I'm heading to Palm Springs for a few days in mid September to relax and take advantage of lower hotel rates, especially at the luxury places. I know it'll be hot, but I love that extreme heat. I'm debating whether or not to stay at a gays only hotel. They don't look as nice as the other luxury hotels, such as the Parker or Avalon. Does anyone have suggestions?
Palm Springs recommendations

The gay places aren't as nice. It just depends on whether you want to have sex readily available or not. If that's not important to you, then stay at one of the nicer places.

"gays only"
You type frau.

R1 - and there's a caveat to that - most of the gay places are definitely for the older crowd, 60+. I would never stay in one of the gay places - too much like a bathhouse with hotel rooms. The vibe is hyper-charged sexually - which is not what I look for in a peaceful hotel room.
Obviously not all - some more so than others. But any place that is clothing optional is pretty much code for anything goes.

L'Horizon is mid century that was completely redone a few years ago. Also check out Sparrows Lodge. Pretty much any hotel is a gay hotel in Palm Springs. Down valley not so much,.

That's a bit dramatic, R3. They're usually mixed ages but I wouldn't say you see a large number of twinks.
I have stayed at a couple of places where women have tried to check in, and one had a meltdown over being told she couldn't. I stayed at one where a male couple stayed with their son which wasn't well received by other guests, considering it was clothing optional.

La Dolce Vita...clothing optional and chill.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 31, 2019 7:30 PM |
I'm positive that never happened R5. All these hotels know the law.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 31, 2019 7:39 PM |
I'm positive I was there, fool. And clothing optional have an exemption.

Escape & Tortuga del Sol are really great gay options. They are absolutely not luxury, but they are nice enough. It's like staying at the owners home with bungalows around the pool. I prefer these to the Parker (luxury choice of the 2 if you go that route) b/c it's just very laid back and the people who stay there are generally friendly/cool. I would say Escape, Santiago, or La Dolce Vita (mentioned above) are you best options. Walkable to Arenas, Palm Canyon and super close to the Tool Shed.

Are you out of your mind? It'll be 136 degrees at midnight.

Drama qween at r10. It's only going to be 130.

r6 I also liked La Dolce Vita, they had a little cocktail hour, onsite masseuse, and the rooms were fairly nice. Desert Paradise Resort Hotel was nice and not cruisy. Very quiet at night. I've stayed at the other ones and some were definitely a bathhouse type of vibe.
If you want luxury, you are probably thinking of places like JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa. It's not in Palm Springs, but in the Coachella Valley.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 31, 2019 11:58 PM |
Why do you people insist on saying MASSEUSE when that is the FEMININE form of the word. Males who give massages are MASSEURS.

R11 But it's a DRY HEAT.

Kimpton has a fab new hotel in the center of town, walking distance to Arenas Road. Great views on the higher floors

While the gay places aren’t quote as deluxe as some of the high end places, they do have the advantage of being clothing optional. Even if you aren’t looking for sex, it’s nice to be able to walk out without your swimsuit to the pool at midnight. Try that at the Kimpton and listen to the fraus scream.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 1, 2019 1:27 AM |
The Kimpton & JW Marriott are very bachelorette weekend.

The Hard Rock is decidedly homophobic.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 1, 2019 7:58 PM |
I would go to the See’s Candies store.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 1, 2019 8:04 PM |
Clothing optional is NOT a plus. Being surrounded by naked sagging eldergays is a guaranteed way to ruin a beautiful vacation.

The future is gonna be a rough one for R23.

It's ok I plan on blinding myself when I hit 30.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 1, 2019 10:44 PM |
I go to the gay places but I can't sleep. The hypersexual atmosphere makes me hyper. I like it though. Also whenever I've gone there's been a good assortment at the buffet.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 1, 2019 11:08 PM |
So let me get clarity. The gay places are hyper sexual but also filled with old guys in crappy shape. How does that work. Are they hiring? Are they fucking each other? Are they looking for chicken,of sorts (people younger than 60)?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 1, 2019 11:24 PM |
Unfortunately the Taco Bell hotel is sold out.

The twinks are the bad news at the clothing optional resorts. My experience was they don’t socialize, tend to stick in their little study-buddy groups, get drunk and then come 3 am try to hook up in the steam room with everyone.
Not that many of us are interested in sloppy drunk twink bottoms who are so sex shamed they stay at a place where there’s sex, but deny they’re interested until the middle of the night. They want the deniability their friends won’t see them (cough, cough) but just want a good hard anonymous fuck - like everyone else.
The difference is the adults socialize at breakfast with whoever they’ve had sex with.

Eldergay here - who doesn’t want to spend my vacation around other naked eldergays. If you’re a nudist, fine. But those PS resorts aren’t nudist - more pervy. Again, fine if that’s what you want. But I don’t want a nudist or pervy weekend. I want an escape from that.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 2, 2019 4:23 AM |
Hmm, I want some pervyness and I'm into daddies. Probably should book at a luxury resort and go to a bathhouse for fun.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 3, 2019 10:42 PM |
Why not do both? Stay at a nice design hotel but get a day pass at one of the “resorts.”
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 3, 2019 10:49 PM |
Ooh what place would be the best for a day pass?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 3, 2019 11:22 PM |
r31 No bathhouses in PS. The closest thing is CCBC--sort of an outdoor bathhouse combined with a motel.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 3, 2019 11:33 PM |
I used to live there and AirBNB my place out. I'd stay at different hotels depending on the cost and time of year. The best place I stayed was definitely The Parker. The grounds are lovely and there a few cute bars and restaurants. It's where "Brangelina" started and where RDJ had one of his first big drug busts. Head out to the Barracks in Cathedral City (a short Lyft ride the Parker) and find you some daddy cock-especially on Sundays.

How does one go about getting coke?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 4, 2019 2:58 AM |
It's in the beverage case next to the Pepsi, Rose.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 4, 2019 4:47 AM |
Ok I think I'm going to do 2 nights at the Santiago and 2 at some fancy resort.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 5, 2019 2:07 AM |
R35 - CCBC isn't the only place with day passes. The All Worlds off of Ramon Rd. also has quite a scene and it is next to downtown PS. Never been myself, but it is notorious.
Just came back from Palm Springs today and it was very busy. Unfortunately, we're getting some of the monsoon humidity late Aug/early Sept, so it's kinda gross. Not the usual PS weather, but it doesn't last that long.
It should go back to dry heat in about a week.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 5, 2019 5:04 AM |
R39 - I lived down the street from the Santiago on San Lorenzo- it is probably the nicest gay resort I can think of. There are I think 4 gay resorts just on that one block. You may want to see what events are going on across the street at the Triangle, Tortuga and others.
Santiago does a great business - parking lot is almost always full year round. Probably for a good reason. Never been inside, but it is very nicely done and states 'quality' from the road.
Hope that helps.

If I want unyeilding heat in a Moroccan-inspired villa, I GO TO MOROCCO.

fuck that optional nonsense

[quote]suggestions?
Don't come.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 5, 2019 6:26 AM |
R35 R40 Look for the places that offer day passes, and give them a wide berth. Unless you're looking for sex, you'll be disappointed. Some of the other places did offer day passes and stopped because of problems. Problems like guests property disappearing, and sketchy types wandering the property at all hours.
They can say it's a "day pass" but not all these places enforce it; it just means you can stay and play but there's no sleeping accommodations.
