Now.... crickets about Joey.
Connor is still loved, though.

He turned 18, and DL'ers were no longer interested.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 28, 2019 11:04 PM |
18? You sure he didn’t turn 28?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 28, 2019 11:05 PM |
Joey aged out. Plus he looks "mature" now.
The only reason the pervs are still lusting after Timothee, is because he still looks underaged.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 28, 2019 11:16 PM |
Joey Pollari came out first.
Then Connor Jessup decided to come out.
I wonder why they never hooked up. They would make a cute couple.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 28, 2019 11:26 PM |
[Quote] I wonder why they never hooked up.
They were roommates who did Taylor Swift karaoke together. You do the math.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 18, 2019 4:32 PM |
What are you even talking about r1, he was like 22 when he came on people's radar during American Crime Story.
But yes his career has really stalled after that show.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 18, 2019 4:36 PM |
18? 22?
Is Joey Pollari the gay CZJ?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 18, 2019 4:42 PM |
r5, they did hook up, I'm convinced the relationship with Miles will peter out.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 18, 2019 5:23 PM |
[Quote] I'm convinced the relationship with Miles will peter out.
They're both mid-20s. Of course it will peter out.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 18, 2019 5:30 PM |
He was excellent on American Crime. I am surprised he is not getting more roles.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 18, 2019 5:37 PM |
He's had too many rolls, that's why he's not getting any roles.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 18, 2019 5:46 PM |
His father died of that condition that people were publicising with the ice challenge. I think it was Motor Neurone disease. He may have taken time out when the end loomed and in the aftermath of his father's death.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 18, 2019 5:49 PM |
He came out as a moody, artsy bottom and folks lost interest. I’m not really sure why his career stalled so much. Even after he father died, he hasn’t been acting. For a twink (otter?) in Hollywood, he doesn’t seem to be marketing himself very well or even auditioning. Of course, he could be a very high class escort, which would more than sustain him.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 18, 2019 6:17 PM |
How would you know if he's auditioning or not?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 18, 2019 6:20 PM |
It's a pity that he doesn't work more, unlike other young actors he can act and it's not all about the looks
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 18, 2019 9:03 PM |
He should've taken the Sean Cody gig.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 19, 2019 4:16 AM |
Two things that make DLers lose interest in a cute white male celebrity: 1) He comes out of the closet 2) He reaches the age of majority.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 19, 2019 4:26 AM |
[quote]He was excellent on American Crime. I am surprised he is not getting more roles.
Agreed! I was not prepared for how moving that season -- and his performance were. It's still kind of astonishing to me that Disney's broadcast network aired such an interesting, well written show and dedicated its second season to the complexities of gay male desire, sexual mores and the [sometimes] blurred lines between aggressive sex and abuse.
It really is a shame that he isn't getting more work, he really was a standout in a uniformly excellent cast.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 19, 2019 5:57 AM |
I thought he was better than Jessup in that season.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 19, 2019 1:55 PM |
[quote] They were roommates who did Taylor Swift karaoke together. You do the math.
So... two bottoms?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 20, 2019 3:02 AM |
Coming out is an instant career killer. Always has been, always will be.Wich is why I dont get those who insist a person who makes their living in a public venue declare their sexuality.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 20, 2019 4:17 AM |
Dead Nickelback eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 20, 2019 5:16 AM |
I still don't know who Connor Jessup is, except his acolytes use a great deal of bandwidth here on DL posting about him.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 20, 2019 9:55 AM |
R24: That's simply not true. All actors who came out in recent years kept working the same they did before coming out, and Pollari, for reasons i don't understand (because it's pretty obvious he is way more talented than most actors his age) was not working before coming out
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 20, 2019 2:22 PM |
[Quote] All actors who came out in recent years kept working the same they did before coming out
Not true. Quinto had to go crawling back to Broad Way. Colton used to get auditions for straight roles and they disappeared once he came out. (And Colton didn't put on weight straight away, so don't try that excuse). Ben Whishaw's movie career as a leading man is only indie/low budget fare.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 20, 2019 4:59 PM |
Come on, Colton was a mess after coming out, i'm pretty sure that had something to do with him not getting roles
Ben Wishaw is perfectly fine, he is getting lead roles on tv and indies and he was never destined to be a mainstream lead man, no matter if he is gay or straight.
And Quinto is a theatre guy, he had no problem in getting roles the same way he had no problem getting roles before
Coming out is not going to bust your career but it's not the kiss of death anymore
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 20, 2019 5:18 PM |
Maybe he has a regular job, like a capital project manager, factory operations supervisor, or insurance agent.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 20, 2019 5:26 PM |
[Quote] Colton was a mess after coming out
Doubt it. Colton came out not long after ending a six year relationship. He said he hadn't dated for about two years before Jeff. He didn't go off the rails straight away. He was repairing family relationships etc.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 20, 2019 5:41 PM |
[Quote] he was never destined to be a mainstream lead man
You could say the same about Dustin Hoffman. Or Benedict Cumberbatch. There are non-hunky/handsome leading men that break through regularly.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 20, 2019 5:42 PM |
[Quote] i'm pretty sure that had something to do with him not getting roles
It's not about getting the roles, it's about not even being seen for the roles. Opportunity was taken away from him.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 20, 2019 5:43 PM |
[Quote] And Quinto is a theatre guy, he had no problem in getting roles the same way he had no problem getting roles before
Quinto wasn't known as "a theatre guy" when women were creaming over him in HEROES, and when he got the STAR TREK gig. His only screen roles of note since have been a Ryan Murphy production and that SLAP remake of an Aussie original. That's quite a decline in terms of his screen work. Oh yeah, and he played James Franco's lover in a movie that nobody cared about.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 20, 2019 5:45 PM |
Quinto is also in the horror show Nos4A2 which airs its second season soon.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 20, 2019 6:04 PM |
R33: You can not be serious, Colton had to left Arrow because he had anxiety attacks, he could not work
Second, Quinto was not out before Heroes, but he struggled to get roles. Now he is not struggling at all
And yes, Dustin Hoffman is an unconventional leading man, but that doesn't men Wishawn was going to be. And he was the main character on london spy and he is working all the time.
And of course every actor has ups and downs. You are talking like if you come out you are suddenly blacklisted which is obviously false
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 20, 2019 7:38 PM |
[Quote] he was the main character on london spy and he is working all the time.
The previous comment referred to movie leads in A-list/prestige fare. No "Bright Star" type projects for Ben in a long time. I don't think that's a coincidence. Even Luke Evans is back out of the closet 100% now that he's settled into playing cads, villains etc. No one needs to shed a tear for these men but it's not incorrect to point out that romantic leading roles in major projects disappear for out male actors.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 20, 2019 7:59 PM |
R37: Prestige in films? you must be kidding, right now there are way better tv shows than films
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 20, 2019 8:18 PM |
Are you suggesting actors have stopped caring about Oscars?!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 20, 2019 8:19 PM |
No, i'm suggesting that the academy have real trouble to find 10 decent films lately
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 20, 2019 8:21 PM |
Andrew Scott is doing pretty well post coming out.

