I just watched it for the first time in years. It really is a great period piece, and for me at least, the performances hold up.

I don't think I ever saw it, gurl.
The thought of Art Garfunkel getting all sexy puts me off.

Reportedly, Mike Nichols rejected Jane Fonda, Raquel Welch, Natalie Wood and Dyan Cannon before offering Ann-Margret the role of Bobbie. A-M was considered a great singer/dancer but not much of a serious actress. She blew everybody away.

It was the first time the word "cunt" was ever spoken in a movie.

Ann-Margret is the only thing I remember about it. I remember seeing it and thinking "wow! She really can act." Then she did Tommy, Magic, and that TV movie of A Streetcar Named Desire and proved that she was quite fantastic. She never gets enough credit.

The scene with Nicholson and A-M fighting in the bedroom is one of the greatest freakouts ever on film.

I've come to loathe Nicholson over the years, but he and A-M are outstanding together. Garfunkle is quite good, and there are nice featured bits with Carol Kane and Rita Moreno.
I'd actually forgotten Candy Bergen was one of the stars until I saw it again recently! She's fine.
Amazing how young they all were once. Sigh.

I hated Candice Bergen fucked Nicholson behind his best friend's back.
