You mean that you don't demand voter ID?! Here in the province of Ontario we have to bring our voting card with us that we get in the mail and then show them matching ID from our wallet as well. It's becoming more strict as time goes on.

OP, were you under the impression that Russians had shown up at the polls and voted because no one checked their ID? That’s no how it works.

I've had enough otherwise intelligent people wonder why we don't use Voter ID in the US, people who were actually thinking that Russian agents could come and vote multiple times for GOP candidates since no idea was required.

Given how digital most people's worlds are, how they just assume that everyone has some sort of online presence, it's no longer an intuitive get that poor rural black voters in the South frequently don't have any sort of official ID and that requiring one is a way to keep them from voting.

I've ever had people tell me "yes, in 1964 when those laws were passed this was an issue, but not in 2019. Everyone has some kind of ID today."

So remember to keep explaining.

It's interesting because people don't usually think outside their bubbles. They assume that everyone mostly lives like they do, or see in their cities, and that's it.

A lot of poor people can’t take time off work to register to vote. It cuts into their income, if they can even take the time off at all.

Some can’t afford the pay for the various acceptable IDs.

Some locals limit voting to locations that have poor public transportation.

I heard about a woman who was over 100, who walked over a mile to vote. But she didn’t have acceptable ID with her, so she wasn’t allowed to do so. Then she walked home, then walked back to vote, then back home again.

Meanwhile, there are very few cases of Voter fraud that could be fixed with an ID system.

Taking the machines offline which would require all the effort of turning off wifi in the polling station would be a start.

I think think it's helpful to know, per the OP, how the Red Right plans to muddle the discussion around our exigent need to ensure election integrity and enact a system that provides auditable voting records. I see this as them 'getting out ahead of this one' and we should all be hip-pocketing this info about how they will spin the discussion to distract and obfuscate the facts.

The actual purpose of IDs is to stop minorities and poor people from voting, or having their votes counted. Not that the Right would admit that.

And millions of non-citizens did not vote in 2016. We would know someone was taking another’s place and voting, because that other person would eventually go to vote, and upon doing so, would be told that they already voted. You never hear that complaint, and certainly not millions of these complaints.

This is actually a State issue. But the feds can overlay requirements onto the States, I think. Especially if bribed to do so.

Hmmm, what an amazing thing that the number of fraudulent votes happens to coincide with the very number by which Clinton beat him in the popular vote.

So according to Trump's pile o' shit supporters, we not only are supposed to believe that Trump knows *exactly* the number of votes that were fraudulent and they just happen to match the very number by which he LOST the popular vote, but that every single one of those millions of votes was for Clinton. Every. Single. "Fraudulent." Vote.