British TV and theatre actor (who is Irish)?

This is basically Connor Jessup’s entire brand and he keeps getting roles + billions of fan threads here on the DL. Joey deserved better.

Aren't they around the same age?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 2, 2019 3:20 AM |
R47 Yes, they’re both 25.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 2, 2019 3:30 AM |
Did he introduce Miles to Connor? They both had a role in Love, Simon right?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 8, 2020 12:57 PM |

Is that a photo of DL fave Matthew Camp at R52?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 8, 2020 3:13 PM |
Oh my gosh. His "Bjork in 1993" halloween costume is perfect. I don't think Instagram video links work here, but it's only a couple of posts back on his IG...

Joey quit acting, is now going by the name “Odd Comfort” and is launching an electronic music career.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 26, 2020 10:43 PM |
He's an odd duck. I wish him well.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 26, 2020 10:55 PM |
He was so good on American Crime. I recently rewatched that season and am still astounded that it aired on American television, let alone on a major broadcast network.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 26, 2020 11:08 PM |
R55 - where did he say he "quit acting"?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 26, 2020 11:12 PM |
R58 With the exception of a bit role in an undistributed indie movie last year, his IMDB has been completely dead since Love Simon. Not too farfetched to assume it’s not his priority anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 26, 2020 11:19 PM |
r59 - yes, but that's quite different than actively quitting the profession, which is a bit of an assumption to make. I thought he would have booked a lot more gigs since wonderful turn in American Crime, but he didn't. It's quite possible that other than Love, Simon and that other indie, things have been very dry for him, but not necessarily by choice. I'm sure we can all think of fine actors who "should have worked more..."
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 26, 2020 11:23 PM |
Couldn't Ryan Murphy or Greg Berlanti give him a job for life? I suppose Ryan has only one type but hoping anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 26, 2020 11:30 PM |
He was the hottest one in Love Simon.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 26, 2020 11:48 PM |
I liked Nick’s lazy eye.
