Your lungs were made to breathe fresh air.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 26, 2019 4:43 AM |
OMG this incident was literally one block away from my apartment!!!
F.Y.I. the real problem is the escalating homeless problem in downtown Salt Lake. That smoker can claim he's an "arts festival volunteer" as much as he wants — he and his buddy look like the hundreds of loitering homeless people who have camped out on every city block since the police and mayor swept away their tent city on the west side.
This entire country needs asylums with medical treatment for the mentally ill and shelters for homeless people again. It's a goddamn epidemic and the "integration," "let 'em wander the streets" strategy has failed summarily.
It's a humanitarian crisis and a public nuisance.

Ridiculous.
The way DLers fetishize the past is honestly pathological at this point.

Today, I saw a woman light a cigarette about 10 feet from a sign that says “no smoking within 45 feet”. It’s a very stern sign. I’m not sure if they have any right to make that rule, though. It’s a public sidewalk. .

Here is the only rational way to look at this:
Yes, smoking is fundamentally risky to one's health and is bothersome to the senses of many people. For this reason it should it has no place in non-recreational spaces and while I will not say that smoking should be "limited" in places like bars and restaurants, there should exist different establishments which serve to the needs of smokers and non-smokers, keeping in mind the market, of course. To ban cigar bars, smoking lounges and these kinds of places is wrong. One's being there is entirely a matter of choice and these places "promote" smoking no more than bars promote binge smoking.
Because smokers have been unjustly pushed to the side and in the issue of smoker vs. non smoker offered no equilibrium, it's rather fucktardy of some of you cunts to bitch about having to breathe in a waft of smoke as you walk down the street.
Life has inherent risks and as far as cigarette smoke, the average person's exposure to cigarette in public spaces has been minimized as much as humanly possible without banning the goddamn thing. For that exact reason it is the smokers who deserve more than anyone else to be given a fair hand.
Tobacco is not a "lie" created by money hungry men in mad-men-esque suits, it's a plant which has been cultivated for centuries. It has a place within society and always will.
Fuck you.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 26, 2019 6:59 PM |
R26, no, fuck you! Fuck you and your nasty polluting habit that makes you hallucinate that you're a persecuted minority as you light up yet another cancer death-stick to inflict your addiction on those around you.

People like r8 are trash. They don't care about their health how can anyone expect them to care about a stranger. Of course you littered for the millionth time throwing your cig butt on the ground expecting a stranger to pick it up. Enjoy lung cancer and emphysema.
P.S., it's you're not your.

by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 27, 2019 6:29 AM |
Beating that asshole to death with his fire extinguisher would have been appropriate.
He attacked the man with a deadly weapon, so deadly retaliatory force is appropriate. The fact that it would just be because he was a fucking asshole is just graxy.

I watched a loved one die of lung cancer from smoking. It's a miserable suffocating death.
Someday we'll be a basicslly smokeless society. I won't live to see it, but its coming.

To me it looks like he is trying to get rid of vagrants who are loitering in front of his business, the cigarette smoking was the excuse.
